    I hope that you will enjoy this small review of the mini DS230 pocket oscilloscope. is a very good second oscilloscope for you and a basic oscilloscope for Arduinio, MSP or other every day electronics project. The price seams ok but I recommend you to don’t go lower or your expectation reffered to the sepecs of the device will not be as you wish. I’ve show you the basics of this mini DSO but the final decision depends on you. Check the links above if you want to buy one.

      Come on, this is a pain, and is the last unit any beginner should get as their first scope.
      gotta wonder how you can even conclude that.
      Have yo actually purchasedc this yourself, or did some Chinese vendor greased you with one, in exchange that you pushed it onto your viewers.
      where are you from with such a backbone? LOL.. you stats claim you in the USA...sure buddy, ofcourse you are.
      Are you form Russia? since you tend to do to these rancid extremes, or is it simply how you are wired.. dishonest as f..hopefully such behavior will land you a curveball down the line from life.
      Any newcommer should not get such a pocketsize scope, its cumbersome to work with.. get one that is easy to manage and dial in settings...and a decent size screen so you can see what is unfolding.
      a pocket size scope like these DS211/212/213 etc, is intended as secondary units and they are heavy to work with, if its intended as your only scope as a newcommer..

    Hey, thanks for great tutorial video. I've had this device sitting in the pocket of my backpack for 3 years and never actually used with it because I never found the time to really figure out how to use it. (And the docs came on mini DVD ... I have 0 DVD players in my several computers.) Your video finally got me up and working. THANKS!

    This was helpful. I didnt understand much of the menu navigation on my DS203. It was a frustration. You should do more on this.

    Thanks for the review, I've actually been looking at these for a few years but never could decide if it was worth it or to spend a little more for a usb style one used with a laptop.

    thank you for the great video. Have been wanting to get either the aeswave or this one. Have been leaning towards this one. Your awesome video confirmed it for me. Much better than aeswave's offering.

    • @Spelter
      @Spelter Před 4 lety

      The aeswave is not that good too I think, it's still a SoC solution. For cars, this is enough and it's small enough for my toolbox. A cover and a few probes are enough. And there is s mcx to BNC adapter for small money, so these special connectors and probes are more for the home. Getting the coil signal with an amp clamp does not work for these small devices, look into dso controllers like Hantek you can use with a mobile phone or tablet.

    A very capable improved software is available called Wildcat. It does all that the default software does, plus fft, map display, serial signal sniffing and other things. Bandwidth is respectable. There are two versions depending on your hardware. The users manual for Wildcat is all prose and no pictures but is clear and usable. Wildcat can be the default software, or it can be alternative software so that you choose which software you want to boot with.

    Nice review. I would find it difficult to work with this thing since its so small, hard to operate buttons, and doesn't have any sort of a stand.
    Also, I find that Banggood prices are way more than AliExpress.
    Do you have any reviews on the 100MHz Hantek DSO5102P?
    I am sure this small scope is good for many, just not for me.

      Ifyour planning to use iDSO5102P in automotive disgnose. It was not compatible with Hantek HT-25 Capacitive probe for Secondary Ignition Voltage... Display looks like distorted sinewave.......
      No problem display of Primary Ignition voltage using standard X10 Test probe.

    Wow - I looked for Wildcat 5.6 firmware, and there is no longer any working link to download the hex file. I have already got Wildcat on my HW 2.72 DSO quad, been on it for several years and it is amazing firmware that takes this scope several steps beyond. Github has the source code and you can compile this yourself.

    This looks ideal if it wasn't for the crappy framerate, making it useless for audio signals. I guess I'll have to buy the $20 to get more than 5 FPS...

    Is this a decent device for detecting distortion and clipping in car audio amplifiers?

    • @KEJA2k
      @KEJA2k Před 6 lety +4

      Yes, Since car audio is generally 20Hz-20KHz even 10Hz-30Khz is well within Specs of 8MHz limit of this scope and should give a decent idea of frequency vs level and distortion. It is ideal for audio. This Scope was a crowd designed project back, starting in early 2006s from a few of us around the world centered in China. I was an early member and was involved in design suggestions and programming. Have used it for 12 yrs thru several generations. Mine is in a plastic prototype case before it went commercial. Probably the most sophisticated Pico Scope on the market. Chips have since improved a lot, so maybe it's time to upgrade the design to perhaps 20MHz and beyond, Yay

      Max transient-withstanding voltage is ± 400 V peak value.
      Measure voltage range
      Measure frequency range
      Max input voltage of logic probe is ±15 V peak value.
      I couldn't find in the manual nothing about protection against voltages higher than 400V. If you check the schematic here: www.elechouse.com/elechouse/images/product/DS203/DS203_Manual.pdf you could see some safty features!
