    Unlike Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, you can fast travel even inside buildings, directly from the interior of your ship, basically anywhere, as long as the "no enemies nearby" rule is met. This saves so much time when you've run by the whole area.

    • @GPS08
      @GPS08 Před 4 lety +5

      @DraakoThe(Game-Breaking)Dragon That's also not true. You can fast travel directly from the interior of the Unreliable and there is a load barrier. I've fast travelled from other areas too.

      The thing I also like is that you can fast travel even though you exceeded your weight limit. I always hated that you couldn't fast travel due to that in Skyrim.

    Definitely a refreshing single-player experience in a sea of micro-transactions and corporate greed. What’s ironic is that the Outer Worlds is a satirical piece which pokes fun at this aforementioned corporate America. • @Jamick98Geass
    @Jamick98Geass Před 2 lety +24

    Just a note on stealing:
    If you walk into a room that has a sliding door, close it behind you before you start stealing. Even if 20 corporate guards are on the other side they won’t see you. If the door is open, they can sometimes see you from 5-6 screens away.
    Also make sure your crouching when you steal, because it makes your character much harder for enemies to detect.
    General rule of thumb, if the enemies don’t have a line of site on you, you can steal stuff without issue.

I also found its worth keeping a couple pieces that boost certain skills like hack/lockpicking/dialogue. This way you can put on the certain items if your a few skill points off a check

It's a giant leap in price between positive and neutral. 2. Get the snake oil perk for the same reason, cause tinkering is insanly expensive. 3. Check your companions preffered weapons, and give them uniforms that buff they're core stats. 4. Get the perk that gives you 100 % of the companions perk. It's probably the most important perk if you don't go solo. 5. Get block to 20 fast. You'll unlock the leap, which is nice fetching loot

    As for the perks, I still contend that the best Tier 1 perk is the one that lets you fast-travel even when encumbered. In most games if you get encumbered you can drop item(s) and maybe come back for it later. Whereas in this game, your options are 1.) Find a vendor, 2.) Find a container, or 3.) Destroy the item. This is also a good reason to unlock the ability to sell items to vending kiosks, as there are more of them than there are human vendors.

Max should be allowed to run around in his religious skirt, but still deserves armor. "Don't spend your skill points until you need them."
    I always found these sorts of players kind of weird and somewhat unimaginative. Choosing skills based on your immediate needs is good for players who are being more pragmatic and focused more on achieving, but I like to do builds, especially as they work for roleplay. My characters' weaknesses and flaws define them just as much as their strengths. Oh, I can't talk that guy into not fighting me? Well that's cause the character I'm playing is used to letting his weapons do the talking so he has the charm of an old boot. I can't take a punch to the face and shrug it off? Well that's cause my character is a geeky nerd who prefers to use the power of SCIENCE! Playing the game just to win, in my experience, makes it kind of tiring - it's when you apply fun ideas that it really shines.
    In a similar vain, not all my characters have skills in science or engineering, because they're not the brainy sorts who can wrap their heads around that stuff. Sure, this often results in buying new weapons to replace old ones, but again it's part of the experience.

    What I like about this game most is that while like in any RPG, stats do matter to a certain extent - it isn't super important to have an absolutely "optimal," build unless you are playing on Supernova.
    It does what an RPG should do first and foremost - be an RPG, and tells stories. You can play around with your stats and skills a lot, and not get too bogged down in the fine details.
    Which I feel a lot of modern day RPGs just focus too much on the grind, and raw stats, and math. They forget about literally the most important part of an RPG. To ROLE PLAY.
    Which this game does brilliantly. While also maintaining a degree of complexity in character building without getting too mind boggling, and not punishing you harshly for not having a perfect perk/skill distribution.

