Assassin's Creed Mirage is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. It will be the thirteenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and the successor to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Principally set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, the game will follow Basim Ibn Ishaq (a character first introduced in Valhalla) and his transition from street thief to fully-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood, who fight for peace and liberty, against the Templar Order, who desire peace through control. The game has been described as a return to the series' roots, with a bigger focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay than more recent installments, which primarily focused on role-playing and open world elements.
Mirage is set to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Amazon Luna on October 12th, 2023.

The animations are what surprised me the most. In the latest Assassin's Creed titles that was one area that was lacking the most in my opinion because the thing that made the franchise what it is today is mostly parkour and slick combat which was almost completely done away with and replaced with hack and slash combat and very simple climbing mechanics like in Shadow of Mordor.
ABSOLUTE CAP same game since ac 1 get over it fake ac fanboy
@@litt420 bro said fake AC fanboy like he was wrong... where's the lie? are you gonna tell me valhalla is the same as AC 2? that odyssey is the same as AC2?
Weapons animations look different but I feel as tho alot of these animations are from Valhalla or similar
@@jayjay24155 it's still on the same engine so a lot of the parkour is probably going to be similar.

It actually looks like something fun to play. Which for me and my relationship with modern AC is pretty high praise.
No preorder from me, but it's on my radar.

The packed city with close rooftops and scaffolding make me hopeful for a return of an actually engaging parkour system and not just "hold X to climb everything". I doubt we'll get anything like Unity had but a man can hope.
U clearly didnt play ths gamesđ
@@litt420 L
@@litt420 I have 100% in every AC title and currently playing through Valhalla so...
@@litt420 Nah he's right. The old games you could walk, walk faster, run and free-run. When i played Origins onward, it took me some time getting used to the character only having the running speed, they didn't even bothered to change the animation when you hold X to free-run.
â@@litt420 You clearly didn't play the older games.
Finally. Iâve been waiting years for an experience like this. Still remaining skeptical until I see a gameplay walkthrough or something similar, but overall feeling positive.
Valhalla was garbage I bought the game and tried playing until I reached a point where I didnât want to restart every time to kill more bosses than it originally was for the Odin potion
The second this game got announced to be a return to the old ways I was so pumped. After seeing this gameplay it looks phenomenal and I genuinely donât think I couldâve expected how good it does look. As long as performance is stable I think this game could be a great sign as to Ubisoft listening and trying to rebuild a connection to AC roots and the fans that have been around since the early days
Bro they already have plans to go back to the giant rpg version of AC after this. So this one better sell more than Valhalla so they can change course
I personally don't see what everyone's talking about how they are all excited about it looking back to the roots only thing back to the roots is the story and lore the gameplay is literally valhalla reskin even the animations are the same as eivors
@@demetter7936 I think it will be similar to the OG in terms of story, characters, world building and to some extent gameplay. It really looks like this game is a love letter to the original game. Hope i'm right.
Pretty sure theyâre still trying to please both audiences, just in a much more smarter way now since itâd just separate games between classical and rpg
youre deluded
As far as the hand to hand. I think it's possible they just picked those moments because they are more eye-catching, while in the actual gameplay this was someone that was starting to lose control of the mission and being forced into some combat before they make an escape.
It could also be a high skill gameplay thing.
Like "Yeah you're not very durable, you'll die in a couple hits, but if you're GOOD enough, you CAN just walk in and fight the entire compound, that's your decision."
They're also showing you fighting like one or two people, so it could also be instead of assassinating individuals you isolate and fight them. Which isn't the most efficient way to play, but that's a style some people will like too, and it's cool that it's an option. That alone will increase the appeal of the game, because lots of people just DON'T like games that demand total stealth. Even when those games are done really well, not having the option of "Just walk up and swing a sword at this guy" is a deal breaker for many people.
This looks good. Something I found interesting is that the trailer seems to hint that the assassination missions and the variety of ways you can kill people and tackle those missions had a very similar feeling to the IO Hitman trilogy
And AC unity because you had the ability to create diversions and plan your assassinations.
And the chain assassination feature looks brutal. Canât wait to see how they utilized it.
unfortunately for me its ubisoft, so that means I cant be bothered to download or use their proprietary launcher/software to play the game, or make another account for another random online service I don't want or need. Shame, if they ditched the Uplay bullshit id prob have played one of their games since getting my PC. Steam GOG and Epic are basically all I will ever use and if I am required to download anything else to play a game Ill just pass or have to pirate.
