Hi, guy! I'm from Italy, near Venice, i love absolutely shmups in every form, and of course i love the way you tell about them! Great work mate! ( Excuse my very bad english!)
Thanks very much. I'm building a nice collection of Nintendo Switch shmups at the moment and will show them all soon. Your English is better than some English people 😆👍
Thanks very much but I think I could have done things better. It's too big a genre to do off the top of your head so maybe a bit more research and splitting it over two videos might have produced a more complete overview. I might do another shorter vid to explain this 🤔
@@kennyrh9269 Maybe write a rough outline of the video to help you as you are recording it. Either way, I'm looking forward to it. Always love seeing people promote shmups! :) Great collection, by the way.
@@MarioNintendoh Yes I never have any bullet points in front of me. Maybe I should but normally I'm mentally prepared. This one was kind of a last minute decision. I think there are another couple of shmup-related vids on the channel
Excellent video and collection showcase! Many thanks for sharing with younger fans of the genre your knowledge and perspective. By far, one of the most valuable videos I have ever seen on the topic. Would love to see more shmup content from someone as knowledgeable as you in the future, I could listen all day! Kind regards from Spain. David.
Thanks very much David. To be honest I wasn't totally happy with it because it was a bit of a rush job. Much of the content was off the top of my head and I maybe should have done a little more research. The number of views was encouraging however. Greetings to Spain and I have a shmup video coming soon with my growing Switch collection as the subject 🤞👍
I still like to use shooters/shooting games whenever i can. Shmup isn't the best name in my opinion and i have so much respect for mentioning that they weren't called shmups back then. Also glad you mentioned the Commodore/Amiga. Silkworm was my favorite shooter when i started playing shooters more seriously at around 1991.
Hi there. Yes I agree, shmups is an ugly word but unfortunately it's passed into common usage. I prefer the Japanese term STG. There were some great shooters on the Amiga and, although it's quite an early one, Menace is still a favourite of mine. Love that music. I have Banshee for the CD32 . . .rock hard. The PC Engine is my go-to for Arcade conversions. Great console especially the Turbo Duo for quality music.
Very pleased to hear that and thanks. The reason I do these videos is not to show off but rather to inform and educate people who may be new to a particular hobby. A quick tip for you . . .if you see a shmup you really want check out what it sold for in the completed listings on ebay and maybe be patient and not jump on the the first one you see. Shmup collecting can be an expensive hobby. 😳😁
Great video mate, I love a good shmup but not a big fan of the bullet hell games. Tempest 2000 is great on the atari jaguar there is a port of Raiden on the Jaguar as well.
Some legendary games there!
Oh yes, but my collection is woefully incomplete 😭😭

amazing, l just found your channel and it is amazing, you have some pricey games there and difficult to find
Glad you found me and welcome. There are many more shmup related vids on the channel so please have a look.
Love videos like this that go through the history of a genre, with show and tell included. Your content is always top notch.

Beautiful collection! The first arcade machine that I played was Xevious, since then I love shmups.
Well Xevious was an important game in shmup history so you picked a good one to start. Once you get hooked then there's no going back. 👍

Just subbed off a recommendation from the Retro Ghetto
Glad to have you onboard and thanks to Retro Ghetto 👌👍
Great video! Learned a lot! Please share more of your knowledge on shmups! Bought some of the games you showed.

Thanks very much - bullet hell not for me either. Have the Jag Raiden port but don't like it much. 👎👎
