#armandgun #schmeisser #stg44 - Sport
My grandpa was issued the stg in late 1944 when he was drafted. He said back then it was such a leap from the k98 that it became a quick favorite among the German troops. He never specifically said it was the stg though, it wasn’t until years later when I found his old notebook from the war with a drawing he made of him and his squad riding east sitting on a tank where he was clearly holding an stg.
Cracker
I think it was called MP44 at the time. Sturmgewehr might have been a propaganda term, but I might be wrong about that.
@@blackdificationyou are
@@blackdification The gun was initially referred to as a "machine pistol" so it could be snuck through development because hitler had vetoed the assault rifle idea previously.
I wish I could thank your grandpa for his service. The outcome was what changed the course of the world for the worst.
I'll take the StG.
If I'm gonna die in the zombie apocalypse, I want to die with class.
It was a close call for me. Was originally going to go for it too
Personally I’d want to run with a sig 550. Now that’s classy :)
@@armandgun plus as long as one out of every five guns in circulation is an AK, I’d rather spawn with the rare piece of art and find a Kalashnikov eventually 😂

Plus it's a wall gun so you can get ammo for it constantly ;)

I'd pick the ak simply for the cartridge. If 8mm kurz was as common as 7.62x39 I'd pick the stg because the drip is more than worth it
A 7.62x39 StG would be badass honestly, something like that was announced during shot show
agreed
Could somebody with a cnc mill make a replica chambered in 5.56?
@@JinKee yeah psa is doing that, they announced it at shot show
@@JinKee PSA is making a copy in 8mm kurz, 556, 7.62x39, and 300 blackout. It's not an exact copy as there's very notable changes like it using AR-15 magazine but nonetheless it's super cool
The later stg we're built for around a 3000 round life span. To speed production they dropped using multiple size locking shoulders to set the headspace. Instead they used 1 size and backfilled it with lead after positioning for headspace.
Well now I'm just unhappy and feeling yucky. I don't want them putting lead in my sturmgewehr!
If it shouldn't go in my body it shouldn't go in my sturmgewehr.
great content awesome review: Man I am an STG-44 fan since I first heard about them when I was allot younger. PSA is supposed to be a doing a release of a Retro reproduction clone of the STG-44 in several caliber later this year, in which I am eagerly awaiting. the STG-44 is an awesome design and just sexy as heck!! I also think it has allot of potential for future modern upgrades, accessories and especially furniture.. if the price of the reproduction STG-44's were more in the lines of the Budget AR platform prices of around 5-$600 or even under the $1K, I think the STG-44 could give the AR a run for its money being Merica's favorite rifle
Woooooo!
Hopefully the S doesn’t HTF before they release them for sale 😬
I would drop the 7.92 x33 and get one in 7.62 x 39 instead
The way why they made that metal grip at the barrel, enabled you to keep warm hands at the long winters at the Eastern front.
Won't get warm if you don't have ammo ... 🤷🏻♂️
Getting a notification when I'm bored and it's my favorite gun of all time? Yes please!
It's a very exotic weapon and a very cool to have as a favorite indeed
Since being hands on with this firearm, my appreciation for it has grown immensely
So ahead of its time. It defined a class and was still one of the best options for ages afterwards.
@@armandgun as reliable as AKs are, I had way more fun shooting a Sturmgewehr.
Good video! The problem with the STG44 is very limited ammo availability. It is a historical artefact and that is about it.
You get Ammo in Serbia
I agree, but it was an important gun though which influenced the later assault rifles (ak 47 and m16)
My answer to the ak-stg post apocalyptic dilemma thing, is that my heart wants the stg but the practical answer would be the ak47 mainly cause of ammo, nowadays it's easier to find 7.62x39 in many places, but you can't find 8mm kurtz everywhere cause it's a cartridge that it's not used at all on militarily stuff. Also imo the ak47 would work better cause of it's resistance and endurance.
Great video as always, keep on with this vids man :^)!
Spot on I was thinking could swap the stg for five ak47
I think it is just a normie myth that AK47 would be more durable and last longer, we have never seen any real tests of this, ak47 just has the normie cultural fixation, stg44 should be fairly tested vs the ak47
Get one of the new repro ones in 5.56 or 7.62
@@sionsoschwalts2762
Still hasn't made it past the development stage.
An stg that takes AK or Ar mags would be a godsend
AK-47.. due to finding ammo... I dont even know if anyone makes the Kurtz ammo anymore.. but 7.62x39 is everywhere
Ahhh nuts. I should have ruled ammo out. Just wanted it to be gun vs gun for this one. I’d still go ak but for different reasons
@@armandgun still pick AK just for reliablity
PPU makes kurz
How is your ranch deal going? Looking good? I can't wait to see these guns FIRING! 👍🏻🇺🇲
Taxes get filed end of the month. With the return we should be eligible. Mortgage app goes in mid March hopefully, then appraisal then we should be good! Everything is looking good for it. There’s an extra land component that I’m trying to swing with it too tho, it adds 50% to the cost but would mean I could do a 1M long range.