@@MattyBudzzz Why are you here then? Good riddance. lol
@@KenEvangelista im here because I enjoy luke stephans content and support him lol. Blow me
Looks a lot like Valhalla. The parkour, camera, and general movement looks very similar
That's fine. As long as they don't go crazy with monetizations and in-game purchases I'm fine. Also please release a finished game Ubisoft. But Ubisoft will screw this up somehow.
I mean it was build on valhalla engine
@@MrREAPERsz It's Ubisoft bro lol
@@gavo117 lol I know. They'll fuck this up and we all know it. But I hope they don't.
@@MrREAPERsz What's the problem with the skins and the cosmetics? Just dont buy skins. If somebody want to purchase a 100$ skin, they are free to do it. It's their money.
Thank God, we finally got an Assassin's Creed game after 7 years!
What do you mean? We had one in 2020 with Ghost of Tsushima đ
@@SuperNeos2 yeah but that was with samurai, not assassins.
â@@krustytheclown2627 it was more of a joke
Origins
â@@SuperNeos2 funny thing is ghost of tsushima 2 probably will release in the same year as RPG AC red so we'll have a traditional assassin's creed set in Japan vs another RPG creed set Japan
Iâm most afraid for the movement and parkour. Since ac unity, Iâve been wanting to see the same or at least similar freerun + parkour system. Ubisoft did say that they took movement inspiration from the old games and unity in particular, but in it just looks as simple as origins so far, but maybe Iâll be wrong. Expectations are low though :P
@Kx xK Yea, i really hope there will be a manual jump button implemented into the game, so that we can at least do stuff like side ejects
An Altair legacy outfit would look *insane*
I agree. His outfit already looks similar. Also the cut ring finger was a nice touch.
Nah, I hate immersion breaking stuff like that. The game is supposed to be set before Altair's time, having his armor would make no sense
â@@PaulXPZIt's optional for players. If you don't want Shut the f up. Ignore it. Let us play.
I want an aguialr outfit
Literally, my biggest gripe with Valhalla was the emptiness and poor level design of the cities and the "open world" aspect. It never felt like you could string all of your tools together in one location, and it was very limiting. If their goal is a more focused singular city, I'm all for it. I'll take depth over grand scale any day of the week.
Edit: This is for those griping about Origins or asking, "Why does Origins receive no criticism?". I only brought up Valhalla because it was the most recent game, and Mirage was intended to be dlc for THAT game. Stop being weird. It's not that deep.
Same with Origins the emptiness of the desert just did not feel right
How does Origins keep escaping criticism? It was the same thing there. Copy and Paste cities spread out
@@Daniboi971 i think there's 2 reasons:
1. The main character and story was in captivating and all around pretty good compared to the following games.
2. They didn't lean too hard into the magic shit in terms of combat.
I think this made the experience as a whole more enjoyable and recognisable to previous ac games. Oh and people say that story wise the flaws of the game make sense due to it being the "origins" of assassin's creed
I'd say at least 90% of ppl share this view, so why the hell do developers/publishers force so much grand scale shit?
â@@tonyal3235that was quite litterally the result of their effort to do exactly that. It's a desert bruh
It's about bloody time and i hope this is the game to take the series back to it's roots, it certainly looks like it is
Bro the gameplay made me so happy man I didnât expect it to play so good and it really does look like the older games. THEIR LEARNING even if itâs a little
It actually looks more like an original assassinâs creed game
The parkour didn't seem to really be on display in the trailer.
You know itâs gonna have 5 expansions, 50 dlcs of armour for your character/horse/weapons
And a constantly updating skin/ storefront. I just hope it isnât shoved in our faces like it is in the other games.
I'm honestly hoping we will have the ability to change our gender identity on the fly depending on our feelings. Like one day we could be male, the next female, and the next day we could be a peanut butter fetish having rock person. Can't wait!!
Movement wise, it looks a lot like valhalla (I don't say this with the best intent, I wasn't a fan at all of movement in it), understandably so ofc given how it is the same engine, but what I expect is that with that parkour it won't be that enjoyable to move around the city.
I am still staying skeptical and cautious, waiting for straight gameplay outside a trailer with edits and fancy cinematic camera angles..
Valhalla best parkour in the entire series keep talking your nostalgy
â@@litt420 I never knew opinions could be wrong.
@@litt420 troll
Not gonna lie, the parkour is not what I anticipated to be like Unity level of parkour
Given the pre-order bonus I'm skeptical that Mirage won't have any monetization under their Helix credit system, but it's looking good so far!
