About BILLY STRINGS:
Michigan-born and now Nashville-based, Billy Strings is a GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician, who arrived on the scene as “one of string music’s most dynamic young stars” (Rolling Stone). Strings is in the midst of a triumphant year after winning Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards for his critically acclaimed record, Home. Produced by Glenn Brown, the record also led Strings to top Billboard’s 2020 year-end charts in both Bluegrass categories-Top Bluegrass Artists and Top Bluegrass Albums-and continues to receive widespread critical acclaim. Of the release, The Associated Press proclaims, “it is his creative musical storytelling, paired with solid vocals on Home that should seal the deal, pleasing fans of the genre and creating some new ones…the perfect blend of pure talent and pluck,” while The Wall Street Journal declares, “Billy Strings has clearly emerged as a premier guitar flatpicker of this era.” Since his debut, Strings has been awarded Guitar Player of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Awards, selected as one of Rolling Stone’s “New Country Artists to Know” and performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and PBS’ “Bluegrass Underground.” Known for his electric live shows, Strings will continue his extensive headline tour throughout 2021 including upcoming shows in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Atlanta and Nashville among several others.
Out September 24 via Rounder Records, Renewal was produced by Jonathan Wilson (Conor Oberst, Roger Waters, Father John Misty) and solidifies Strings’ position as a singular artist-one who honors the history of the music that inspires him, while continually pushing it forward. With the record’s sixteen tracks, Strings shares a more personal and honest perspective through his songwriting, while incorporating his wide range of influences with elements of bluegrass, classic rock, metal, psychedelic music and more.
LYRICS
(Apostol / Weisberger / Allen)
In the cold early morning in the hills of Kentucky
I woke to the sound of the rain
And the girl from last evening laid silently sleeping
though I couldn't remember her name
My head was a pounding and the sweat poured
around me like the faucet that she left on high,
With a chip on my shoulder I'm another day older
and I swear I could break down and cry
I Never once made a dollar, which I didn’t gamble,
or scramble to burn at both ends
I’ve raged all night long, in the hour before dawn
on spirits and bitters and blends
What’s left of my day might be crimson or
grey but never again black and white
With a chip on my shoulder I'm another day older
and I swear I could break down and cry
I'm a fool with my money and I'm a fool with
my drinking I'm sinking to bottom of the well,
Adding fuel to the fire like my wildest desire
is to spend the next lifetime in hell
I could cruise down to Hades, in a
snow white Mercedes and a devilish look in my eye
With a chip on my shoulder I'm another day older
and I swear I could break down and cry
There's a hard place on one side and a
Rock on the other, no corners to cut in this maze,
Only one way to do it, just to grin and bear through it,
I've been drinking up the courage for days
So I’ll drain every cup and keep stacking them up
till the sun stumbles out of the sky
With a chip on my shoulder I'm another day older
and I swear I could break down and cry
I’ll keep on this way till my last dying day,
it’s a blessingI’ve tried to disguise
With a chip on my shoulder I’m another day older
and I swear I could break down and cry

I too, am on my deathbed. This is the song I have requested to be played at my funeral/life celebration! I have not seen a greater poet since Bob Dylan in the 60"s!!!!!
Rest easy
I hope you find peace in wherever you call home!
Godspeed brother
For those who criticize Billy for not being "Bluegrass" or "Traditional" I'd say this song could be plopped onto the radio in 1952 and be loved by all.✌️🇺🇲

Billy Strings will heal your soul with this album
Anybody else feel like Billy is documenting your lives in song form? I have not found an artist who's songs are so in tune with the current state of my life since I was a young man and found Jerry. I'm very grateful his music and it's been getting me through a really difficult spot in my world .
Um yes
A fan from the first time I heard him .
Would be amazing to hear billy covering some Stevie Ray Vaughn
I always said he reminds of SRV especially on enough to leave video
He could
He and Stevie have same birthday crazy
Great song.. traditional and modern at the same time
The best bluegrass album Grammy should have been on this album
Every song is a true work of art, instant classics

Wow,that's a sad wish to spend time in hell....I hope you find Jesus because life is better in heaven.
There is hair on his ears and you know what that means... there's sin in his heart. :)
How would you know what heaven is like? Are you dead?
@@mikepaul6960 Check out A Glimpse of Eternity by Ian McCormack on CZcams.
I have never been to heaven and I am not dead. There are heaps of videos on
CZcams of people who have had Near Death Experiences of Heaven and Hell.
Heaven and Hell are very real and so is God and the Devil.
Makes for catchy lyrics.
Can’t wait for the festival circuit!!
