Hero's are those who can go past where most people don't dare to go, it isn't always pretty there is a reason people don't dare to go there so thank your hero for doing what you are too afraid to do. Whether it is goblin slayer killing the weak goblins to prevent them from spreading or a gas station employee keeping the lights on so you can get gas during a pandemic. It might not be glorious but it's the difference between this will blow over and this is the end.
It depends on the campaign and the group you play with. But you could very easily play a Goblin Slayer campaign. The depth of the darkness it entirely up to the group dynamic.

When there is plague you send plague doctors. When there is war you send soldiers. When there is goblins? You send a demon in knight armour with these orders, "rip and tear until the enemy is exterminated"
I feel the same character vibe you do, Goblin slayer is a great character in my op because unlike most anime MC's he is not over powered as hell from the get go. he is just a guy that has been practicing his skill for a long time and is really good at it. Using his brain and knowledge of the enemy to achieve his goals and that is why I think he is a more realistic character. Also I like the fact that he come to realize that friends are a good thing and that he has found it in himself to trust his party to help.
So the reason he kills the children it because they hold a life time grudge but so has the goblin slayer so in a way isn’t he kinda like a goblin I mean he holds a life time grudge

I feel the same character vibe you do, Goblin slayer is a great character in my op because unlike most anime MC's he is not over powered as hell from the get go.
he is just a guy that has been practicing his skill for a long time and is really good at it.
Using his brain and knowledge of the enemy to achieve his goals and that is why I think he is a more realistic character.
Also I like the fact that he come to realize that friends are a good thing and that he has found it in himself to trust his party to help.
