This is the fastest way to remove a radiator, no need to drain the heating system or even the radiator.
Just be careful of any sludgy black water that can potentially come out (when carrying it) if you don't cover the holes properly.
Here's how to remove a radiator for decorating without draining:
    1. Close both radiator valves
    2. Put some old towels down to catch any water
    3. Crack the nuts in between the valves and radiator with an adjustable spanner
(you might need some water pump pliers to hold the valve still)
    4. Wait for the water to stop coming out or slow right down
    5. Loosen the nuts off the valves
    6. Move the valves and cover the tail holes with your thumbs
(you'll need two people for larger radiators)
    7. Lift the radiator off the brackets on the wall and carry it to a drain outside (or toilet) and empty the water (or sludge) out of the radiator
You might want to blank the valves off with 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch blank nuts, especially if you have any thermostatic radiator valves as these can be knocked open accidentally.
