For someone to be a commodity, there needs to be someone else to treat them as such, but he was his own boss on his movies. He did the stunts he did because of low budget and realism, whereas in Hollywood, they fake the stunts because of legal and financial reasons, like production time lost due to potential injuries, insurance, possibility of being sued by the actors, etc. The "West" doesn't value life more, it just costs more to not take precautions, that's all.

Jackie in the past really does some of the most daring moves ever done in Hong Kong action movies. The clock tower drop scene was one of them that got me shocked when he landed head first and got out alive and they actually showed the two takes in that movie here. Really shows his young daring days.

I met Jackie Chan once when I was 8 at a book signing in westwood, ca for his bio I am jackie chan. He was super nice!! My parents actually waited for him coming out of the back from the bookstore with a small crowd of people as well. His bitchy manager wouldn't allow him to sign any more posters or take any pictures even though it looked like he really wanted too. He then got in his limo and I waved at the limo not expecting him to see me or get a wave back. But then he rolled down the window and looked straight at me, smiled and waved good bye. That ment the world to me!

All you have to is offer him free labor and you'll get him to sign something. I translated all the special features for the Myth on DVD for free and got the deluxe 3 disc set signed by Jackie for free.

The one from "Rumble in the Bronx" stunt was probably the most dangerous. Leaping from a rooftop about 5 floors high towards a fire escape across the alley without harness.
