    • @HeiferUSA
      @HeiferUSA  Před 2 lety

      Hi Samuel, we fill the feeders typically twice a week. It depends on the age of the pigs though. We currently estimate each pig consumes about 750lbs of grain during its life on the Ranch, but we are currently upgrading our process to measure this to get a more accurate result.

    Very nice video, I don't know if I missed it but how many 'paddocks' do you have per group? As in If the pigs stay in one place for 7 days, how many days until they(or other pigs) get back on it?

    • @HeiferUSA
      @HeiferUSA  Před 3 lety +2

      50 pigs per 1/2 acre, rotate once a week, and depending on the weather..we might move them faster (like every 4 to 5 days if it is raining a lot), each paddock needs to rest a minimum of 60 days according to the standards we adhere to, but this is depending on the season. In the winter time you might go a little longer, in the spring a little shorter when things are growing fast. We try to use the same paddock not more than 2 to 3 times a year. Hope this helps! We are, of course, constantly evaluating and chaning things! Email us at heiferusa@heifer.org if you need more questions answered like this!