In the trailer, when Basim does the ledge assassination, a random guard that shouldn't have noticed makes what looks like a combate stance, I hope thats just a bug and not a sign that the detection might be just a as broken as it is in valhalla.
I don't share your issues with Valhalla. I remember doing window and ledge assassinations and never being detected.
@MĂĄsz KĂĄlmĂĄn Sorry to hear that that was an issue for you.
Seems like an awkward half measure between og and new Ac, like you canât have a dense city with loads of parkour opportunities but then have the movement be like Origins. It fundamentally doesnât mix
Yes movements seems so slugish and doesnt fit we need unity movement
Right they said it will be lik unity
@@flashyk2430 They said that but the footage doesnât support it
Doesnât even need to be like Unity necessarily, just faster and more expressive than everything since. I just want back and side ejects back properly⊠and catch ledge too actually
Exactly
You people just can't ever be satisfied. No matter what they do, you'll find a reason to complain smh
If they keep this up, I'll definitely pick this up. Still want an actual gameplay demo, but it's looking decent so far. Actually looks like it'll feel like an assassins creed game instead of an rpg disguised as one.
Iâm guessing Basims garb will upgrade over time, seeing how many different interpretations there are, maybe like the first game where itâs automatic, or later games where you upgrade the assassin at your own merits.
YES! honestly hyped!!!
I love seeing a bridge between a broadened combat system and great stealth mechanics. I hope that either way you engage with a task, it feels good and deep. The stealth đ
You got high hopes for Ubisoft man.
@@ethanwintersseveredhand not really. Gameplay looks fine, the issues I bet will arise from outside of gameplay issues like monetization or performance.
still cant believe this is the first AC game that actually LOOKS like an AC game after 6+ years
Things I'm worried about are;
1. To many MTX's and not enough unlockable gear in-game
2. No NG+ or sufficient replay options
3. Slow/heavy parkour like ACV
4. Not enough NPCs in the city(10 on screen is sufficient)
5. Not enough post launch support
6. Pointlessly placed social interactions and broken stealth
To name a few. But overall im hyped and happy about what was shown and rumored! Great vid Luke!
The parcour will be faster
7. It's just yet another RPG marketed as 'different'.
I just want Baghdad to be a populated city, I wish parkour was like unity but apparently itâs more like origins
@@FauxReal. its from the valhalla engine with slight changes
This looks like AC2 city environment all over again
I'm actually genuinely excited for Mirage. First time since like black flag and origins which I really love since I'm a huge ancient Egypt nut
So pumped to try and be a stealth God againđ
So far with what I've seen almost everything looks amazing, but one thing i really want to see is one side-eject, if I see basim able to do one side-eject/back eject I'm sold and happy as can be, as of now I'm worried they just kept the exact same parkour from the RPG trilogy and just made more obstacles for us to run on to give the elusion that the parkour in better, when in theory it's the exact same. What made old AC parkour so great was not just that the world was built for parkour, but that the assassin's we played as were built for parkour. Of course the world being built for it is very important but I love not having to take a predetermined route made by the game devs and make my own route using side ejects and jack ejects to traverse onto different parkour paths and roof tops, that's what made old AC traversal great.
I hope they expand on the parkour moves and bring some even back, like the vault from AC1, which looks sick.
I love the old style. I also don't mind the large open worlds games though. Can't wait for this.
I don't want to get my hopes up but at the same time I'm really hoping they get this one right. So far it looks amazing. But these days you can never tell for sure until it's out.
Ah Luke, you never disappoint. I was really hoping for this video. Thanks mate đ€
Everything looks great, only thing that looks iffy is the strange sort of teleporting assassination, Iâd be fine if Basim became like a blur and moved quickly between enemies but it seems like he teleports with a strange blue glow, either way Iâm hyped
That's the only thing that makes me nervous, I hope it's an optional thing though and we're not forced to use it.
My guess is maybe some kind of multi chain assassination? Like each blue copy indicates a person he can chain especially if he is like a glass cannon it would be super useful
@@GulagGoose Ye I was thinking it could be like the Fear Takedown from Arkham Knight, just hope it doesn't rely on "Magic" or superpowers lol
@@astoraan6071 if basim is somehow in hold of a piece of eden, then i suppose it makes sense. Leonidas' spear was one and that explains a chunk of the things you can do
Maybe a magic power like in Valhala and Odisey
i'm a little worried about the parkour but as long as it feels on par with the kenway saga i'll be happy
@@maszkalman3676 i'm gonna hold out hope đ
I haven't played an Assassin's Creed since Black Flag but that trailer hit all the right nostalgia points for me, I may actually check this one out.
id like THQ mx reflex getting restored to that kind of precision with the Physx and movements
It feels like it's a more stealthy version of Origins as that game was probably the last Assassin's Creed that you could actually use stealth, and so I'm still hyped for AC Mirage and hopefully it's what we expect it to be.