      eh not all of them - the 'smarts' stuff, sure, most other stuff, eh, depends: you don't need the intimidate ish skills that high, stealth skills that high, that fast, and you don't need the personality stuff high either. mind stuff's pretty good, it's definitely a close second
      however focusing early points on tech is fantastic: better healing and more slots is great from medical, engineering is better repair and modding gear, and science is like the gold tier skill in the game: plasma and shock damage, tinkering equipment to give some nice modded weapon you like a little bit more longevity till the next tier weapon equivalent is found, tinkering cost down, and even a bonus of 25% damage for the other two 'elemental' types: with the added perk of the science weapons which are a category of their own, are buffed: even if you're a pistol user with high science you've got access to decent other options thanks to science weapons.
      more so than just 'non combat stuff', worry about break points on stuff you give a shit about: terrify having a bigger AOE isn't a big deal: tinkering cost halved, extra drug slots is nice, 1 lockpic locks are free is pretty big (25% more bits in containers give or take - lot of the income i feel is selling stuff you've looted), sell anything to vending machines and restricted inventory's nice (see above: lots of interiors have vending machines not so much salesman), and i'd say get either melee or guns to 20 for their effects if they're not at 20 thanks to skills and that's a fairly good start

There’s a +5 Lockpick helmet you can get right in the beginning, and a mining outfit that increased stealth skills that dropped for me in the first encounter. If you’re not going to invest in those skills, they can bring the cost of the pick down by one or more mag-picks, which will add up. Some vendors will pay more than the item’s worth because you have a better standing/reputation with their certain faction.

    Oooo my next playthrough the helmets off will be really sweet! My other tip is pristine weapons last longer but get better paid for too. Gd to keep the good stuff rather than sell. Less repairs is handy. (looking at you sweet vermin, Hits hard but damages easily)

    The thing I just realized is unique gun aren’t stronger then there base versions as a matter of fact the base guns seem to be much stronger seeing how you can’t mode unique weapons.

    04:30 I had no idea what those other slots were for, I thought there was some way to select them in combat that I didn't know about

      The other thing they don’t tell you is that the game will automatically replace any exhausted items with items that do the same thing. Kind of frustrating, honestly.

    it doesn't really matter how high the level of your weapon is. the cost doesn't really increase. it only matters HOW OFTEN you upgrade it. the more you upgrade it the more expensive it gets. so upgrading a higher level weapon instead of your old but lover level weapon is a LOT cheaper.
    lil' weapon tip: i played the game through on highest difficulty as my first playthrough and instantly found out that the machine guns are your best choice against robots. personally i like the light machine gun even more than the heavy one. either way, give that gun mag-2-zap and sure 'n straight barrel. you will shred through every robot (and other creatures) that way.

    Yes I know what you mean about the robot phobia; however with a 100 percent in lockpick and hack you can really save your self some trouble at the end.

    I wish even the updated Outer Worlds port for Switch looked a fraction as good as this. There are so many pixelated textures that just won't even load and I don't think it was programmed to have some of them load. In other areas it looks brilliant and its just this inconsistency that makes the very low res textures stand out when there are parts of the game that look great. Combined with the lower details on...everything...from missing foliage to weapons and armor detail it makes me want to play this on the Series X when it launches. I'm also hoping a possible next generation 'Switch Pro' or upgraded model will be able to run this game and other at a higher fidelity and performance. The frame rate is playable and the game itself is playable but there is some hitching and pop in along with a strange FOV that feels a bit claustrophibic like you can't see as much as you should at one time in your view because the system limitations. I'm glad they have ported it and upgraded it but its a shame it can't be a bit better. I didn't notice very much of a difference from the day one patch to the patch that came out a few weeks back. Either way I'm still enjoying the game because of the great story, gameplay loops and looting, dark humor and characters, and large world to explore. The writing and story parts really stand out in this. On the other hand the Borderlands ports look fantastic compared to this and have a similar tone of humor though not quite as dark and the Borderlands games don't have that Fallout style and feel I really enjoy. That being said I got the Borderlands games and am enjoying them on Switch as well. There's an impressive number of AAA open world games on Switch from third party and with the Switch breaking records for sales on track for possibly 100 million by the end it's looking good for Switch owners. Nintendo just really needs to step up and offer an upgraded model that allows for more games and better experiences on current games without fracturing the player base so much.

      Go to edgewater drop the most expensive weapon or armor mod you have, fast travel right back to edgewater where you already are walk up to where you dropped it pick it up and do that over and over and they just duplicate then sell the stack.

      Nah, just land on Monarch in the 'dangerous' area and fight your way to Stellar Bay. It was pretty tough but I never needed to buy the key. Also made me eligible to do Sublight's stuff too.
