VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 25. 04. 2020
- The purpose of this video is to show you what you can do if you have a large or ugly trunk.
I split the trunk of this Prune in two making two very different literati style bonsai.

i need only one thing in my life: an update on those trees.
Same.
This and âŹ1'000'000
Peter: "I think I'm going to do something drastic." Me: "Uh oh, here we go!" That did not disappoint! :D
âIâve literally done nothing to this tree except split itâ đ
HAHAHA I can't stop laughing. I like how he still wires it xD
Gotta love this man! :))
The battle scream when he cut off the branch was impressive
"Now I'm goint to take my cleaver back and clean it because I have to cut a duck this evening....", I love this man!
I have been dealing with bonsai and the associated work techniques for around 35 years. I have never seen that anywhere. I am happy to have learned something new again.
If you are on mobile: I see a lot of this technique in the CZcams shorts.
This is probably the boldest decision in making a bonsai IÂŽve ever seen. Thanks for sharing this inspiring piece of art!
Here I am using tweezers to pinch the buds off my pine and Peter just chops his tree in half with a cleaver. What is happening.
âLook at that beautiful split down the middle!â đđ±đł
Peter's going crazy with this Corona virus stuff going on and I love it
@Dog Face Pony Soldier... price
When you've got as many trees as Peter, you'd be incredibly dull not to get crazy once in a while đ
Now I have liter(ati)ily seen everything! Never thought one could even consider this. Thank you Peter for showing such variety in working with bonsai, it is truly inspiring!
I'm surprised the trees don't die, of fright, when they see Peter .
OK, that one made me chuckle out loud at 1:00am.
I genuinely feel bad for the trees and just want to sing them a lullaby now after the trauma it sufferedđ
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Korbyn Harrison Instablaster ;)
@Harrison Landen thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Harrison Landen It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my ass !
Amazing! Never wouldâve thought to spilt the entire tree. They turned out great, so much character
"Trees that struggle to survive the storm" - but maybe not the hand of man, unless it's the hand of Peter Chan! Brilliant!
You see the beauty in a tree where others canât, thank you for your inspirational videos
Stay healthy Peter! We love you!
I'm quite used to see some extreme moves by Peter from time to time but this is on a whole new level :D
Now that something I've never tried before,. wish to see more updates on them trees please Peter. Until the next one, stay safe to all...cheers
Definitely want to see updates on these too!
It's amazing how much 'torture' a plant can withstand. I'd love to see this tree this time next year.
Read 'hidden life of trees'. Answer, probably. They grow away from things that damage them, justbas we would move our hands from heat. Likely due to pain receptors.
This tree will probably die from infection. Trunk innards exposed, roots messed with and branches cut all in one. Typically we say only one insult per season!
đ€Łđđ€Ł
@@leoi3031 - I'm trusting Mr. Chan on this --I think he would say the struggle creates character!
@@leoi3031 So do viruses, but they're not alive. torture implies there is pain to the object
@@leoi3031 You do realize you need a nervous system to have use for pain receptors? The fenomenon "pain' is a product of a nervous system, when you don't have a brain you need pain receptors even less than a fish needs a bycicle.
I feel like I've learned more in the last month just watching these videos than I have in the last decade of figuring things out on my own.
Absolutely wonderful.
He is so good at what he does. I have a greater respect for the bonsaist that use what they have at hand. Thanks Peter!
hands down my all time favorite tutorial on Bonsai. both trees came out spot on. it's humbling watching a master at work.
And people laughed when I took out my reciprocating saw. Now I'll need to add a cleaver to my bonsai toolbox. Way to go, Peter!
" ... struggle to survive against all the storms." so, that means Peter is a storm! A true force of nature!
Ah the old Peter Chan meat cleaver trick, "HOY!"
I imagine when you have done hundreds of trees you get a lot of courage to try drastic things. I hope we can see both these trees next year. I am no expert and I wonder if the thinner of the two will survive. I hope so as it has such a dramatic character.
That was so bold and interesting and fun to watch. I can hardly make the decision to cut off a branch or two when needed and you split that tree without pause. Hope to see the Progress of those next year.
"I'm not happy with how this tree is turning out... IT MUST BE PUNISHED!"