If this game turns out to be actually as good as the trailer makes it look, we all have to buy it so that Ubisoft gets the message that this is what we want. And I hope this turns out to be a return to form for AC
It's ubisoft don't hold you're breath đđ
theyâre going back to rpg elements after mirage, sadly.
There's a part in the the trailer where Basim jumps down and takes out the 3 guards (2 hitting the wooden posts and the trainer) I'm getting Arkham Knight fear takedown vibes from that. I'm intrigued đ
Some little details down to the facial animations look fantastic. Can't forget the genuine look of surprise the guard had on his face right before being murdered at the end of the trailer. Can't wait to see more of this game.
Let me tell you, the speed I tapped this was ridiculous.
Looks pretty good to me, honestly. One thought that did cross my mind is that the graphics in AC games haven't really taken much of a leap forward since unity or origins. Graphics aren't really everything though and maybe this short trailer doesn't do the game justice in terms of its graphical fidelity.
That's also my concern. There are some parts of the trailer where the game actually does look really good and others where I was somewhat disappointed
@@nilovino8179 I'm wondering if it has to do with them still releasing it on ps4 and xbox one. Perhaps having to include the old consoles prevents them from updating their game engine or something like that.
Yea i think that video game graphics improvement has slowed down a bit over the years but I think its fine because they still look great visually. I think art style makes more of a difference than graphics because there are games that may not be the most graphically impressive (botw for example) but are still very immersive and look great. Personally, I dont care about graphical improvements as much anymore, like if gta 6 looks as good as rdr2 i would be fine with that
@@Spider-Man-Hampter I agree. Most triple A titles have perfectly adequate graphics or better. My friend and I were just talking recently about gta 6 and wondering how they could improve on red dead 2 graphics because the graphics are just so good in that game.
Yep, this really does feel like a "Valahah" DLC
hey man! appreciate the video and all the videos you make. Please keep up with the content. I fell out of this series after black flag. But i do like the way this looks.
Was the trailer a mix of gameplay in cinematic because that's what it looked like to me but it also look like Ubisoft is actually trying with this game which I'm happy to see because I was on the fence about getting it until there was little bits of gameplay that reminded me of like oh this is going to be a classic style assassin's Creed game
ik i might sound crazy, but if u look at 7:45 you will see three blue shadows behind each of the targets... it looked like a power from odyssey that kills the targets instantly and can be recast 2 more times i think... my guess is that we will get a skill tree with unlockable "powers" ... again, i might be crazy... if you stop frame for frame on the third kill you will see that he kinda telastransported
Massively looking forward to this, really brought me back to the first Assassinâs Creed. Youâre actually an Assassin in this game! Iâm very much looking forward to the one set in Japan as well though, because I did like the larger âtouristâ maps from Origins and Odyssey (Valhalla, not so much).
Back to it's roots with all the parkour aswell
I also like how this game seems to have taken inspiration from the PoP games as well (for obvious reasons) and maybe even inspiration in the combat department too
There is lot of reference to pop in this trailer
Specially warrior within and sand of time both game and movie
Imagine if mirage has warrior within freestyle combat system
@@harsh111yt That's exactly what I'm thinking and it would be so cool if it did
It looks piss poor in my opinion, and anyone willing to give Ubisoft their money after all the rape scandals that they STILL have not apologised for or settled is perpetuating a system of abuse with their wallets. If you must own the game, at least pirate it or buy it second hand, please.
Yeah I dont know how anyone is impressed by this
It's barely in development, plus it was originally meant to be a DLC, now it's a standalone, so you have NOT seen the finished product yet.
So hyped for this. I will say though, the biggest surprise was MGS3 remake and my god dude I am SOOOOOO shocked but hyped for it xD
I finally feel so vindicated at the fact Iâm gonna be able to play a next gen amazing looking real assassins creed game, Iâve missed it so much
Luke Stephens, youâre the man! Thank you for this video! This game looks promising, and the effort is there. You can see UBISOFT really put their heart and soul into this game. I am not skeptical, Iâm HYPED!
