If you want a great Japanese culture experience in LA without as many tourists, head to Torrance. The only place outside Japan with the most sushi and izakaya joints.
Use to go there for Japanese food since it was close to UCLA 30 years ago. Now more built up. The Tsujita is the best in LA for their dip ramen. but there is a long wait.
Hi Chris. Nice place to get some Japanese food as well other Asian foods. Really love Beard Papa and the Nijiya Market. Thanks for sharing. and have a wonderful weekend.
Great video. A lot of information! But why not a 360 video? I'm not saying this will be great everywhere, but please think about one or two at some beautiful place. It makes we fell like we are there too.
Hi Chris, how busy is the Marugame Udon over there compares to the one in Waikiki? Are they as good? Here in San Francisco is not as good as the one in Waikiki, not even close!
@@parlayin my buddy told me he saw me in this video. So I was curious to see what was I doing lol. But it was just me doing my routine of getting my job done lol
Your enthusiasm for the Japanese culture and food is at once contagious and weight-inducing. 😅 I suspect you might have been a samurai or possibly a Japanese restaurant owner in a past life. 😀 I started developing an appreciation for the Japanese psyche, spirituality and (curiously enough) cuisine, after reading “The Book of Five Rings” by Miyamoto Musashi. On its surface the book is a text on kenjutsu and the martial arts, but deep down it offers a unique insight into the Japanese mindset and the art of living. I especially enjoyed the last chapter “The Book of the Void” which explores Musashi’s take on Zen-influenced thoughts on consciousness and the so-called correct mindset. If you haven’t read it, check it out; it’s a quick read. Every time I’m in a Japan Town somewhere I’m immediately reminded of the nuggets of wisdom from The Book of Five Rings. Thanks for the tour, Chris. 👍🏻👏🏻

The section of Sawtelle that you were on is in the City of Los Angeles, not the City of Santa Monica.

@@REGENETARIANISM Between San Vicente and Olympic.

That is West Los Angeles …where I grew up….thank you for taking me on your tour….
On your left it was called Cosy Courts….what a change !!!!
Absolutely love your content! I play your videos at work via Bluetooth and listen while I’m in my car driving. Thanks Chris …
Sweet Chris!
Sawtell is NOT in Santa Monica. It's in West Los Angeles. As usual, journalists make things up for the story.
BRO, the headphone/mic combo 👍

We just get to Tsujita right at 11am opening time!
I love noodles. Noodles always good to me. They make me very happy.
Can't go wrong with noodles!
Millet Crepe is cool Vietnamese style dessert crepes place. Try their creme brûlée crepe with ice cream, custard, green tea, or cinnamon apple!
Really cool area! So jealous of all the great Japanese food shops & markets. Thanks Chris

Interesting.
Certainly something worth remembering, even though I know the chances I'll ever be in that area are slim.
was that a huge james jean billboard? nice
Hi Chris, how busy is the Marugame Udon over there compares to the one in Waikiki? Are they as good? Here in San Francisco is not as good as the one in Waikiki, not even close!
I think the one in Sawtelle is good.. and way less busy than waikiki

Your title is incorrect and misleading. West Los Angeles.
This was very helpful. Thank you, I’m going to Santa Monica next week. I took notes!
Nice Rachael! I hope you enjoy some tasty Japanese food!
Where are the best restroom options in the area?
In the restaurants
Still have parking meters !
Can you please find a bigger mic and headphone to stand out . Thanks
I'll do that for you JL :)

How is parrking around that area?
Can be rough, unless you get early…but if you just wanna walk around, there’s a Best Buy nearby you can park at and they never notice, or tow.