âPunished with loveâ Chinese way.
No No - not punished but enhanced to its full potential.
Lol whatâs your outlook on cosmetic surgery
We better stop mowing our lawns and stop producing fruit n veggies cos plants feel pain.
Don't you know that people kill millions large trees to make your tissue and toilet papers and many other things you use everyday.
Not gonna lie... I thought a couple of times Peter had lost his mind on this one. But he's the master! Certainly method to the madness. Love it!
Peter - Just incredible. Please give us an update on these trees when they leaf out. Thanks so much!
@@lefthandluke8923 - I sure will. One of those trees has just been sold - ie - reserved.
Well, that was the most drastic thing I've seen you do! Please do an update on these trees when/if they recover.
From a straight stump of a tree to possibly my favorite Peter creation ever! Quite wonderful and amazing!!!! Thank you Peter!!!
Thatâs what a said a few months ago... you could make a beautiful tree or two.. out of anything alive!!! Well done Peter!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Master Teacher Chan can plant a broom handle and make it grow.
Holy Moly, That's just amazing how he just does this. I never thought a tree could survive a split. The end result is just lovely again.
âI am going to go clean it (cleaver) and cut a duck this evening.â
I just love the humility of this Bonsai Master. Thank you for your humble, selfless, sincere and enjoyable video lessons!! Just what the world needs more of.
16 weeks of breakfast with Peter.
Stay safe
Stay well
The David Attenborough of bonsai
You're like an old familiar uncle. Love watching your videos.
This guy ceases to. Amaze me ..no fears just a tree
poor cleaver! it will never be the same again! ^^
I am going to do something "a little" drastic...That's quite an understatement....
Interesting video.
Just when I thought Iâve seen everything! That was Amazing! Wow wow wow
You sir... are a madman, and I love it! Amazing to watch you push the boundaries of whatâs possible
Mr. Maverick at it again...a meat cleaver and a log splitter!!! I love that ends the video with a comment, "I've got to clean up the cleaver so I can use it on a duck later in the evening." :)
I have seen this twice and still enjoy what you have made from this tree. Peter I enjoy your video's and never tire of watching. Learning more each time. I now find another use for my cleaver that I never use anymore.
Thank you, Master Chan, for the dramatic trunk splitting with your thinking and beautiful result.
*Peter chan wakes up*
Let's split a tree today.
"I'm going to disinfect this after I'm done with it." đ
I have to say WOW!!! Best one I have seen.
Thanks for sharing. I began by making blackthorn walking sticks, ten years ago. Thatâs what got me started in Bonsai. I decided that every tree I took a stick from, I would gather some seeds each November, so I could give back to nature. Itâs amazing that I cannot get them to survive in my garden, but they have taken in local wasteland., along with hawthorn. I never make Jinâs or Shariâs but they look so great on the blackthorn. Thanks again for posting.
Its a good job trees cant run, there would be no trees left in the nursery, they would all of run away and be hiding from Peter the cleaver.
Lovely idea, lovely result! I hope you will make a second video on those two trees later so we can see how they heal from that "surgery" haha! Thanks for taking the time to share you knoledge!
It's so nice, I think I'll enjoy it twice.
Itâs refreshing to see someone be rough with bonsai. Took a cleaver to that bad boy!
I wonder if the flimsy tree will survive. An update in two weeks and a year would be cool!
I accidentally did that to a Japanese maple and one half was fine.
This is my favorite of your videos so far. I would love to see an update on these two trees next year. I look forward to doing this on a thick, plain trunk some day.
Of course Peter, I enjoy the show. You never fail to amaze us with your techniques in making beautiful bonsai. I learned today from you on what I can do for my bonsai. Unique work of your hands. God bless you , always.
you are a genius Peter
Amazing! I have seen trees, oaks and cedars, get split by lightening and survive. Looks to me like these will. Congratulations!
Now these are two very interesting bonsai! I love them already, and would love to see updates on them in the future!
One day I hope to have a fraction of the knowledge Peter has. I've watched Herons vids for a while now but I wasn't subbed. I just subbed. I love all the content.
The rain was an added bonus!
This was really interesting! didn't know you could just split a tree in half! Thanks Peter :)
I didn't if know if I was going to be able to take all that punishment to the tree LOL, but in the... WOW! This man is a master
I'd love to see these trees today!