Donât get too hyped and donât do something irrational like pre order and give them your money until the final product is released and reviewed.
like valhalla?
This is literally just valhalla reskinned in Baghdad with different combat animations. Gonna be shit.
Very hyped. Hopefully the quality is there.
Until I saw the title card I genuinely thought this was an Assassinâs Creed 1 remake
Hopefully there is no naval combat. Get that shit out of my AC games.

How can anyone say this looks good? Literally nothing exciting, and showcasing old game mechanics. Looks like a trailer for a game coming out in 2010.
Totally agree
So excited
The thumbnail outfit looks really cool lmao that be dope in the game
game looks like shit i will pick it up on bargain bin sale or probably pirate it
Man I absolutely love your gaming room đ
Looking forward to this.
I was honestly not expecting to be THIS excited for Mirage! Iâm still going to air on the side of caution, but from what I saw, Iâm extremely pleased, and I canât wait for itâs release in October!!
The combat looks smooth, the graphics are crisp, the lighting is beautiful, the city is gorgeous and dense, and weâre finally getting a solid return to a (similar) gameplay experience that made the franchise as big as it is today!
The only thing I wish we could see more of is the climbing/descending mechanics. But for now, Iâm content with what we have! Now if this game holds up, and does extremely well, I hope it reshapes the franchise in a more traditional direction going forward into AC Red, AC Hexe, and all the other upcoming AC titles! For the first time in a long time Iâm excited for a Ubisoft game, that makes me happy!
Comes out on my birthday been my favorite thing since I was a kid now on my 22nd birthday they go back to what I liked about the AC franchise so thatâs hype
Imagine if you can leave footprints in rugs such that they can alert gaurds if you're trying to be sneaky.
welcome back old friend
the top black keyboard isn't on your setup link. where did you get it????
When Basim was running, he looked like the Valhalla animation. I'm hoping that the old low profile and high profile system comes back, and the parkour is real this time.
Combat animations are back in proper !
I was wondering this since a while, but where does the valaha audio thing comes from?
Animations look so clean and buttery smooth and feels so seamless and the game looks awesome a smaller game and more assassins creed and the game looks to be really awesome on release and seems really good
Hopefuly we have much more parkour on top of buildings
Ac needs good melee combat for sure on top of the focused stealth. Thatâs a must for me in order to have variety and fun. Especially when you get killed so easily that adds weight to your decision making and how long youâll stick around to fight. The wanted system sounds interesting, hopefully it doesnât encumber gameplay too much.
Huh, it comes out on my birthday. Neat!
They've done something different with the camera and I really dig it
Back to the old ways and thatâs awesome
Iâm definitely looking forward to it
yes i m excited
It's exactly what i thought it was gonna be, not a return to "stealth" like they advertised to bait old school fans, more like an upgraded version of Valhalla's DLC "Siege Of Paris" with the focus on investigation and opportunities a la Hitman (the "Blackbox" system from Unity & Syndicate) and Baghdad as a bigger, more detailed Paris. But it's clear they aren't giving up on their "play as want" BS and stealth is still completely optionnal.
I'm really excited about Mirage. Here's to hoping !!
So excited đ
Hopefully this game is a success for Ubisoft and gets positive reception from us (the fans). If this game succeeds I think Ubisoft will start heavily pushing back into the original roots of AC. Weâll hopefully get our AC1 remake, AC from then on goes back to the Unity engine, parkour becomes complex again.
I hope It's HARD but fair, where you will lean more at the stealth mechanics.
I once played AC games for the cloth physics, and I'm glad they're bringing it back.
This looks like it could be the first assassins creed Iâll beat since Black Flag
Totk also has proved that games looking similar isnât a huge deal as long as the gameplay feels good and rewarding
I'm excited to see, what they do to basims story after valhalla.
It has the same simplified movement and parkour from Origins, no manual sprint button, etc.
I have absolute faith in Ubisoft's ability to ruin everything.
baghdad looks so detailed man it looks like the entirety of valaha condensed into one place
100% in on this. So glad to be going back old school
most excited for mirage, spiderman 2 and ghostrunner 2. Can't wait for these
I am intrigued about this game. It looks like it's coming together. Very beautiful esthetic wise and the game play looks good so far. Overall looking forward to this game in October.
It has the spin attack from ac revelations

This literally just looks like an update to AC1 with modern graphics and hardware. I could not be more excited. If it turns out to be good, I will absolutely buy it.
