I disagree. Knock off the favorites early when you are healthier and have more energy.

How about should the pelicans lose to the lakers? ESPN is so self absorbed with lakers, warriors, nyc that they think the league revolves around them.
It’s because they’re superstars duh you got LeBron James Steph Curry They’re always going to talk about them. The Knicks with Jalen Brunson
ESPN doesn't favor Laker's success. If anything, they indulge the Lakers in the likelihood of failure so they can make a mockery of their efforts
@@mwood1012exactly this is all insulting the lakers lol
@stevens26 Last year when the Lakers lost ESPN talked about them all the way through the Finals.
Yup. It’s all about appealing to the fan base, but the teams that might actually be better
Greeny is a clown. If the Lakers lose tonight on purpose, that would destroy any credibility and morals of the game. This is stuff a legacy franchises should never do.
greeny is a 🤡 anyone who’s actually played sports isn’t gonna lose on purpose we play to win
He’s delusional. You take the series against anyone over a win or go home scenario.
Greeny is a clown but professional athletes cheat the game on both sides it’s not unheard of….
Unless your lebron who wants to control narratives and have an easirr way to the wcf
The players play to win. Management tells the coach to relax on coaching so the team is at a disadvantage and loses. Problem solved.
I wouldn't be surprised if a LeBron team ran from a challenge. Running is in LeBron's dna
The losing mentality is crazy
0 and 8, Nd think win 4 outta 7 is stupid
@@xavierb9061 every year is different, give yourself a chance go down with pride instead of ducking
@@Keithcookxfacts 💯 these causal nowadays got a Losers Mentality
@@Keithcookx ok ur being stupid,, with pride instead of shot at ring
@@Keithcookx Exactly…out of all the teams in the West rn Denver would be the most respectable team to go out against or beat in the first round so go for it.
The okc disrespect is getting out of hand
Yeah they would win 1 game before getting knocked out first round
we have seen this too many times like Demar's Toronto. First round exit when they faced 8th seeded Lebron's Cavs.
1st or second round and in a couple years they will be like the Memphis Grizzlies....rebuild mode.
Greeny don’t understand that means risking goin home in the next game 😂. They could lose that game as well.
Beat nuggets in 6..lost last 8 vs them or do or die vs team that just lost. Simple math
@@xavierb9061 They could very well lose to the Warriors or Kings in a one game scenario. If they did all people would say is they shoulda beat the Pelicans after 😂. They could lose to the Nuggets but that wouldn’t be as bad at least trying to take out the champs round one. Hey maybe the Lakers try to win tonight and the Pelicans do as well and the Lakers some how lose anyways. Who knows what will happen.
@@datsapaddlin you proved my point. No one would say after losing an eliminated, they could have beat nuggets. Lol
@@xavierb9061 Well yeah everyone knows Denver is the favorite but that doesn’t mean duck them for a win or go home scenario.
@@datsapaddlin yeah beatin them 4 before they get 3...more unlikely than 1 win. Plus 1st round exit to nuggets again, gotta blow up team
Deeply unserious.
You don’t tank a game in order to avoid 4 games against a team your scared of, just to give yourself one sure fire elimination game where by the plotting of your Machiavellian scheming you may or may not be able to advance to a playoff. Ridiculous.
Earlier on air Greeny said “the goal is to win a championship, not to make the playoffs.” I agree. So Let’s dive into some advanced analytics to gather some immutable data. In the history of ALL playoff sports there has been exactly ZERO teams who have won a championship who didn’t first MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.
These media clowns act like the Lakers are championship contenders one day and telling them to lose on purpose to avoid a better team the next.
😂😂😂 promoting losing
Tbf being a coward is on brand for Greeny. Sad part is he can’t see how weak this makes him as a host for the remainder of his days at ESPN.
maybe the Pelicans want to lose! ever thought about that?
It's gonna be interesting 😂
Game score 2-0😂
😂
It’s going to be the Great Lose-Off.
Who can try harder to lose than the other.
Pathetic.
You were right. Zion faked an injury and Ingram was bench down the stretch. They definitely lost to avoid the Nuggets
The biggest sports news station in the world advocating for a team to lose on purpose is ridiculous
Greenburg makes at least 10x the salary of the average American. He should be forced to take out of his pocket 10x the cost of Tix Parking & concessions for that game and set fire to it.
Anyone else never really hit the dislike button ever, yet found themselves hitting it here?
I'm sure that if there's any hint of throwing this game the Steel-Spined Commish will kick them out of the Postseason !
