Thank you for the time spent making this video, you've likely helped thousands...
Thanks, and thank you for the feedback!
Thanks bud. This helped me fix the diverter that hadn't been working well for years
That’s great! So happy to hear that it helped. Thanks for watching!
I’m so thankful for this video. The diverter at the house I cat sit/house sit at fell out of the spout and this helped me figure out how to put it back together
So glad to hear that it helped you out! You should be proud that you fixed it. Thanks for watching 😊
Thank this helped. My parents never teach me things like this even when asked. I was able to pull it up finally and greese it with WD40
You are very welcome. I’m happy that it helped you out! Check out my latest video where I’m giving away a multimeter kit to celebrate 1000 subscribers- czcams.com/video/4hCfO8MkLiQ/video.htmlsi=Y_qMhNY5BsIfGPr9
I have a good video that shows you how to use it too. Thanks for watching!
Thank you sir!!

Mine won't stay up lol... opposite problem. So now my water won't go up to the shower head and I also can't get the spout off the pipe to replace it despite removing the hex screw. It turns and turns but won't come off. And of coursethus happened on a long holiday weekend and maintenance when the office to my apt complex is closed until after the 4th of July 🫤
Oh man sorry to hear that, that really stinks. You may have already tried this but if you turn the water all the way on first the pressure will usually keep it up and if not you could cut a small piece of popsicle stick to wedge in between the front of the tub spout and the white diverter while holding it up, I think there may be enough room. Please let me know if any of these work. If someone fixed the pipe behind your spout with a SharkBite connection it may unfortunately spin around and around.
Mine lets more water out in the tub then in the shower when it’s pulled up in shower mode
Check to see of the gasket is still present (the little black washer looking thing). If that’s gone or broken it wont divert the water up to the shower. Thanks for watching!
I have a question. Mine whistles like a steam engine. It is soo loud!! Help
Does water leak out of the faucet when you pull up the diverter or does it all come out of the shower? If it leaks out I would just replace the diverter. There’s a good chance that’s the problem and you may want to clean the surface of the spout where the diverter rides up and down. You can do it with a nail file. Good luck and let me know how you make out. Thanks for watching!
Question. What if the diverter pulled half way up gives a better shower pressure with water leaking from the spout vs very LOW pressure from the shower pulled ALL the way with no water leaking from the spout?
Not 100% sure but I would guess that either the diverter has come out of its track on one side or the gasket is damaged/misaligned. I would pull it apart and inspect the gasket/baffle or whatever it’s called lol. Thanks for watching!
How do you spread the plastic pieces apart/ Also, I have this same model in gold, where is the screw at? I checked the regular opening and all I see and feel is the pipe, but I noticed theres a tiny hold in the front, is there a screw there? I tried looking but can't tell.
Honestly I’m not sure about a set screw in the gold version you have, sorry. To spread the plastic piece apart just use a flat blade screwdriver and gently spread it while pulling the knob up. Don’t over do it or it will break. Just enough to get it to release.
Hello. I bought a new water sprout. I took the old one off. But it has the old white tube still attached to the copper pipe. It won’t unscrew off.
I can’t get it off. Is there a way to get it off? Like a tool. Can I send you a picture please?
Hi Anthony. Sure, send it to dadfixdit@icloud.com
My got stuck in the up position :/ cant push it back down
You could try forcing it as long as you support it (don’t stress the pipe its hooked to) or you could pull the white nylon diverter down from the bottom with pliers but also still support the spout.
How do you remove it ? Mine is stuck in there the little stick thingy and it has not turn knob on top to pull up or down.
If the knob on top broke off and the post is still inside connected to the white “diverter” (plastic piece that moves up and down with the post (that should have a knob on it)) then you could use a really skinny screwdriver or pick and gently tap (with a hammer or something heavy) the post down but make sure you support the whole spout as you are doing this. The spout is only screwed onto a copper pipe which is soft and can break if too much pressure is applied. So support the spout with your knee and gently tap the diverter out of the bottom by hitting the post from the top. Hope this makes sense and helps.
@@dadfixdit thank you soo much i will try that right now.
Does that particular spout have a screw or twist off?
I’m pretty sure there’s a set screw on this one.
This did not help me in any way.
Sorry to hear that. What’s kind of problem are you having ?
Virtually all How to videos demonstrate how to do the job, you on the other hand just talk about it.
Why waste our time? I think you can do better
Sorry you feel that way. I think I explained it pretty well but if it’s not up to your expectations I apologize. Maybe you will find some of my other content more helpful. Have a good day!
@dadfixdit I appreciate your response and courteous manner. You did explain the process very well. Why not demonstrate the process so we get the advantage from a visual perspective as well? Some of the comments reflect and would benefit from the visual. That's the beauty of youtube. Thank you for creating content!
@@slink1957 I’m sure it will break again, so next time I will video it for sure! Thanks again!
@@slink1957 I had to listen twice and then capiche, so he relays well.
