I have never considered this game as I am heavily a solo gamer, but this video and the anticipation of the coming ones, has me excited for it. So much so, that I went to the game store at lunch and purchased it :)
Oh awesome!! I really hope I don't let you down. . . . The game is made for competitive play, so you lose something there. But Dale did a good job providing us with a way we can experience the game! Also note I am playing with the expansion, so if you just got the base game, you will not have the advanced tactic cards. You can also do combat the way Dale has it since he used the basic tactic cards! Good luck my friend, and may the force be with you!!
Thanks! Honestly just opening the game box up, I am glad I bought it. All those star wars mini's are awesome. A couple more years my son can play with me, and until then I can practice with the solo rules!

I'm curious to see how much this parallels the 1v1 game. So much of it is psyching out the opponent, I imagine something gets lost in the solo mode.

Wow, the setup looks very daunting, but I'm very intrigued and will watch your other videos in this playthrough series. Just FYI: There is a version 1.2 file of Dale's variant that does incorporate the expansion. I'd love to see a playthrough using that sometime. Also, it's cool how the influence track needs to meet the round marker in order to win, very much like Ark Nova.

Competitive game is great except for combat. Your conclusion on the solo variant and expansion will be greatly appreciated. Definitely have to play the soundtrack in the background while playing.
Not even a question on the soundtrack! Have you played with the expansion competitively? Do you feel it helps?
Have not played with the expansion. Combat was clunky but otherwise an excellent 2 player competitive game. Game can run long unless the Empire destroys the Rebel base early.
Yes agreed. The expansion does not speed up const but does improve it. And I like the additional troop it brings!
Star Wars!!! Solo variant is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it. My game group had a blast playing through the campaign. We are waiting for more campaign missions.

No problem at all! I do this all the time so no worries. We REALLY need to find a time to get together. . We are in MN for goodness sakes! We close on the house June 28th, and then go to Alaska for 2 weeks. After that, life will settle down so I will see if we can get something together!

I really appreciate this videos.. it has made the experience much better. I had a specific question, During solo gameplay, when the Empire draws a Project card to "Place a leader on a BlueSquare build icon in order to place a Star Destroyer on the Queue, if that system is subjugated (and no other BlueSquare Icons are available to the Empire: would it it still place the BlueSquare Production Value (Star Destroyer) on the Build Queue??? or would this project be unattainable at this time. Thanks Again!!

I love this game so much. I've played the solo so many times. I do get a bit confused how to get the AI to execute death star lasers online at the right time as it gets random technical capabilities.
Totally get that the Death Star is the most challenging to play this way. Glad you enjoy the game solo!!

At the end of turn one you deployed your units, should they not go into the 1 box and deploy on the next turn?

So how it works based on my reading of the rules is that you produce FIRST. So certain items may be placed into box 1. THEN you slide everything down 1 row, and anything in box 1 is then deployed. Does that make sense?
thanks wanted this but with where i'm can only play solo so my copy arrived today and just ordered expansion, should i just wait for that to arrive before i play? also do you know if there is a variant which you can play the empire?

Super hard choice. No components left unplayed really, but it is so much better 2 player. I do still enjoy it enough I kept it for solo play as well. . just in case! :)

Replayability is good, I have not seen rules for the other side, as it is hard to have a hidden base right? A lot of people play both sides though!

I adapted for the expansion. So you can just use the regular solo rules!