This mentality is ridiculous and I despise that it’s such a popular topic. You can’t go into elimination games planning to lose. It’s one thing to lose in the regular season when you’ve got a comfortable lead in the standings, but every team in the play in is dangerous, so why would you even take that risk??
This is ridiculous, Kings swept the Lakers this year and against the Wars it's a coin flip. You prefer 7 game series chance while Lakers are healthy and playing well in the first round with more rest days
Yep. Kings swept them and Warriors won the season series 3-1 against them. Greeny just wants those clicks.
Yeah people are forgetting they will not be playing every day with more rest and better health. They may still lose but I could see a more competitive series than last year.
They’re not healthy tho . I think that’s his point it’s not a bad idea but nobody goes out to lose
Let's not forget, the Lakers also lost to the Warriors 3 times out of 4 this season. The one game the Lakers won was 2OT and Warriors blew a big 4 quarter lead in that game.
They act like the Lakers will beat NOP. Trying to tell them to lose on purpose. Lakers need to lose 2 games and miss the playoffs altogether. We don't need to hear about the Lakers anymore.
This didn’t age well
I’m totally against my team losing a game on purpose for any reason
A perfect example of not tanking is the Bengals, not tanking for Harrison Junior, after Joe went down
So you shouldn’t do it as the lakers but when the cavaliers do it its a horrible crime?
Lose tonight is crazy lakers won’t they get back in we gone tell if they throwing towel
Greeny is absolutely delusional, media wants the Lakers to avoid Denver so badly.
I think the Lakers should be hunting down the Nuggets to avenge the sweep of last season
I want this, too. It’ll be hilarious to see the Lakers get swept again.
Imagine both teams are trying to lose and throwing the ball out of bounds for every possession.
The Lakers should wanna play Denver!!!
I agree. they should sooner, but they’ll still get swept regardless
@@DaveBtm998they won’t get swept. Silver can’t have LA lose like that again. He helped them to the WCF last year and LeBagless couldn’t close it out in close games.
They obviously do. The media doesn't.
@@114D This is the silliest thing I've ever heard. I've been a Lakers fan since 1971 and saw 12 of the 17 championships won. And even back then non Lakers fans had lame excuses for why we won. The Lakers had a 12 year drought and a 10 year drought. Where were the refs then? Helping your team win?
This is idiotic and this dude does not need to be talking about basketball 😂
Last time I remember a team trying to lose was in '19. That's 1919. Ridiculous comments from people who probably never paid full NBA prices for tix, parking etc. in their lives. The NBA should demand they be suspended for suggesting it.
The dumbest part of this segment was not Greeny's lunacy, but Hembo asking if Greeny is sure that Denver is the best team in the west.
He was right about the false binary part. The reality is it would go more like this:
A) immediate series against the nuggets
B) elimination game against the Warriors/Kings followed by later series against Nuggets
In this case, which is closer to reality, A is actually the safer choice. Don’t tank, Lakers
I hate this so much. So coach is gonna go in tonight and tell his team we're throwing AND they're all gonna be like ok.
This is why comparing LeBron to MJ is blasphemous. imagine the “goat” purposely losing a play-in game in fear of being knocked out in the first round
That part! 💯
Except, THE MEDIA MADE THIS ALL UP. LeBron isn't planning or didn't stay, let's sit out this game in order to avoid Denver. You people are believing foolish lies by the media.
Michael and Kobe would NEVER consider tanking a playoff game or series. They wanted all the smoke.
@@Criminal.Lawyer.2024so does lebron right now apparently 😂😂😂(or maybe there tanking plan failed due to Zion)
@@Criminal.Lawyer.2024 And Mike definitely got all the smoke too. Swept by Larry Joe Bird twice, eliminated from the playoffs by Isaiah 3 times and eliminated by Sidney Moncrief and Milwaukee 3-2. That's 6-0 in reverse, 0-6. He needed Scottie bad.
Greeny shut up. Competitors don't think about losing.
Its not the competitors mindset especially elite athletes.
Just a built in excuse. Just incase they lose
Even if the Lakers don't make the playoffs, ESPN will be talking about them all throughout the playoffs. The did this last season.
The fact that this is even a topic is insane. Forget the fact that you’ll probably go against the warriors who they just lost to when they shot 63% from 3. It doesn’t matter that “it won’t happen again” it only has to happen once
U win and get in
They’re the defending champs so beat em
One thing is certain: My poor pels cannot win. Either we lose or they let us win. No credit to us
Actually the Nuggets have a better record this year.
