    The slimiest snake within Agrabah is of course Jafar. This psychopathic, power craving trickster abused his relationship with the Sultan, stole rare treasures and amassed influence over the city. Jafar was designed to be a straight edged, devious villain reminiscent of one of Disney’s great villains, Maleficent. Jafar definitely lived up to her legacy and established one of his own which is why today we are going to dive into how he became the evil royal vizier and what happened to him after his first encounter with Aladdin.

    I just realized -- Jafar didn't know Prince Ali was actually Aladdin when he had him chained up and thrown off a cliff to drown. That means that for all Jafar knew, he was assassinating a foreign prince. And he never stopped to consider how that could start a war between Agrabah and Prince Ali's country? Damn.

      It is possible that Jafar claimed to the guards that Prince Ali raped Jasmine. In Islamic cultures back then, raped was such a major offense that even royalty could be legally put to death.

      The sultan was either an idiot or perhaps mentally challenged, he played with toys and didn't know how his kingdom ran and was distracted by any movement or "shinny object" ... he didn't even teach his daughter, Jasmine, the future Queen how the economy worked since she had no idea what payment was. A kindly, "special" man but woefully inept. Sigh, maybe Jafar should have been in charge?

    I think perhaps a mixture of the two. The way society treated him is part of what made Jafar the way he was, but so was the way he reacted to it. I actually didn't know about his implied origins before, but if he came from a similar background to Aladdin that would add an interesting dimension to the story and them being each other's foil; that they turned out so differently because Jafar focused on how he was wronged and putting himself in a position of power so he could tear down those who once had power over him, while Aladdin's experience being powerless lead him to be empathetic towards other in a similar position and made him a kinder person

      Jaafar is a very bad representation of Jaafar ibn Yehya who was the vizier of Harun Al Rashid of the Abbasid Caliphate.
      The Sultan Harun killed him because, the family of Jaafar wanted more power and eventually steal the crown. Jaafar was very close to Harun and both considered themselves as brothers as they grew up together but, Harun executed him and his whole family. Jaafar in Aladin is simply the reincarnation of Jaafar Ibn Yeyha who wants a revenge. Jaafar was very loyal to Harun and no he wasn't evil.
      Facts : Jaafar ibn Yeyha was a scientific in real life too. His family served the Abbassid Dynasty and did a lot for the Abbassid Caliphate. Also Jaafar in Alaadin is litteraly Jaafar ibn Yehya... (He isn't just a representation)

Imagine being the only responsible adult in a court compose of a soft probably insane Sultan and his irresponsible teenage daughter who not only didn't care about a very important law, but refuses to understand anything about her own land, and doesn't even understand the concept of money!.
    And Aladdin was a deceiving con artist, who didn't have any money or kingdom and a marriage like that will probably destroy the economy, not to mention the already week alliances with foreign realms, whose princes had been offended by Jazmin.

    You know, one thing about the movie Aladdin that I never understood (and have yet to find a solid, definitive explanation for) is why Jafar only ever hypnotized the sultan. If his backup plot for power was to marry into the throne, why not hypnotize and manipulate both the sultan and jasmine? I've looked around the internet, but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer to this.

    I have one major issue with Aladdin: why did everyone just let it slip by that the Palace Guards attempted to execute a prince on Jafar's orders. Like, it's one thing to take orders to arrest Aladdin the street rat for being a "menace", but what justification was there to take orders to quietly kill him when they thought he was Prince Ali? Pretty sure they weren't all under control by the Cobra staff. Like seriously, Razoul (I hope that's how you spell it) looked like the kind of guy who just wanted to kill for fun. Why was he still kept around as head of the guards and not kicked out. . .or, at the very least, demoted?

    • @thehackingburger3002
      @thehackingburger3002 Před 7 lety +10

      NikitaRoqueSox Corruption perhaps? The sultan never seemed to me to be the kind to really care about what's going on, and therefore left Jafar in charge of such "mediocre" tasks like choosing the palace guards. Maybe Razoul (I have no idea either) hid his true nature like Jafar himself.

    • @lesliepohls9319
      @lesliepohls9319 Před 7 lety +4

      Or maybe Jafar convince them that Aladdin was a deceiving con artist (he kinda was) and they believed they were doing it for the greater good. Like if the princess believes he just leaved she would probably move on and marry someone more suitable and the country would be in better hands.

      It could've been due to Loyalty to Jafar, over loyalty to the Sultan, Agrabah or law.
      That's how many usurpers came to power, loyal individuals that wanted a regime change and wanted that particular person in power. But if anything happened to that usurper, those under him could easily claim "following orders" and not be sentenced to death or any form of punishment at all.

    @MrAndrewsaccount92 Před 7 lety +2

    One thing I've noticed recently after rewatching Aladdin is just how Jafar's charisma blinds him from easier solutions. Since he is able to hypnotize the Sultan with his scepter, why didn't he make the Sultan step down and crown him as the new monarch of Agrabah? Professor Ratigan tried doing that with a robotic queen 6 years earlier, yet the directors didn't think of that idea? It is possible that Jafar tried that once and since people grew suspicious, he had to brainwash everyone to forget it happened to protect his position in the palace.

Well if you haven't could you I'd love to see something on why she is the way she is. Why is she so horrible to Cinderella? Did she actually love Cindys father? • @Theravingranter
    @Theravingranter Před 6 lety +3

    Just a slight mention here: there was a plan for Jafar to have a son but instead it is hinted it is just his disciple that he took under his wing similiar to Kovu and Scar. This character would grow to be a well loved pale dark sorcerer named Mozenrath. Mozenrath was also slated to be an evil brother of Aladdin in one of the films for he did not take to being poor as happily as his brother and maybe even felt like since his brother was so goody goody he got more affection. Though scrapped he still looks similair to our pal Al, albeit pasty and more gothic in tone. If you wanted to combine multipile theories and suggest that planned ideas are still canon then perhaps jafar and Aladdins mother had Mozenrath since jafar grew up poor and could have met her that way. Seeking power not love jafar left his family and Aladdins mother met and wed Aladdins father Cassim. This would have meant at some point jafar could have been Aladdins stepfather and things could have turned out much more different. This also adds to the original story where the vizier has either one or two sons he wants to marry the princess off to. Im not a fan of theories and debunk them but when i find one that interests me i take to it and you have provided some solid ones. This is one of my own and stems from a place of extensive knowledge on Aladdin. Ive also assumed that Ali baba was Aladdins Uncle thus their similar names but thats another thought for another time. Let me know what you think and im happy to further discuss and debate.

    • @ATRaine
      @ATRaine Před rokem

      Shot in the dark, but here's what I gather about Gaston: born into a rich family, with a father obsessed with hunting and an overly doting submissive mother. Bullied kids in school and got away with it. Got away with a lot of things in general, thanks to a powerful lineage who threw money at problems to make them disappear. Hazed freshmen in college, eventually decided he was too cool for school so he dropped out to become a hunter like his daddy, kept the frat boy attitude as a souvenir while viewing himself as God's gift to women. Going through life as a chauvinistic pig who never had to deal with consequences for his actions, Gaston had no incentive to ever be a better person. He also never had anyone say No to him... Except for Belle.
      This is a totally paraphrased summary, how did I do???😆