Now that's got to be Samurai Bonsai! I wonder if the tree is in as much shock as I am. Another Mr Chan original. Wow!
I would love to see those two trees in a upcoming episode! Thx for sharing this... :)
This is an artistâs job and a master class! Thanks Peter!
Sunday morning with Peter and coffee. Now off to go take care of my bonsai.
Everyday is a Sunday for me right nowđ
Have you got a cleaver ?
No I don't. My trees are way too small to be split in the middle, I am still working on getting thicker trunks so I can give this a try :-)
Love all the videos, there so many it is absolutely priceless! Thank you for sharing!
Amazing idea!
Amazing execution!
Which both come with the experience and wisdom Mr. Chan possesses. Thank you đđ»
How wonderful, Peter! I've never seen anything like it. Thanks for sharing.
Going from slicing a tree trunk to slicing a duck for tea.....love it
Amazing that you still have all your fingers and toes!
PETER ! i almost had a heart attack when i seen you bring out the clever, i would never have thought any one could / would do this to a tree i was affraid the tree was ruined instead it was made into 2 beautiful trees,,,, be strong, be safe, and be blessed
russ sherwood yes my heart was pounding! Great stuff.
My first reaction was đ± but then I remembered Peter did this technique on a Juniper I took to one of his work shops not quite as long but the juniper has been re-potted since with new growth on show. Just think how many of us have stuck plants/trees we dont like in the green bin, this is a new way of looking at ugly ducklings.
This is amazing. Like a mad science project
Congrats on the 150,000 subscribers. Love your content and philosophy. Thanks
Ok everyone stand back, Peter has a meat cleaver! You have taught me so much, keep making videos, and stay well my friend :)
They look great surprisingly lol! The things I learn here always make me laugh! I hope your doing well and thanks for sharing.
Wow, Iâm really curious how these trees will evolve. Amazing work!
Me too but being at an older age I will leave it to my grandson to see how this works out.
@@654wsj I hope you don't really slap your Mom but thanks for encouragement. I'll bet you end up saying the same things when you are her age - LOL
I think this sort of video definitely deserves an update!
Froe or billhook would of worked the treat on that lovely split personality tree! You make the best videos, so glad to learn this!
@heronsbonsai I'd love to see a follow up on these now!
Very informative and step by step instructions....thanks to share
My favorite peter's vĂdeo.
More about carpentry but he's a genius!
I'm really curious about how are doing theses 2 trees.
Wonderfull video! You never cease to amaze!
That was incredible and very inspirational. Thank you!
Dear Peter.
That was seriously "drastic"!!!!
My gosh. I crying behalf of that tree now!!
Pardon.. Two trees
đđđ
Peter goes all Dexter on this one!
This videos gonna be a good one
Peter: casually steps on bonsai material
Try using a mallet next time so you dont damage the cleaver. Just an idea since metal on metal with hardened steel can cause cracking.
Great fun! I am learning a lot. I am thinking of splitting a big mulberry tree I have. đČđ”đłđđâïžđŸđč
Master bonsai to master chef...prunus to duck. I hope we get to see these in the fall and then next spring. It just amazes me how he takes something that most of us would have thrower on the wood pile for the campfire - and turns it in to something quite unique and interesting. I think it will end up looking like it was struck by lightening or a heavy wind hit it. Well done!
As always Peter brings something unusual in bonsai world.i would love to see the follow up.
They both looking great!
Really like the outcome here!! Thanks Peter!
If I were to do something like that to one of my wife's kitchen tools, she would string me up by the neck.
Yesterday, watching the video about the Ficus, I heard Peter say "I'll do a little pruning here" and thought "Be afraid little tree, be very afraid." Little did I know.
I guess the social distancing and isolation in the UK is starting to get to Peter. :)
ted Kell lol
The lockdown has certainly given me more time to make the videos although it is done by self videoing - not the same.
That's a great idea. I've got some prime candidates to try this on! Please keep the vids coming! :)
Sir you are amazing, so positive, calm and nice person. I wish you all the best!
Thanks Peter for giving me some ideas for a few useless trees I dug up.
Fantastic results!
