- Cricut has a new cutting machine, the Cricut Joy Xtra. Is the Extra Joy worth It? It cuts vinyl, draws designs, and the Joy Xtra will even PRINT AND CUT making stickers easy. It’s still compact, but a little bigger than the original Joy. We made some stickers to help show you some of what you can make with Cricut Joy Xtra.

So what’s the difference between this and the explorer
For one, the Joy Xtra cuts 50 materials but the Explore cuts 100-ish. Granted, both of those numbers are inflated. It's really more like paper, cardstock, and vinyl, and they both can do all of those. And the Explore has more tools than the Joy Xtra.

Hello how do you make these die cut rather than kiss cut? The waterproof sticker set just kiss cuts my stickers rather than cutting them out individually

Hi! I’m between getting joy xtra or portrait 4… any suggestions?
I love the Joy Xtra and haven't used the Portrait 4 before. If the features of both are the same, the deciding factor may be the software. Silhouette Studio is more powerful yet complex. Cricut Design Space is easier to use, but doesn't do as much as Silhouette.

Does it work with iPad?
It does! We did our second set of stickers with Design Space on our iPad. Connected, printed, and cut perfectly!
I ordered this and it took forever to get to me cuz im on the East Coast and it shipped California just for it to not come with the cutting mat. Had to wait another week and i just got the mat today. I couldnt order the mat on Amazon cuz it said it would have come at the end of October even with prime subscription so😅 i hope this was worth it as im a noob and i literally got the cricut joy 6 months ago 😂😂😂

Yes. Use the print then feature. Print the image from Cricut Design Space to your printer then let the Joy Xtra cut it perfectly.

Selling it like the Xtra thing can print actually where it is NOT printing. Should be more clear here and in the advertisement.
Print and cut is a thing in many cutting machines and all of them require a separate printer. It would be awesome if someone would create a cutter and printer all in one.
This seriously is a lemon of an idea. The glaring issue is it’s price point in comparison with the explore. Every vendor sells vinyl in 12 “ widths. So, yet again cricut tries to limit the green newbies to their own consumables and subscriptions ie: consider now the subscription only sticker feature that’s coming out. Soon Facebook groups will be littered with people asking “Should I buy this or the explore? Or should I just buy the maker and be done with it?”. Everyone’s going to reply “just buy a bigger one so you have the wider width for generic vinyl. No offence but if your running a sticker business, your not wasting time and money on smart vinyl on a unit with less realestate for actual stickers.
But if you’re just a hobbyist or starting a business and testing the waters, it’s an affordable entry point.
@@realsnacky I’d love to agree, but it’s not. It’s currently selling for the equivalent of an explore here. Australia.. The joy extra is $420, the explore is $429.00 Same shop. The difference is a few consumables thrown in with the joy. When these are gone you have machine that offers less then the explore. How is this fair? The joy xtra is not being sold as a stand alone unit..
That’s just Ashish trying to be like Apple. Create an entire closed ecosystem and lock people in.
I totally hear what you're saying and thought the same thing. Cricut marketing is quite clever. Technically, the (not-included!) $12 mat will let you trim that standard 12" vinyl to any size that fits the XTRA mat, so that's no big deal. If you're running a REAL sticker business with any type of serious volume, you should have a professional machine like a Roland, or just sub manufacturing to China like everyone else.
Thank your for your honest reply. I’m confused though on what you mean about the mat allowing one to trim the excess? With people being inherently lazy, the trimming may become an issue both in time or wastage.. Here in Australia, the joy extra is $420 with the explore is $429.00. Yes the joy extra throws in a few consumables, but once they’re gone the person has less.
Everything Cricut is expensive.
A little bit. If you’re in it for a hobby and like to make stickers, labels, tshirts, ornaments…give the Cricut Joy Xtra some consideration.

Ours takes at least 5 days from Cricut, but NEXT day from Amazon. And sometimes Amazon is cheaper!
Same. It takes at least seven days to get shipments from Cricut here in Florida, Amazon has stuff here in a day or two. Guess it depends how close you live to the Mormons.
Ordered stuff last Friday and have my fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow.
