The problem with Groudon as an anti-Miraidon answer is that Miraidon can slap on Solar Beam for it and abuse its own sun haha. It's why Groudon isn't really used often to answer Miraidon in Ubers

People will probably test with future paradox forms and they will find 1 or 2 pokemon that fits perfectly in a miraidon team. For example, what will Calyrex do against Miraidon if Iron Jugulis uses Tailwind. Or what will Raging Bolt or Rillaboom do against a Sp. Atk Quark Drive boosted iron bundle using Freeze-Dry

This format is rough tho, building only around a single restricted makes it close to impossible to cover for every matchup. I like double restricted better.

I think a better counter to kyogre than groudon would probably be the one that's super effective against him and does well in the rain... or if you just want to get rid of the sun you could use koraidon

When I first saw Zamazenta in Scarlet and Violent I immediately thought of Kommo-O, who also took Reg D and F by surprise because people weren't sure how to handle it. Zamazenta is just that but with better stats and a free plus 1 in defense.

Mostly see the powercreep issue brought up in singles, and there a large chunk of the top mons are gen 9 or 8.

This team has a major flaw choice specs is weak to so many things first is fake out you can't stop it second is you always know what move he is going to use next so if you have a good team you can easily defeat it
that's the reason he begins with volt switch and usually leads with farigiraf, as it helps with both those weaknesses

@@neerajsgameroom7365It's also a lot easier to deal with when you know it's a popular team (after the tourny) and can tech an easy answer to it. Like the vid said, in top 8 there were a grand total of 2 ground types and both were on Miraidon teams lol
Miraidon being an absolute damage beast is fine and all but...
I'm stuck here thinking about tera fire/fairy miraidon running AV, electric seed, parabolic charge, overheat, draco meteor, and volt switch.
just being super tanky with lots of coverage, sitting on the field forever and then volt switching out when it has to. let's put it this way. Miraidon's base defenses are almost on par with zamazenta. parabolic charge is a drain move. that miraidon's not going down to a simple double target unless both are invested super effective moves.
First off you're holding 2 items, Second off Zenta has +1 defense from ability and usually uses Iron Defense as well so its defenses go significantly further, Thirdly Raging Bolt is also a defensive Electric/Dragon that very often goes for setup with Calm Mind and counters for it will also counter your Miraidon (such as snarl spam, parting shot incin, Ting Lu, etc).
Not to say it *can't* work but you are going to struggle a lot more than you may think especially facing other bulky teams like Caly-Ice, Zenta, and Terapagos

also yes I know in practice zama is much more tanky but what I'm getting at is that mirai has the base stats to aim for a tanky build.
I do agree, the problem with a setup/tanky offensive mon is usually that they're gonna be around for a while and so pokemon that rely on utility to improve team defenses will generally be a problem. and like you said in that case why not just use raging bolt instead, since it's basically the same idea.
I think what I was thinking about was more centred on the parabolic charge idea. I don't know exactly how it'd work in practice, but the amount of healing you'd get from parabolic charge and just being able to stick around for a long time when your opponent expects a blitzkreig kind of build (as well as the fact that that's what most miraidon players will be bringing) could similarly pose a lot of problems to bulky and balance offense teams.
team support in this sense would be far more offensive focused to take out opposing pokemon that would lower stats, rather than utility/defensive focused like for offensive miraidon, and you'd probably run more prankster taunt/screens perhaps? I could see grimmsnarl being a very decent member of a team like this, as well as something like chi-yu or chien-pao being able to lower spdef and handle ting-lu respectively. maybe even bundle might be a good option to take out incin and amoongus which would run interference otherwise.
idk, just theorycrafting in my head wondering if this might be a miraidon iteration that gives teams more trouble than they expect.

I think Miraidon will be stuck as a rogue option. Whenever it become meta, Lightning Rod users will come to completely shut it down. Tera fairy + lightning rod makes the pokemon immune to this Miraidon set.
Miraidon can learn Overheat r u sure that can be shut down? Zamazenta is even more vulnerable ghost type completely shut it down steel STAB on Zamazenta is hot garbage due to its low base atk and most of ghost type can learn will-o-wisp
@@sussybeam55 running overheat puts big holes in this strat for Miraidon. If you remove Draco you’ve lost the ability to damage dragons, removing Drift removes your best damage option, removing discharge removes your best spread damage and only way around lighting rod with stab, and volt switch is the entire reason Miraidon is good.
Also a different between Zamazenta and Miraidon is that Zam can just ignore ghost types. Yeah it sucks he can’t hit them, so just hit their teammate. Miraidon can’t ignore lightning rod as it completely disables Drift and Volt Switch.
