Relatable somehow🥴
Claims it's a speed paint,
Turns out it's a damn good painting tutorial in its own right.
Thanks Roger! :)
Yeah I was expecting some quick dunk in washes type tutorial lol great tips all round in this vid
He makes it look so easy and then it tricks me into thinking i could to that
I would love to watch a video that describes the process you go through when you're deciding on a colour scheme and painting techniques before making a guide like this. You always seem to pick simple, effective and attractive colour schemes (with colour mixing), a streamlined painting approach, and interesting techniques. I am intrigued by this.
Great idea Andy, I've been toying with this too. There's definitely some beard-stroking, head-scratching silent prep that goes on as I figure it out, you're right!
@@MidwinterMinis Darren Latham's channel on CZcams recently put up a kind of "planning" video (for display level painting), but something similar for these speedpainting/tabletop gaming would be pretty awesome. The planning stage I find can often be as fun, if not more than other aspects of the hobby
Awww man this video is about to get SOOOO many more views with the re-release of the Gellerpox!
That moment when you accidentally play Guy's video on the projector in the conference room instead of on the display at the doctors office and the junior doctors wonder why a man in a creepy voice talks about painting toy soldiers, while they have a meeting in the conference room.
Guess I have to find a new job.
Haha, best reason to get fired, I'm sure ;)
well did you get fired?
@@Sassy_Witch The miserable health system in Germany and the lack of doctors are on my side. It's like protection against dismissal. 😅
@@lenoks_de Pfft, lucky you :P
You're almost immortal now
I bet it was more exciting than the original video. Something to talk about after the conference. +1 from me.
"Who came up with these names?" Evidently some madman with memories of those whimsical days gone by... Funnily enough known as Rogue Trader, and early 40k (Which faded away for the most part before it started to come back more recently.) which gave us such gems as the Rarest Space Marine- Brother Craig (no seriously.)
I still have a picture of those Rare Space Marine names from Rogue Trader.
I love the old Rogue Trader stuff, it's nice to think these names are a throwback to a more carefree, tongue-in-cheek time :)
Instant subscribtion. Gonna binge watch your other videos when I get the time. Amazing work and awesome advice
Excellent! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it :)
Same!
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Nathan Quinn instablaster :)
@Simon Kellen Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank you so much midwinter this really helped me overcome my fear of painting these models I really hope the best in everything else that you do
Thanks so much! Very kind of you to say :)
If this is speed painting, full length painting from you must be gorgeous
Haha, the trick is: I never take longer than I need to ;)
I really appreciate how you're not exclusively using citadel paints, showing that if you hone your craft you don't need to be spending 4€ on every color variation.
I’ve watched several of your videos today on models that I have no plans on ever owning or painting. Your narration is just really relaxing and the color choices you make are awesome and unique.
Haha, that's okay! Good videos are worth watching, even if you don't personally partake of the stuff in them :)
Well, for Nurgle models, "perfection" just means messy and revolting so lol
Exactly. Zenithal highlight, Nurgle's Rot, done, hah
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
@@asmodeus1234 not wrong especially in the case of Chaos 😂
@@crowdemon_archives I mean, I think they're beautiful
@@asmodeus1234 Personally I'm pretty partial to Tzeentch's fuckery but I can see your perspective. :P
I have been painting minis for decades, back when citadel was all lead and made stuff for non-GW games. Even so, I learned new techniques from your channel that helped me cut down the time it takes to paint my collection. Always something new to be learned. I recommend this channel to all my painting friends.
Thanks so much for recommending us Howard! I was painting back in those days too, haha
"decent paintjob" he says pfffffffff.......thats amazing
You're too kind!
"Decent paint job" it's better than the dam box art 👍
So just to start, indepndent from everything else just the little recipe for a paint thinner at 4:20. That stuff chainged my life and allowed me to revive a ton of dead paints too. It's absolutely amazing.
Because of this channel bought my first kit, super excited to start up the mini painting hobby.
NICE! Good luck starting out, matey!
I've been painting for 23 years on and off, and I struggle with inspiration due to being a perfectionist which leads to long turn around times which is frustrating.
This painting style is really inspiring. That wash you made was the first time I saw someone cover an entire model in wash and it is still looking nice and soft.
Also they way you mix paints is really interesting, not used to it since I use citadel paints. It feels refreshing to watch and I'm really impressed with the result you created on these minis!
Thank so much! Yeah, it definitely helps to give yourself a time limit or some sort of aim, other than simply being as good as you can possibly do it. I can always make things better, but at some point you just have to call it a day :)
SinglemSolis Agreed
Hurrah! Comment left for engagement purposes. Awesome. Looking forward to the explorers.
Me too! Such cool poses and models :)
As requested, here's the comment.
I did want to say, this channel has re-kindled my desire to paint Warhammer minis. I recently bought a starter kit with 3 Necrons in it, and they look better than I had ever done with my entire armies 10 years ago. In no small part, thanks to the tips and tricks you show here.
