don't forget to check if they are in bankruptcy.I found a city lot worth $44,000.Only $3600.00 behind in taxes. called tax collector to check for liens,etc- found out the total amount with liens was almost $40,000.00 owed. They were also in bankruptcy! Yet the owner was trying to sell me the lot, "privately" through her and my lawyer with a simple contract. Since she didn't actually own it anymore, she had no authority to be selling it.Imagine if I bought it and because of her bankruptcy, could not take over my property for years. Although doing tedious online research was great and saved me money, I would definitely call both the tax collector and tax accessors offices for updated info and info that wasnt online.

Huge thanks for this video, I thought that people would have to pay a real estate lawyer or something to find out taxes owed on a property but if its possible to find it out by myself for free thats even better :-)

I can’t figure out how to view the tax records on a piece of property I’m interested in. I’ve got the property info pulled up but all I’m seeing tax wise is the yearly rate based on class

Most county actually list all the properties delinquent on taxes. Contact the owners and make offers. Looking for property online misses A LOT. lots of properties with ancient for sale signs too, you need to drive around.
Very useful info! Ive been poking around alot of "buy vacant land websites" and have found many plots of land NOT being sold by the titled owner but a broker of some sorts, No easements to gain access to the property and back taxes.

I talked to the county and they said a lien was on the property from North Carolina dept of rev. but when I go to the website I can't find it. now what?

So I looked it up found all the info and where it says owner it has a 0 listed. I know it's not for sale it's listed as a rental

Does county record show all kinds of liens include irs tax lien and state tax lien or just state tax lien?
Hi J! County record will show property bax taxes owed and any liens that were filed with the county.

Would this also show past mortgages? And if there are outstanding debt?
David, the county database wouldn't necessarily show past mortgages, no. But it would let you know if there are outstanding debts (or liens). Your best bet is to call the county's treasurer office directly because sometimes their online database is a month or two behind reality. Hope that helps!

What if I don’t have a parcel number
Hi! You can find the APN by calling the county directly if you know the address of the property or are the current property owner. You can also try locating the property in the county’s online mapping system (if they have one). Hope that helps!

Hi Alaya! To be honest with you, we don't currently operate in California. Our primary areas of focus are Florida, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and bits in Nevada.
So I'm not sure if we'll be able to help you out. You can try checking sites like ruralvacantland.com or landmodo.com for your search. Hope it helps! 🙂
If you don't know the APN or parcel number and there is no address, how do you find it ?
A situation where none of these are available is unlikely, however services like LandID can be used to locate the parcel geographically.
