Honestly? It is really hard. And no there aren’t many vegan restaurants, not when compared to major western cities at least. My vegetarian friend told me a story when he returned back from a business trip in Korea. He told that they went to a Restaurant and he wanted to order something vegetarian. Since he didn't understand Korean, he let his Korean colleagues order for him after communicating to them that he wanted something vegetarian. They brought a whole chicken with a lot of rice. When they returned, he said that he can't eat meat including chicken. So, the restaurant ended up removing the chicken and served him the leftover plain white rice.
I’ve heard that in Korea “meat” refers to mammals essentially - so chicken and fish are not considered meats. So when asking for vegetarian foods you need to mention “only vegetables” or list all the types of meats you don’t want - I looked it up cause I don’t eat meat either haha
The only traditional Korean food I'm aware of that's always been vegan is the stuff in Korean temple cuisine. Even the common spicy cabbage kimchi people usually associate with Korean food isn't traditionally vegan.

For thoose who dont know its a soup that chef created in north korea and it has dark story on it it actually contains dog meat
If you don't know Boshintang is Dog meat soup /:
"Hi Korean"
"Hi vegan"
GOT ME WHEEZING- EVEN THO I WATCH HIS VIDS A 100 TIMES👁👄👁
Your so good at english 😩✨
As an indian (veg guy mainly you know) its very relatable as im in vietnam
For those who didn't understand, Boshintang it's a soup whose main incredients is dog meat 😢 ( it's not a joke)
I'm vegan and I LOVE Korean food! ❤️ There are lots of vegan Korean chefs on CZcams and I also bought a few books. My favorites to make are tteokbokki, rabokki, kimchi, braised tofu (or any kind of tofu, really) and Sundubu-jjigae 😋 now I hungry. Bibimbap is also super easy to veganize, either by removing the egg, or you can also add fake meat/tofu. Yummy!
Yes! So many Korean dishes can be made vegan!
Are you That vegan teacher?
👍👍👍💜
@@MeruutoTWO yes. Every vegan you ever meet is the vegan teacher. Here's your congratulations cookie for making the worst joke on CZcams 🍪
Yesss i love cooking korean food. So many dishes are naturally already Vegan. For kimchi I just use a vegan fish sauce. And for anchovy stock I use vegan dashi granules. So many Vegan sweets too. Just made some chapssal donuts for the first time. Soooo good 😋
보신탕/개장국 is North Korean dish and in this recipe dog meat use as a primary ingredient.this is for increasing virility in north Korean peoples.....
Actually both two country eat that....
Many people have eaten Bosintang since the Joseon Dynasty. It's not North Korean dish
@@lzm6080 but now it's unpopular in south Korea
I don t care for what is used it s dogs abuse and you can see that in a lot of documentarist also on youtube video that made go an inspector to control the dog meat industry
For people who don’t understand Boshintang is basically a soup that is made from dogs that’s basically it
There’s also something called “kimchi” yum it’s just spice with cabbage or something else
R.I.P. man's best friend
We never deserved you.
May you have all the best belly rubs and treats in doggie heaven!
its sad but it happens...
“There is egg, I can’t eat egg.”
*what about the meat..?*
There actually are some kind of bibimbap without meat. Since the sauce makes most of the taste so no worries
the veggies are more important as ingredients than the steak or fried egg i guess
Glad to see that it's funny, no negative stereotypes.
I remember when I was posted to SK in the late 60s. They were pretty poor country and most of their dishes consist of vegis. But now a days nearly all their dishes have meat in it.
“Hey Korean”
“Hey vegan”
This part killed me😂
For the people who don’t know what boshintang is its a stew which sadly has dog meat in it. 😔
Why sad? It's call boshin for a reason. It's good for ur body
Why you sad it’s for eating
@@presidentjiang6762 ikr people get heart broken when they see dogs getting eaten but they don’t even know that individual dog but they act like it’s there pet getting eaten but those same kind of people love seeing chickens and cows being killed for meat I’m not vegan or vegetarian I’m just saying to not hate people for eating traditional food
Ok so for allllll the people wondering what is BOSHINGTANG it is NORTH KOREAN dish which is a spicy soup with dog meat 😢
For those who don't know what boshingtan it's a North Korean dish made with dog meat
Its actually Not that hard to bea vegan in Seoul There are many vegan Restaurants und you can eat bibimbap without the egg, kimbap without egg or meat or Japchae. You only need a few words in Korea to get around. Also Koreans are very respectful and give their best to help U out with finding Something vegan to eat
Honestly? It is really hard. And no there aren’t many vegan restaurants, not when compared to major western cities at least. Most restaurants in Korean won’t have anything you can eat as a vegan (and that could count as a full meal) and there is very little cultural awareness and acceptance of vegetarianism/veganism
It's getting little difficult now in india to find pure veg hotels,
@@india4368you won't find many pure veg restaurants in India, but most restaurants offer a good amount of vegetarian meals.
@@misskrishna1 no there r some pure vegetarian hotels especially in Bangalore
@@india4368 lol, you just said it's getting hard to find pure veg restaurants in India though? What are you on, bro?
ngl when i visited korea to visit my whole other family, when i went to my moms side, every meal we had, we had korean bbq
For those who dont know , boshintangs main ingredient is dog meat.
Tried that. Actually tastes decent.
What is last one👀!?
I'm vegetarian too👀 i think I can't eat any Korean food except kimchi fried rice😭
It’s a soup made with dog meat as its primary ingredient
It's dog stew😮
If you are a pure vegetarian..you can't eat kimchi... because they add fish oil in it ...🙃
Kimchi isn't vegan... It contains fish and squid sauce in the base
Actually in kimchi sometimes they put pickled shrimp in it.
You can eat japchae (there is egg in it tho)
Vegetarian gimbap
fact: ther is a lot of korean food with no meat(Especially temple food and side dishes)
Really and I thought korean food is all about meat 😁 but thanks for the information
@@pujakhatri3597 And even if a dish has a lot of meat, it's still paired with even more vegetables and vegetable side dishes. It's very balanced, in my opinion.
@@iagreewithyou3478 oh ok thank you 😊
We have samgyeopsal in the philippines but we call it samgyup or samgyupsal
I'm vegetarian too
Does korea have any vegetarian dishes?? 😅
Bhai tum vegetarian nhi ho kya ?
I’ve heard that in Korea “meat” refers to mammals essentially - so chicken and fish are not considered meats. So when asking for vegetarian foods you need to mention “only vegetables” or list all the types of meats you don’t want - I looked it up cause I don’t eat meat either haha
When he say hi vegan I’m burst out laughing 😂
you seem like you didnt get any sleep i apreacheate ur cheerfull content
When i searched that up i was traumatized, dead, having a breakdown, dead.

your English accent is so cute. I just listen to you for your accent 🥰
We were kindly given Nori by our Korean housemate. We enjoy Nori
The only traditional Korean food I'm aware of that's always been vegan is the stuff in Korean temple cuisine. Even the common spicy cabbage kimchi people usually associate with Korean food isn't traditionally vegan.
I was like what--
But when I searched in Google I was likeㅇㅁㅇ
Moral of this story: There is no vegan in Korea...😅
That why im proud of korea
@Disha Prabhugaonkar but vegans don't even eat or drink animal products
There is a CZcams channel called Alexandra Olesan. The owner and her sister are half Korean and both are vegan. I had no idea there were so many amazing vegan cafes in Korea😊
