Dear @PenguitoTheMonkey , Though the nation is gone, you see a lot of reminiscing of Rhodesia. And lots of that is comprised of people after the fact, and actual Rhodesians now living in Britain and elsewhere abroad. Now Rhodesia wasn't as bad or cruel as South Africa (it doesn't mean it didn't have its problems), generally Anglo-settlers in South Africa and in Rhodesia where they were the majority cared more for the Natives than Dutch-settlers now known as Boers. But what replaced Rhodesia (Zimbabwe if you don't know) is not a stable, competent, or kind state. Zimbabwe began autarky, but also targeted the Anglo-settlers who made livelihood there for generations by that point, leading to land being taken without payment, and violence against them, this, other social policies, and the dictatorship scuppered any chance at Zimbabwe being good and now its frankly terrible in all regards. Meanwhile another former British Colony, with near enough the same position as Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) was Botswana which is one of the most free, and prosperous countries in Africa. Botswana shares more with Rhodesia than it ever did Zimbabwe.
Who else has a hard time watching videos about Rhodesia? It's so goddamn depressing what Britain did to such a noble group. Next time someone wants to make you feel about Rhodesia for oppressing the black citizens remind them that both black and white citizens had the exact same educational and economic restrictions on voting. So of course they weren't giving universal suffrage to the blacks. Not every white could vote. When Rhodesia was finally broken down the parliament had 2 houses.. one with 50 white men. The other 16 black with the goal of eventually both houses having 50 of each white citizens and black. Of course there's more black population in the country but Smith and Rhodesia were damn well trying. The world never gave them a chance

The Regimental Song of the Rhodesian African Rifles. Apparently RAR Soldiers were used to escort Italian and German Nationals to Durban for internment during WW2. They were introduced to the Banana in Natal and took some Bananas back to Rhodesia and shared them with their colleagues fhey were a hit. So whenever RAR escorted prisoners to Natal they promised to return with bananas...
Please remove the fake photo of people pretending to be members of the Rhodesian Security Forces. The image for the song "It's a long way to Mukumbura" is a reenactor from Europe and has flooded the internet claiming they are Rhodesians. I'm sick of this group of reenactors pretending to have served in the security forces. If they want to be soldiers they can go serve in Ukraine and walk the talk. All they are is sealing valour from those that served and nothing more, so let's not give them praise they don't deserve.
