  • How to re-profile a new profile onto an existing Quad/Zuperior/Ellipse profile or any other pitched profile (moved pivot point forwards/backwards). Both the Zuperior-, Quad- and Ellipse profiles have a built-in pitch in the profiling template, the pivot point has been moved back. This means that you need to reset the pitch when profiling a new profile onto the existing Quad-, Zuperior- or Ellipse profile.
This is the pitch of all Zuperior-, Quad- and Ellipse profiles:
    Zuperior 3XS: 12 mm backwards
    Zuperior XXS: 15 mm backwards
    Zuperior XS: 17 mm backwards
    Zuperior S: 20 mm backwards
    Zuperior M: 20 mm backwards
    Zuperior L: 20 mm backwards
    Zuperior V: 20 mm backwards
    Quad 3XS: 12 mm backwards
    Quad XXS: 15 mm backwards
    Quad XS: 17 mm backwards
    Quad Zero: 20 mm backwards
    Quad 0.5: 20 mm backwards
    Quad I: 20 mm backwards
    Quad II: 20 mm backwards
    Ellipse 3XS: 12 mm backwards
    Ellipse XXS: 15 mm backwards
    Ellipse XS: 17 mm backwards
    Ellipse Zero: 20 mm backwards.
    Ellipse I: 20 mm backwards.
    Ellipse II: 20 mm backwards.

How is the pivot point of the steel specifically set? I understand you mark the center of the steel and the corresponding length where the profile will start to be applied and end. But if a player is looking to change the balance point, maybe moving it backward slightly or more forward, do you just change the middle point of where you are applying the profile? If so, when would you move the center point forward? When would you move the center point backwards? It would be awesome to see some videos focusing on more advanced profiling instead of the standard mark the center, select a template and profile.

Hi Nicholas! We've must have missed this comment. Sorry for the late answer. On the single radius and double radii profiles from Prosharp you clamp the blade on the center point. On the Zuperior, Quad and Ellipse you need to compensate for the built-in pitch (on most of them 20 mm backwards), otherwise you will get more pitch than you've asked for. If a player wants to get a more lean in when skating (enhancing acceleration/agility) you move the pivot point backwards and if a player want to get more upright (enhancing stability/straight line speed) you move the pivot point forward.