@@armandgun Wow the range sounds AWESOME! Good luck hopefully paperwork goes smooth. I have 5 acres surrounded by farmfields but the property your talking about is NEXT LEVEL! For folks who are interested in shooting. I'll tell you what there's nothing better than walking out the door and shooting, in a safe direction of course. At my place there is only 1 direction I consider safe to shoot rifles. About 20 aces away there is a natural berm that goes up about 20 feet frim where I shoot. Tracer rounds are like missles because it takes a few seconds for tracer to hit natural berm. Also i have a good backstop on my property also. Safety FIRST RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS! 👍🏻🇺🇲
As much as I love the stg44 I'd have to pick the ak due to its reliability and it's ammo being more available
For post apocalypse the AK is probably the best rifle you can go with. Available ammo, easy to maintain and operate, super durable, simple in construction, and interchangeable parts. The only problem is the sights are not the best.
Answer to your question: AK all day. I like the simplicity and durability of the platform, plus I feel like I would get more reliability with a milled receiver (nothing against stamped receiver).
STG44 🔥🔥🔥🔥
With the ammo variability on this gun, I’d rather take the stg and live through the apocalypse with badassery and class because if I ever need a Ak, some guy down the road will definitely have one.
😆😆
A bit unfair to compare the two. STG came some years earlier. AK 47 and others came later on and they used the knowledge in the STG design.
Stg44 hands down because they're very similar anyways , besides the stg44 is the godfather of all ARs.
It's the godfather of Armalite Rife? Because that's the only AR I know.
@@Niever AR=Assault Rifle.
STG44 It was the beginning of "Assault rifle" Look at the appearance of it. It has been produced since 1944. Its design is beautiful that transcends time.
Machine gun there's no such thing as an assault rifle. Because an Uzi and Thompson are the main example, because they're "sub machine guns". Literally no such thing as an assault rifle
@@Niever 99% of militaries use assault rifles and you claim that they don't?
What are they? Pointy sticks.
:D
Its amazing how little the shape of forward action rifles has changed since the STG. It really is the grandfather of the modern assault rifle.
The AK is more reliable (more sealed off system than the StG), more durable, has more parts availability should you need to do maintenance, and 7.62x39 should be more plentiful than 7.92x33... but I'll take the StG 44 because I love it.
in what world is an ak more sealed off than an stg44
@@oldls7t_211 charging handle slot isn't covered, and with the dust cover off debris can get right into the bolt... the AK isn't perfect but there's still less open area where stuff can get in through
@@CoyoteManW bro when you set an ak to any position except safe you create a huge gaping hole in the gun that exposes the internals, im not claiming that one is better than the other but there certainly isnt a more "sealed off" one and afaik the stg only exposes the recoil spring while the ak exposes the boltcarrier, bolt and fire control group
@@oldls7t_211 the StG also exposes the bolt carrier with the dust cover off (aka when firing, so it's the same situation with the AK), the StG has gaps on both sides while the AK only has it on the right side, and the AK bolt carrier in itself is a single unit, whereas with the StG debris can get in between the bolt carrier and op rod so there's more chances of a stoppage (I think), so all things considered I'd say it's reasonable to say the AK is a more sealed off system
Love the STG 44 but definitely taking the milled AKM because of reliability, time in combat , ammo, parts availability. Nice guns as always nice video👍👍
Would love to see an in depth video covering that Type 3.
Also, i was wondering, which has a smoother action, the AK or the STG?
Why did i find your channel just tonight at 01:16 ? You are awesome ! Instant subscribe. Keep it up my friend :)
The STG 44 is the Mother off all Assault Rifles ever...
A Legend....maybe the most epic Gun
(And a beauty one) 🥰
Machine gun, no such thing as an assault rifle.
STG for its historical purposes, but the ak-47 for its durability and easily accessible ammo.
I read that some of the captured Stug44s by the Soviets in WW II were rendered unusable by literally smashing the rifle's buttock on something so as it broke the stock off the weapon as it had the recoil spring in it as you pointed out.
It's a pretty cool design.
Yes, I'm going to say it, it was WAY ahead of it's time.
Not really... what about the fedorov avtomat, things like that..
@@rider4440
The federov was a battle rifle, and had major draw backs due to it being an experimental ww1 rifle.
Gun is heavy. Had one in my hands the other day. I like the iron sights.
German Mp38, Mp40, Mp44, and STG44 receivers were elongated so bolt carriers didn’t bottom out eliminating additional recoil pulse to shoulder experienced with majority of firearm designs.
