BEST Tapas in Madrid

- A trip to Spain would not be complete without getting some TAPAS! Tapas is everywhere in the city so you might be wondering where you can go to sample some of the BEST Tapas in Madrid.
The first place I would suggest going may seem odd but it's going to a department store. At the top of the Cortes Ingles Department Store. Located on level 9 is a rooftop area full of things to eat and drink plus you will get a view of the Gran Via that is literally amazing. You can go up for free and just see the view if you want! It's worth a visit!
Our second suggestion is to go to the basement of this building and visit the grocery store. You could buy any type of Spanish treat here. It's also fun just to see what they offer in grocery stores in Spain!
Last, it is always advisable to find an organized small group food tour. We found an excellent one with Devour Foods. We visited 4 different taverns and three of them where over 100 years old! We got to try so many uniquely Spanish foods and drinks. The atmosphere was amazing and many of these places were full of locals. It was such a great experience and I would highly advise booking this tour.
I found that the tour not only let us experience many different foods and drinks but it was a walking tour and we really got acclimated to the area, heard a lot of history as we walked along and saw many of the sights I had on my list to see!
