  • Every actor wanted to be James Dean from the late 50s-early 80s. But Chrisopher Jones acutually resembled the star and got to marry Dean's mentor,Lee Strasbergs, daughter, Susan. A stunning couple, they met in 1962 and were divorced by 1967. here is the long awaited remastered scenes of Chris and Susan from the 1967 b film, Chubasco

He looks like a darker version of James Dean, he's got some of his bone structure, his frame and even sounds like him. If they made a JD biopic back in the 60's, Christopher would've been perfect for the role, better match than Franco anyway.

Latley I have been hearing that Sharon Tate was through with Roman Polanski after she had the baby(and Polanski didnt want the baby).. I wonder if she was counting on being with Christopher Jones. Maybe not that good thugh> I think Strasberg said he was abusive.

Yep, Chris was a dead ringer for James Dean , and also a good actor, to bad he flip out, and went AWOL, ( A la Mickey Rourke) he had it all. Look for the movie " Wild on The streets".

That's how he got "discovered" - his friends in NYC recommended he audition with Lee Strasberg, his wife Susan's (above) father. They loved him and he was doing plays there. Hollywood got him, but so did Hollywood. Soon sank into LA drug scene, as always a desperate soul. Died in '14 Jan at 71. He's almost more James Dean than James Dean.

      Susan Bednar:
He died at 72,and he didnt sink into drug scene in LA.I know this because I lived with him and took care of him for a time while he was lost mentally. Yes,he was a desperate soul, but for real reasons. A car wreck and the loss of Sharon Tate kind of fizzled his mind for a long time.
I'd take him to Yellow Submarine coffee shop,on Sunset. One time I went to the bathroom, and when I came back to the table,he had wandered outside and was just standing by the Newspaper machine.Just staring down the road.
I took hold of his hand and walked him back in so we could have lunch.
Things like this,..which had nothing whatsoever to do with drugs.
He never touched drugs all the time I knew him.
I miss him a lot,..even now after so long.A sweet gentle guy,Chris was.
You'll always be in my heart,Chris.
      Safe Paths,Sweety.

      La Person:
The reports of him being on drugs,a bad boy,and all the rest must have been before Sharon's death, cos he was honestly a good guy around me.
As to Carry Abernathy,..I could tell you a whole lot about her and how she found Chris,..and it is all my fault, sadly.

    Intentional? Of course it was.

    • @UNOwen1
      @UNOwen1 Před 9 lety +2

What's 'of course' intentional? His looks?
I hope you're joking, because no one - esp. back then, esp. men, esp. poor young men don't 'intentionally' ...somehow magically' get money, to possibly get plastic surgery, to possibly get discovered.
Mr. Jones DID happen to look like James Dean.
      Period.
You might be familiar with an actor named James Franco.
Early on, There was a (made-for-TV) bio to be made about James Dean, and Mr. Franco - who had a natural resemblance, and knew it early on - when he was hired, after they cut his hair - looked even more like James Dean.
Mr.Jones - if you don't know - came from a very poor background, his mom was locked in a mental institution when he was very young, and he was put in Boy's Town, and then orphanages, and back-and-forth.
By the time he was old enough to join the military, he did, but soon went AWOL, and then got locked up.
Mr. Jones was a troubled soul, NOT the 'manipulative conniving' person you imply with your idiotic remark.
IF he was (or others around him) were 'brainy' enough to do this, you're forgetting one -VERY important - part; you need to be a controlled or controllable person. Mr. Jones was neither, hence his sad life.