Think about this. The Pelicans could intentionally try to lose to the Lakers to avoid playing Denver in the first round as well. Two team playing against each other and both teams trying to lose. What a game that would be. 😃😀
If Jamal Murray goes out with a significant injury in Round 1 or 2, then Denver becomes vulnerable. Very vulnerable.
Hembo really got da laptop propped up on a book 💻😂😂😂.
This man doubled down LMAOOOO but greeny is actually right
Greeny, it's controversial because it's basically saying bet on this game because you know whose strategically losing.
I usually like Greeny’s takes. Crazy how he’s telling a Lebron James led team to lose on purpose in order to avoid the defending champs and hope someone else beats them so his lakers can luck into a championship.
You're asking the wrong question, the real question is: do the Lakers have a better chance to beat Denver in the 1st round with the extra rest....or later in the playoffs when there's only 1 day between games and after playing at least 2 playoff series
It's possible Nuggets get knocked in later rounds so they don't face the Lakers.
@RichardKao-ys4gc Yep cause the Suns will beat the Nuggets in round 2. You heard it here first 🤧
I'm curious to know how many times a teams tank to get a advantage and the advantage backfires
As a laker fan..
We need to see Denver first..healthiest AD OR BROn will be.. by the time we play them in west conference finals. Lakers will have gone 6-7 games with every team. While Denver sweep everyone. If we see them first we have a solid chance.
This dude makes no sense, if it was that easy to control whether you win or lose a game you wouldn’t be in a darn play in game. You’re in the play in because you couldn’t win when it counted.
Intentionally loosing is same as match fixing
The goal of winning the chip and making it deep in the playoffs are not always the same
What you're not accounting for is the rest between games in the 1st round and how that's probably the best chance for the Lakers, making sure they're rested for games.
Why would the Lakers lose to the pelicans to lose by 20 against Sacramento
Let's not forget, the Lakers also lost to the Warriors 3 times out of 4 this season. The one game the Lakers won was 2OT and Warriors blew a big 4 quarter lead in that game.
@Criminal.Lawyer.2024 right ain't no body tryna play two game 7s.. 1 win at a time.
Yeah because the Warriors definitely got spanked by them last night.
This isn’t fantasy basketball. You lost the opportunity to choose your opponent when you made the play in. Now you play the cards you’re dealt and go get it done
I disagree, bro is saying to play the Warriors or Sacramento in a one game elimination over playing Denver in 4. Greeny's option doesn't fall under the category of "survive and advance."
Only Greeny could come up with an argument so stupid. Who'd choose a single elimination game against two teams that beat you 7 of 8 times over a best of 7 series? It's simple math Greeny.
If LAL lose, all it takes is a hot shooting night from GS or SAC, and they're OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS‼️
This video is meaningless. Both Pels and Lakers won't go far this postseason. Vs the Nuggets or not.
Never thought I seen hembo talk wild ... I like greeny but hembo making this for me
Losing to the Pelicans doesn’t guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. They’d still have a very tough matchup against the Warriors or Kings. The Lakers are 1-7 this season against those teams. Greeny has gone the way of most ESPN hosts and only cares about clicks now.
Was there ever a talk about MJ trying to avoid certain opponents in the postseason? The Lakers might have a better shot at beating OKC (that's not a given though, they're #1 for a reason). But if the Lakers lose tonight it will forever be permitted as evidence in the MJ v Bron GOAT debate.
THIS IS A MEDIA LIE. LeBron never mentioned or is planning on his. This has nothing to do with MJ
Clippers are the most recent example not to go down that strategic road because what happened they got bounced trying to avoid the Lakers 😂 this is the most ridiculous take Greeny!!
Greeny's logic doubles over. You win because that maximizes your chances to make the playoffs. If the Lakers can't handle Denver in round one, it is unlikely they can handle them in round two or three. AD will have his injury during those rounds.
He should be fired for saying this dumb $hit!
Saying a team should lose on purpose during the play-in is crazy.... they're one game series... you really want to bet on beating the Warriors? What happened last time Lakers played the Warriors? Warriors are 3-1 against the Lakers... this is a stupid take
Greeny is the perfect LeMedia member.
Ducking smoke will foster a losing mentality in the locker room. You can't go into the playoffs with that mindset.
I disagree with Greeny on this one. The Lakers would lose to the Warriors or Kings if they tank tonight, so win baby, win.
No Shade but this is why he is a commentator 😂. Say outrageous stuff to get a headline.
Any team that loses on purpose deserves to have their season ended.
True Champions want to crush all opponents to have no doubt who is the best.
No SANE person would pick losing any GAME.