I'm so pumped to start painting again. Thank you!
Thank you so much Guy!! This Video helped me so much. Just got Back in 40k and started kill Team with some Friends. My thousand sons where meh. But thanks to your Guide, my gellerpox Team turned awesome
I agree with the other commenters. A common trait amongst the best content creators is colour mixing. I'm back into the hobby after years, but even way back I never was anywhere near as creative. So your thought process and approach would be cool. I have a primaris force I stripped because I wanted my own cool chapter... but I am frozen with indecision!
That's definitely a common problem! The agony of choice, it's almost impossible sometimes.
Brilliant! Could never imagine painting such an awesome job in such record time... Great tips and techniques here!
Five minutes in and I subbed. Love this calm, yet super enthusiastic style of tutorials. Thank you!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!!
I've used this matte medium thinning method for a couple of times now, absolutely love the results. Thank you!
life-changing video. thanks!❤️
awww yesss. perfect timing, lunch break and gellerpox it is!
Don't let their grossness put you off eating ;)
@@MidwinterMinis I don't think anything could turn me off from my Friday roast beef sandwich, lol
so colorful, I love it!
The results you get with the step by step techniques are FAN.....TASTIC!!!
Outstanding stuff! Always love the ease of access for these paint-jobs.
Thank you! That's what I try to achieve :)
New to the hobby! And love the easy way you explain painting! Gives me motivation and confidence to try things on my own!
Outstanding job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I think these are best result you've had so far, absolutely stonking results there.
Aw, too kind!
"slapchop" with speedpaints even before there was the name for it...well done. painting my stuff since your video alwasy this method. thanx man!
Amazing stuff! Works of art. An those 2 wet paints are so 😎
What an awesome paint scheme! With building, priming and basing included it took me not 2 but 4,5 nights to get them done but they look amazing. The colors are awesome and so different from most of the nurgle/deamon color schemes around. It just works perfect for these models. Also (and maybe even more important) I had so much fun following the tutorial step by step and archiving a very rewarding result. Very much like the way the tutorials are put up, easy to follow and very well explained.
Thanks so much, you’ve got yourselves a new follower!!
Brilliant, this got me back into the hobby. Thank you.
Excellent as always. That paint job has made me appreciate how great them models are.
Such, such good models! I really enjoyed making and painting them :)
Looks a hell of a lot better than any speed paint/contrast paint.
Learned a lot here, and will be using this during the winter season. Thanks!
I was so stuck on a theme for my Gellerpox team, and THISSS sealed the deal for me! Can't wait to get stuck in and paint my army!
I love this technique of black, gray and white basing - you've got me inspired to try this out - love the colour scheme you chose for the gellerpox
Thank you! It helps to get colour inspiration from cool pictures, films, album covers, stuff like that :)
Aside from the fact that you make some of the best quality, highly accessible videos for hobby gaming on CZcams...you are simply a voice that I like to listen to as I start my day. The way you approach lessons, encourage fun, and allow for enjoyment at each step really shows your passion and allows others to feel free to create and enjoy while exploring a vast world of possibility. Thank you for the game recaps, thank you for the low cost terrain, and thank you for being so wonderful at what you do. Next stop Patreon to try to repay you for the awesomeness you have bestowed upon me :D Have a most wonderful day!
these painting vids *chef's kiss*
I've never seen a creativity like that, just watching your videos one-by-one and can't stop. Thank you for inspiration, the models are amazing. It brings me to the childhood and I wanna try too :)
Guy, you really knocked it out of the park with this one. By far my favorite painting tutorial you've ever done. Keep up the good work, mate.
Wow! Thanks so much :) I really enjoyed painting them too
Wow great results and guide
mind blowing how awesome they look! great work bud
Really stepping up your paint game Guy. Loving how you're slowly introducing more advanced techniques but in a very simple way to still make them a easy paint job
Thanks Anzo! Yeah, I was a bit apprehensive about introducing new products, but a couple of optional things here and there can't hurt, eh? :)
Love these series paint tutorials. Especially your Blackstone series..
Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for making and sharing this video. I really like the final look of the paint job.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed these gross gribblies :)
As always lovely stuff.
Thank you Imogen!
I don't play warhammer. I don't paint minis. I don't paint anything really. But your videos draw me in! I can't stop watching. Excellent job. really cool content and channel.
This is such a cool colour scheme! And I love how you used the limited pallete!
Already painted these, but loved watching you take this set on. Thanks for the vid!
Nice! Did you enjoy painting them? I had good fun with these!
Love your painting technique.. You guys, 7th Son, Frazer and Sonic have inspired me to paint my models. The thing I’ve learnt, is not to think about it too much and just do it. You will surprise yourself. I’ve picked up the paint thinning and large brush tips from you. Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐿.
They look great. Fantastic job, as always!
Thanks very much! :)
Those are honestly amazing!! Holy crap! Like wow!!!!
