Apparently it was Clive Davis (Whitney’s producer and the head of her label) that turned it down, and he was absolutely right because as much as I love Whitney, I don’t think she would have done it Justice. I don’t know if he knew they would make it a masterpiece but it was the right call, sometimes that’s how it goes

From this and other songs of the 80s, you can feel a huge hope, freedom, optimism. At that time the world had a chance.
That's what I always say I miss about the 80s. It's not the music or the movies and definitely not the fashion, but it's the general sense of optimism the period had. So long as we didn't blow each other up in nuclear fire, there was the sense that things could and were slowly getting better, especially post-84. The present may not be super great but there was a brighter star on the horizon if we could just get there.
I really miss that feeling.
We were heading in a great direction up until 1990, then things began to tank, and now we're in a virtual dystopia. We were expecting the 90s to be incredible musically based on what was achieved up to then, but then grunge and rap came in, the industry marketed them hard, essentially garage band heroin music and noisy violent talking pollution respectively, a drop in talent that could be objectively measured (and has been) and took our entire culture and world with it, right down the toilet. Politicians and politics on both sides getting progressively worse and worse. Life has never been, for me, as good as it was in the 70s and 80s. I know so many others who'd say the same.
For sure! Hope now??? It seems long forgotten.
Keep your head up. Things are going to get better, I believe. Good things happening all around us but the corrupt mainstream media won’t report any of it.

Brilliant rendition of my one my favourite melodies. Thought Jordan was brilliant with Bostons More than a Feeling, and many others, but this tops it. As mentioned by Tomas Cupas, the sax is brilliant. These are THE BEST MUSICIANS alive. No doubt about that. Like the different stages also. Brings reality to everything. Oh i forgot the back up singers and band...brilliant

I always knew this song but for some reason never bothered to download or purchase it. I recently stumbled upon it again and I finally bought it on iTunes. This cover is outstanding. I don't think I ever heard a better cover of a hit like this. Bravo!

As a musician, this is a great band to study. Every person knows their place, when to hit it and when to pull back. As a Bass Player, much can be learned from the spot on tastefulness and melodic nature of his playing. A shout out to the sound people who have everyone dialed in to perfection. Love the song choice too.

This was an amazing song written for Whitney by writers who wrote 2 hats for her but rejected by Clive. The writers did it themselves and had a big hit. Hindley did an amazing job on this one and you can hear the perfection in the live performance. Congrats on an excellent job.
