      Thanks a lot!
      One question - context: I want to offer this camera to my nephiew who's a young total noob with photography (apertures, focal length etc are like an extra-terrestrial language for him... yet), but he would like to get into it more seriously - he's currently using his mobile phone, but drains it too often for his needs since he takes pictures like a rabbit, almost every time he sees something visually interesting).
      The question: does the T8i also has some "menu for noobs" mode explaining the controls etc., like the SL3?

    • @HawkFest
      @HawkFest Před 2 lety

      Can the camera be controlled via Wifi along some mobile/PC app (afor adjustments and, most importantly, taking shots)?

  • @joeygwood

    I'd go with a T8i over an M50 MKII. Better ergonomics and physical controls, better battery life, side SD card slot, and it natively accepts EF and EF-S lenses. There aren't many EF-M lenses to begin with, and while the adapter does give you more options, the M50 doesn't pair well with bigger lenses because of the awkward balance. If all you're using the camera for is live streaming and shooting talking head videos, then I'd get the M50 MKII and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and call it a day. If you're actually getting into photography and/or videography then go with the T8i.

      @@Aj-me8mo If you're just shooting talking head videos and you don't already have some nice EF/EF-S lenses, then you should go with the Canon M50 MKII and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4. If you actually plan on holding the camera while you use it, go with the Canon T8i and 17-55mm f/2.8.

    When talking about the 1.7x crop in the 4K, you forgot to mention that it already has a 1.6x crop since it’s an aps-c camera. That makes for even more intense cropping.

I have compared canon T8i with other versions such as EOS4000D, EOS2000d, EOS800D and I found this one is much better. What are you opinions on this? I'm a complete beginner so I won't be editing photos or videos anytime soon. I was considering this camera or possibly the 90D (but it's double the price) I don't think I need something as robust as the 90D since I am a beginner and I'm not sure I'll utilize everything.
    I just need something that takes really great pictures for when I'm traveling (I want to get more into photography) and also possibly for some short videos.

They're solid alright, but there is one very annoying issue with cameras in NZ which is finding camera couplers that will fit the Canon M50s. I went from Nikon d5200 to T8i and I like the switch because I do both photography and video but what prime lens do you think are the best and what lens to match the 4K crop sensor to help with our loss... I would’ve paid the $300 difference for 90D but I never shot with one so I wasn’t sure if I was ready but after a review it was too late to get my refund but I plan to buy a 90D or the next generation when I get the chance

    I have a Tameron B016 16mm to 300mm and it works. But I have one issue with the T8i and that is the fact that it picks up the internal autofocus/tracking. Is there a way to remedy that?

    This may very well be a next step upgrade from the SL1, but its sooo hard to justify the price, when you know, with just 400 more dollars, i can snag the 5DSr.
    I hate the way the money system works. lol

I was leaning towards the t8 because of the 4K but if it’s not as good as you say I’m debating saving the money and getting the older one

    • @TechThroughTheLens
      @TechThroughTheLens  Před 10 dny

      So couple of things to note.
      Because you are shooting on such a telephoto / zoom lens your camera will pick up shake a lot more.
      And every little jitter in your hand wil be noticed.
      And If the lens is heavy that makes it even harder.
      So you need to ideally shoot at 3 times your focal length, this is just my own rule.
      So if you are shooting 70mm try using a shutter speed of 1/200 or so and if you are shooting 200 try /1500.
      But That shutter speed should fix it. And also if you find the lens wide open is too soft try closing down to f4.
      Lastly a tripod will help. I really like the ulanzi travel tripod.
      Hope it helps. If you need more help. Post a new comment instead of replying so i see it.
