But they had amphetamines and used older drugs like strychnine, there has always doping in one form or another

they should have used LSD for doping. makes driving a bike so easy it is insane. not exhaust at all.

Well amphetamines were less powerful than aspirin and as far as we know strychnine was not available for afterwar cycling community when same riders could barely feed their family . Coffeine instead was largely used , but I wouldn't really call this doping, which started on being made since end of 60s and it became common at end of 80s .....
