In earlier days we use to play with turmeric powder because during particular season to keep away from some disease the whole village people we use to play with turmeric water by pouring others because turmeric is a antibiotic but nowadays it's not possible to play with turmeric powder or water but during village festival time we use to do this
@culturecurryreaction - While holiday is to have fun but it has a proper basis and it being welcoming spring. The colours represent the various flowers and leaves and the joy it bring along with it and the appreciation for nature. In its true sense ppl used natural colours from roots and flowers but in this day and age artificial colors are most affordable hence their usage. The festivities are more celebration of life and worshipping nature. I feel that understanding that very sense of why India does things uniquely is important and their traditions stem from much deeper sense than just something very trivial. I only learnt all these things from my 3 year thesis for my Ph.D about south Asian culture.