@@Arm_guns I’m older generation match competitor and have idea how leave message on telegram?
I'll have to go with the AK, for the availability of its ammo, accessories, replacement parts and outright replacements in case one is damaged.
Yes, the StG44 has superior ergonomics, but that doesn't matter if the gun can no longer be fired, e.g., because one cannot find compatible ammo.
StG 44 still in use in the ME. Post apochalypse, I'd go with it not only over AK47 but AR 5.56 platforms as well. Why, overall combination of accuracy and stopping power. Essentially the same stopping power as AK47 but accurate for 100 meters more than AK47,, very close to 5.56 in comparison. I wouldn't expect to survive too many gunfights to begin with so I'm not particularly concerned with other factors. Considering it's a wider round that AK it compensates by having the stock more inline with the barrel like AR, being heavier, built to tighter tolerances and with a slightly slower rate of fire. It's not until you get to designs with the picatinny rail and red dot sights that newer rifles gain a significant advantage.
nice video arm and gun
Playing the BSB song "quit playing games with my heart" because everyone here wants a STG44 so bad. LOL!!!
Only HnK lock n load sounds make my hair stand up with goosebumps
Excelent video, it's impresive german weapon
I think a wooden furniture for the handguard would be pretty slick
AK and MP44 both my favorites. Hard to pick. In today's ammo situation, there's much more 7 62x39 than 7.92 Kurz. PPU is only maker right now of Kurz.
I love that gun. Reminds me of Medal of Honor Allied assault from the good ol days.
3:15 The MKb42 had a Bayonet lug on it
The AK-47 is just too beautiful. Like bro, c'mon. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to look away from that gun!

I got a few designs in mind to bring this GOD GUN Back
Such a GORGEOUS Piece🤟✊🔥👍🤘
I choose AK out of the fact I'm more familiar with that layout. Holding it. Just feels more comfortable to me
Answer to the QOTD: Type 1 AK. It’s just a more reliable firearm and has WAY easier ammunition to find.
The stg 44 was the First ever Assault rifle to be made and it was the Only Assault rifle at the time
The Federov avtomat 1915 was the first assault rifle but it was only made in very limited numbers
@@Reupload-Kanal-Von-Lukas-HeilFederov was not the first assault rifle. It’s the first battle rifle. An assault rifle uses a intermediate cartridge, which the Federov doesn’t. It uses a full sized round, therefore putting it in the category of a battle rifle, lmg, or automatic rifle.
I swear some people don’t research anything before repeating something.
I WANT A BOOM DIGGITY HOODIE SO BAD
what a beauty
I would have to pick the ak over the stg mainly for the wood grip near the barrel.
Speaking of the Ak 47, it's like the Stg 44 had a one night stand with the M1 garand. It took the looks of the Stg 44 while taking the internals of the M1 garand
3:44
ya know, to come back to.
What’s your opinion on CZcams’s new guide lines on “ Modifying weapons “ and the state of USA laws on “ assault weapon bans “ .
Raging dumpster fire that’s rolling towards a hospital
People like to deny , but AK 47;was basen on this gun. You can clearly see it in the design. And yes AK 47 bolt assembly is more similar to m1 Garand. Still AK 47 was mostly based on STG.
No it wasn’t,mechanical not at all. Cosmetically, yes.
M16 is based on STG.
AK has only one similar thing with STG.
STG44 It's my favorite weapon of all
I'm new to your channel and really enjoy your collection. I haven't see take out your guns to shoot. Is this something you do from time to time?
It’s something I’m hoping to do starting this summer. Working on a ranch purchase this spring that has enough land that I could do aj on-site range for all the full autos. I discussed it more in the ‘I got a DShK’ video
@@armandgun That'll be exciting! Good luck with the property purchase.
No one survives what’s coming.
which one would i choose between the OG ak47 and the chad stg44 in a post apo scenario? Well assuming ammo availability isn't an issue (if it were: ak47, no questions asked), ak47 because the stg is a very peculiar design that is all stamped metal meaning it has no durability what so ever, you use them until they are unusable, and then get a new one, that's the idea behind it. Ak47 on the other hand is an assault rifle that is meant to be extremely durable and be treated very harshly, perfect for post apo.
The Sturmgewehr 44 is the obvious pick. Not only is it’s recoil control amazing cousins it’s accuracy to be really good, it also is extremely reliable.
100% AKM for a SHTF scenario
If i was going to war in the modern day i'd take the AK every time, if i was just going to have one for the sake of it it's the STG every time.
As much as I like you on Instagram, I prefer the full length reviews on CZcams.
That’s why I’m here 💁🏻♂️
Gotta go by
AK47 based on my current understanding. I have heard the AK47 is reliable and even a gun novice like me can drag it through the mud, clean it out, and it will still fire. In a post apocalyptic situation, there's no telling if I can ever find help with maintenance, so reliability is king.