Too kind Conor, always too kind.
Guy you don’t even need to make this a speed painting challenge we still will watch it because it’s great content
Really enjoyed watching this
This is such a good video. Brilliant explaination of simple easy to follow techniques resulting in great models. Fantastic video and my favourite so far. Deserved to be watched more.
Wow, thanks so much! Lots of people seem to like this one :)
the results you achieve with a limited palette and under painting are* superb!
Thanks very much! :)
Great Video! Thank you for all of the great tips.
No problem, Jarrett!
I will say Guy. Watching your videos again for the 20th time I have realised this video has been a massive step. With the Zenithal highlight and some of other technique's has made these just turn out the best you've done on the channel. Absolutely love this episode.
Loved this one dude, thanks a lot!!
Ohhh it's soooo cool. Find your Channel today and i love. Greetings from Germany.
I have a set of these that I need to get outta my pile of shame at some point. Brilliant tutorial, and this is gonna help me a ton!
Looks great !
Great work, as always
Thanks Tobi!
Thank you very much for sharing this tecniques.
This is an amazing video!
Glad you enjoyed it Luis :)
I had no idea how cool these models were. I don’t think I ever saw this box. Thanks for the video.
It's a great set, eh? Really unique models :)
Incredible painting of miniatures and figures. Good notes on mixing mediums. Ty.
No worries Patrick! Glad you found it useful :)
Wow, incredible! You have exceptional skills sir.
Thank you! You're too kind.
I love how you starte the minis giving them a zenithal light and how you managed to keep the paint transparent enough to allow the zenithal to show all the way to the end...also my best compliments on the end result...really loved the colo scheme
Just getting back into painting mini's and loving the technique's used here! Especially the way you've primed them to give the shading for your 1st coat. Will grab some medium asap
Nice one! Yeah, tactical use of medium can really bam your paintjobs up a notch :)
I've been watching tons of mini painting videos, but I have to say, your channel is the MOST informative and detailed of the painting process, I immediately went out and bought all the paints I needed and stopped procrastinating thanks to your channel. Please keep up the amazing content!
Nooooo, you're too kind Zakk. Thanks so much, glad you find our videos so useful and informative! :)
You make this amazing speed painting look so easy. Very inspiring! Thanks, you got my sub.
Nice job, Sir! Thanks for sharing...great color schemes.👍🏻
Thanks very much :)
I got me some gellerpox infected two years ago after this video got out to follow this tutorial. Stopped just before painting the bases and then kind of forgot about the whole thing. Now I'm finishing them two years later and they're absolutely phantastic. I'm really proud of them thank you so much for this!
Now I'm thinking about buying blackstone fortress to follow your videos as well 👍
Awesome video, first of yours I've seen. Instant subscribe (need stuff to keep me going during lock-down)
I must say this is my favourite video from your channel :D I find it very relaxing and inspiring ;D
Awesome work and advice.
Thanks Hadrien! :)
amazing result, Im waiting for my airbrush in the post and I'm going to give something similar a try with my poxwalkers. Thanks!
This is an amazing video. Thankyou.
No problem Mike!
This is amazing. Your whole channel is amazing.
Ohhh, you're too kind :)
The glossy blood looks incredible
Fantastic Guy! This just makes me want to get painting again...soon...
You'll be full of cool new ideas when you get back to it! :)
You are great sir!! "If you feel like punishing yourself," was well said sir!
Haha, literally every moment in the hobby ;)
I really liked this video.. it is full of details and even the measurement for the colours are very very useful. I have had in mind for ages to start learning painting minis and I think I will be starting soon maybe with a big model on which I can start even making a few mistakes.
I am thinking to start with the Orks :)
I've just got into acrylic painting miniatures and these tips and techniques helped a lot!! Thanks :)
Nice! Glad my videos are helping you out! :) Good luck getting started!
Really inspiring content. Thanks.
No problem!
Amazing eye, all ties in and look well
Thanks Jay! Glad it worked out :)
Sweet .. always classy.... Luv your techniques 😍
Cheers Luke!
The lighter flesh tone drybrushed on immediately made them look amazing. Also absolutely using the thinner recipe, that stuff seems like magic.
Stellar job my dude. Good choice on using the thinned paint as more of a wash on those initial highlights. it's stuff like this that really helps new painters and less motivated veterans paint more! Keep up the good work you kick ass!
Glad you enjoyed it, Javan! :)
Best speed paint Ive seen in a while!
Thanks so much! :)
Awesome video! Just returning to war hammer and I’ve just purchased the adepts mechanicus start collecting. Can’t wait to get into the action!
Yay!!! Christmas has come early!! :) Cheers Guy!
Woohoo! Got there eventually, eh? :)
Absolutely amazing paint job! I’m always on the lookout for these kind of speed painting techniques, since it is the only way I can get anything looking descent. I don’t have the skill to be fiddling about to much...
This was fantastic