We play to win no matter what. That’s been lost on everything that is basketball today
This dude is MAJOR 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Lakers do not dodge anyone, if they can't beat the nuggets might as well face them early.
Win. Period.
This is such a bad take. The goal for the Lakers is not to survive as long as possible in the playoffs. It's to win the Championship. They're best chance of making it to the Conference Finals might be to avoid Denver in the 1st round, but who cares about making the Conference Finals. If you lose tonight, win tomorrow and wind up the 8 seed, you then have to beat OKC, beat the winner of the 4/5, and then likely face Denver in the CF. The likelihood of the Lakers getting that far is still much lower than Denver getting that far, so you should assume Denver is their opponent in the CF. However unlikely the chances are of LAL beating Denver is, it's more likely that they are able to do it in the 1st round, when they are freshest and where there are extra days between games, then it is in the CF when they've already had to battle through the first two rounds and now the games are every other night. If Denver was the 1 seed, LA should be trying to lose to play the Nuggets in the first round. There's no point in waiting to lose to Denver.
What is the Lakers ceiling if they have to avoid the Nuggets?
Play them at full strength with fresh legs if you have to face them
Purple & Gold Ref's already warm it up for tonight..!
True, but they could have a one and done with warriors or kings no?
The Kings swept them this year and the Warrior beat them 3 out of 4. The one game they beat the GSW was 2OT and the Warriors blew a big 4quarter lead.
They talk a lot about the chance of losing to Denver versus the chance to lose the next game. But where is the talk about the damage. Lakers lose to Denver, eh, nobody cares. Lakers tank this game (we always notice) and then lose the next, that would be a huge shitstorm. Lebron and/or AD may even walk away from then to save face.
I like Greeny so I hate to see him be so wrong smh
How about this greeny... How about dreymond accidentally elbow AD in the eye in the first quarter??😂
Let’s beat Pelicans first and then start talking about Nuggets but... Regular season matchup means almost nothing. The last important matchup Lakers vs Nuggets was game 4 last WCF. That was a series when Murray has the best series of his life. Jokic made every impossible shot. LeBron has injured ankle. D’Lo was wearing Denver jersey. Lakers after 2 successful series underestimated Nuggets. They lost game 1 and still were confident about winning the series. Then game 3 we lost close game at home and then when you are 0-3 in the series you smell death in game 4 so it was a wrap. Now it’s different. I think if we beat Pelicans tonight we have a good chance to knock out Nuggets. With no additional injuries and little bit of luck we can advance. If not then you just congratulate a better team.
Let’s go Lakers 💜💛
Get the nuggets early before they get a series under their belt. I’d rather play them first than in the conference finals. Will they win? Prob not but, odds are higher imo
Bron is gonna fake a cramp and be out of the game in the 1st quarter tonight. Greeny is right about his "avoid Denver at all costs" master plan.
Fact..........
“Even though we have free speech, it can be a lot of negative that comes with that.” Shoutout LeBron James
If I was the lakers and had to pick my poison, I would rather play the nuggets and not lose on purpose to play the thunder and they could go home before that if they lose to the warriors
For a guy who's supposed to be the goat this makes no sense! Or is this the NBA letting us know what their plans are??? If you're the greatest what's the point of ducking?
I think the Lakers want Denver. Well beaten last year and they get a chance to run it back
He makes sense buddy tripping
Advocating loser mentality is terrible
This is what we call reverse glazing
Isnt deliberate losing considered rigging the game and not fulfilling the integrity of the game? Thats borderline cheating
Lakers getting sweep again is good for entertainment 😂🤣
I think lakers should win this game ans face the nuggets on round 1 while AD and LBJ both have enough energy and rest rather facing them on round 2 or WCF
Okay so the Lakers lose tonight and then the Warriors turn into 2017 Warriors for one game and make 30 threes. Dont take that chance. Win tonight
Losing on purpose is disrespectful to the basketball gods. Only losers that never played sports say “lose on purpose” soft mentality the complete opposite of mamba mentality
Greeny I dead love your content but stay outta laker business
“No outcome is desirable” THEN WHY EVEN PLAY 🤡 The Lakers should just forfeit and go on vacation early! 😂😂😂😂
Lmao what if someone gets injured, what if you draw Denver and god forbid someone on Denver gets injured?
This people don’t understand losing will risk getting eliminated. Lakers haven’t beat the kings in a while and Curry can to nuclear. Win no and go fight. You asking them to be cowards basically.
Man, we want that smoke. We are not ducking anybody. We’re here for a reason.
You’re also the 8th seed for a reason. No one’s afraid of the Lakers.
I agree with him