Providing sourcing ammo or mags isn’t an issue I’d use the STG over the AK it has lighter recoil and imo better ergonomics it’s a lot more controllable on full auto
I need all of those to buy ok
I would take the AK47 over the STG-44 any day.
Reasons? There are a lot more AKs out there, a lot more spare parts including magazines and the 7.62x39mm ammo is more available by leaps and bounds over 7.92x33mm Kurz ammo.
That should be an easy choice for anyone.
*STG 44* : This is nice ...
*AK-47* : (points) ... but I like this better.
I would like to know more about the STG-44 WHAT Caliber will it be in
The stg can feed nato into Lund sit you are good enough but the ak is more durable and modernizable. Personally the Stg if fighting against apocalyptic mutants and ak for other people
And now we get to buy new ones! Okay, clones, but PSA is finally bringing the Hill & Mac Gunworks StG-44 to market. I’m buy one in 8mm Kurz for sure. Can’t wait!!
What Are Your Thoughts On The Viking Baikal MP446.
please do a colab with shadiversity, they're the nerd for all old weapons that arent guns ! it'd be really cool to hear you two talk and nerd out about really cool weapons !!!!
In an apocalypse scenario, I'd bet 7.62x39 would be way easier to obtain than 8mm Kurz. So that too would make the AK the better choice. Plus: While I'm not sure how many milled AKs were produced, it's gotta be a vastly greater number than StG44s produced. So finding spare parts and/or replacement guns would probably also be way easier.
Well with the PSA one coming out, both of those issues maybe solved.
Ak because the ammo is infinitely more abundant. If that weren't the case then I'd say stg just because straight insert mags are better than rock 'n' lock
paraphrasing a German account on kar98 with mg42 support vs st44 small unit tactics. "Before we would leap and bound over each other providing support. Later we never had to stop"
As a fellow Canadian I am wondering how you have acquired some of these guns?
Stick around. You’ll find out
I know you might get this alot but was hoping to know how were you able to get this awesome gun especially fully auto :( I’m in canada too 😂
STG-44 Should Make a Come Back.
Moving the sights back wouldn’t have worked with the v notch tangent sight
i came for stg 44. i stayed for cuteness
You called "Schmeisser" when pointing at MP40. Wrong. Ing. Dr. Hugo Schmeisser had nothing to do with that. MP40 was designed by Heinrich Vollmer and Bertold Geipel who were working for ERMA company in Germany. Sturmgewehr 44 was designed by Schmeisser indeed.
You might want to really research before accusing people of being wrong, “schmeisser” was a term given to the MP40 by the allies.
Great video like gun p0rn. In a post apocalyptic situation the AK, it can be tossed in mud and keep on shooting, but all things being equal, I would want an HK416
I would choose the ak because they were built to last. Where the stg was built just to get into the field.
Hey Arm and gun, how did you get your hands on this? Been looking for one for a while now...
Wasn't the mag the handguard rather than the normal location under the barrel?
I think soldiers just started using the mag well (not the magazine itself) as a hand position because it had the tendency to overheat. Also with the MP 40 it was also common to have the second hand on the mag well, so it was a quite natural adaption.
@FactoryofRedstone On the MP40 it was definitely the correct technique, might have just carried over.
amazng
I'd go with the AK post-apocalypse, purely 'cause 7.62 is gonna be a shit-ton easier to find than 7.92.
I'd pick ak due to ammo availability
I mean just like what ChErNoByl_Lol0 said “ There is no more 8mm Kurtz, so I’m going with the stg44 because you can shoot the 22 long rifle version :)
Hitler disliked the STG because Germany was struggling extreme material hardships and Germany couldn't afford troops firing ammunition in the same way the US does today. That's partially why they stuck to hard hitting K98 rifles. It had to be kept simple to reserve what few resources they had. Otherwise I'm sure Hitler would've loved the STG if not for the resource issue.
Post apocalyptic world, AK47 hands down. Very reliable, durable, finding parts if need be for them would be much easier, ammo bountiful compared to the 8mm Kurz. Not much of a comparison when it comes to surviving the apocalypse.
AK no question mags, parts, availability of ammo, and it's just bomb proof. The front gets hot but not as hot as that sheet metal handgaurd
The Ak would be my choice Not because it’s very reliable but also because it’s ammunition is widely available compared to the 7.92x33 Kurz cartridge which worked in only a very small number of weapons most of them extremely late war weapons
Post-apoc: AK, you can actually find ammo for 'em.
I pick Sturmgewehr. I can caliber convert it for ammunition problems, just can’t get over how sexy it looks. Some may disagree but I think Sturmgewehr is *way* better looking than any AK.
AK all day. Ammo and mag availability alone puts it on top for the wasteland walk.
does this actually function or is it just a display gun?
