The piano outro is so gorgeous. I love this song
The ending of this song will forever give me the chills
I’ve replayed it like 500 times. Brings me to tears and makes me feel alive.
There's a type of endlessness about the outro that's hard to explain, but almost addictive . Which it would go on for dozens of minutes
Tears
A revelation perhaps?
@@MrSotero123 same my friend, replayed it hundreds of times
I wish I could live rest of my life feeling the way I do when I hear the second half of this song. Vulnerable, inspired, and alive.
You can! And your comment resonates w me big time.
This is such a beautiful performance, their album "lost in the dream" takes me back to my uni days, my music producer friend had it on vinyl, we used to sit around playing card games having a few beers and spliffs playing music, its one of those moments in life you don't realize are one of the best moments you will ever have, I remember the set up of living room perfectly to this day, I wanna throw them some love while I'm here, try searching Lonely Gimmick - Stay At Home to Sleep In, it's there music and it gives me strong The War On Drugs vibes, they did it all themselves on their laptop and its honestly so impressive
when I listened to this outro I felt as if I had returned to my family home, with all its happiness and misery... what a bittersweet journey
The most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard in my 46 years. My new personal anthem
Album of the year. By a mile.
I really need a version of this song with an extended instrumental outro. I could listen to another hour of it.
Yeah, this album while great, has left a lot to be desired with track length and extended solos and ambience build ups.
@@mattmtoronto Adam stated on a very recent podcast that he has a 32 minute song that he might get released as an EP in the future. Adam thought that it wouldn’t work on I Don’t Live Here so,…
Yeah I think we need that
So proud of you Adam & your band Another good one 👏 ❤ Love Aunt Sharon
Aunt Sharon! Always good to see you saying hi to Adam. Cheers from Alaska.
Hugs and love from Bangladesh. 💝❣️❤️
How cute is this?!!
Can’t wait to see your neph and the boys in Durham,NC! My first concert seeing these guys.
@Lee Phelps shoot wish I could be there. You'll love it. Kind of 80's /Fleetwood Mac sound. Yes Adam & all are awesome 👌
Something about the music from this band. It holds you sofly but tight and you float away with it into a world of peace and serenity.
Well put 👏
The first time I heard that piano outro, I started to cry. It is like the whole song just builds up to that cathartic moment. What a music! Still tears me up. Thank you.
🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🙏🙏🙏
Quite possibly the best ending to a song ever, when the instruments take over. Ahhh
I could never express how much your music has touched me over the last decade.
jesus the sound on this. amazing.
Still after listening to it over 1000 times I still have goosebumps. The war on drugs is always pure magic!
P.s best fukin band in the world right now.
I have never heard this band before🙈. But my grandchild introduced me to this song. He is only 3 years old😊. I am sold. What a performense.
Wow what just happened , this song creeps up on your without realizing and pulls you in completely. Towards the end without realizing you don't want it to stop, stunning guitar riff, piano and rhythm section, This is what music is about taking you to somewhere that is beyond yourself, yes the outro is just so inspiring and melancholy all at the same time. Martin Duffy my friend RIP.
This is one of those songs that should be playing on the radio over and over and win a Grammy!
The best live band in the world atm 🏧 FACT.
I would say Wilco edges WoD out just slightly
So much to like here, and the depth most bands can't get near, thanks from an old man that won't be here.much longer...
It's sad that CZcams doesn't have a repeat button, because I could listen to this all day long. What a track! ♥
Rightclick on the video, repeat
@@user-nf9vu6sy9t Omg! How come I didn't know that!? Well, that means I will have this one on repeat from now on.
@@user-nf9vu6sy9t what do you mean?
This tune never gets old. I melt everytime I hear that outro
I’ve never been good with changes, too much overthinking about choices till when the real change finds you, then you have no choice and even if you’re scared you also feel good and positive, this outro means real hope. Thanks for your beautiful melodies and lyrics blowing.
I can't really listen to this whole album consistently, because I keep having a love affair with a particular song I just play over and over. Before the album was out, I played the title cut a thousand times, then I fell in love with Harmonias Dream, at the moment I can't stop playing Wasted. Out of the 10 songs, living proof is the only one I won't have a love affair with. I'm ready to play Victim nonstop next, but I can't stop playing Wasted. Harmonias Dream is my favorite, with 8 close runnerups
I just cant stop I Dont wanna wait, that distorted vocals at the beginning 😍
I just listen to it 5 times in a row with my gf
Oh. You listen to their music like do. Constantly and on repeat. I'll get stuck on a song and then remember they have other songs so I'll change songs.. then that one gets stuck on repeat too. It takes me ages to finish a record of theirs. And I'm not sad about it.
Whaha same for me.
Harmonias dream has a briljant middle section. The music fades, take a breath, then that masterpiece on his guitar
On Deeper.. it was Pain that scarred me (in the best possible way), on I don't live.. it's Change.
These songs resonate me on such a profound, molecular level that I can't even come close describing it.
If I'd die tomorrow, I'd be happy knowing I lived in a time I was able to experience the magic that is TWOD
Oh my the keyboards on this version..... I'm bawling
So much quality... Just close your eyes and travel with it. Just want to know how it would be to play this, how every note is perfectly melodic and on point. Thanks
Great version! The vocal harmonies! The piano solo at the end!
this band takes you to a special place.
The final 4 minutes is this song... that feeling that you'll never want this song to end. Really love your music mostly for that reason. Kute Vile has that same style, love it.
Love the long fadeout on this tune. Reminds me a little of "Eyes to the Wind"
I had the same thought, and I love both endings. It's rare for fade outs/outros to be that long but you don't want it to end!
@@scottprelewicz6792 I could listen to the last 3 minutes of Thinking Of A Place for eternity. 11 minute song that still ends too soon.
@@steveym90 Exactly! That is another great example, I'm sure there are more. "You Don't Have to Go" comes to mind.
@@scottprelewicz6792 man I LOVE You don’t have to go. One of my favorite WOD songs.
Today's music is so unfortunate. But this is awesome.
I was about to give up on new music.I was so very wrong
The harmonies around the 4 minute mark give me goosebumps every time .
If you ask me the ending could have been extended for another 20 minutes 😁🥰
Yeah I think we need that
This is such an amazing live performance, almost indistinguishable from the studio version. Love this band!!!
I've been running from the white light
To try and get to you
Tell me everything that you need
I've been trying so hard
Ain't got no time to lose
Tell me anything that you'll need
To open the door
To a desperate man
Easily could run from the start
When you're falling
I've been driving on the west side again
And the rain keeps pouring down
Finally figured out my way
I've been living on the run 'cause I can't find
That thing that holds and binds us tight
I'm out here dying in the heat
Oh, what am I to find?
Yeah, when I open the door
To desperate men
Easily could run from the start
Sheltered and dead
I hear your call
Crawl inside and wait for the fall
Shelter in the doorway
From rising storms
Caution in the darkness
Where we have fallen
How can I replace, babe
What can't be lost?
I don't wanna change
I'll rise above it
There are so many ways
Our love could make it through
But it's so damn hard to make that change
Maybe I was born too late
For this lonely freedom fight
Maybe I was born in the wrong way
Maybe born on the wrong day
All I need is you to comfort me. Love you your music. I feel like am always running in the pouring rain. I sit and wait . Just to hear you. Have a wonderful life. You are awesome my friend ❤❤❤. Am reaching but I can't get to you. Tell me what you need. . 💖💫💖💫
Damnnnnn this song has grown on me.
I like the live version more than the studio one
Yeah I love the composition but there’s a lot of weird muddled lo-fi effects messing with the album mix - esp his vocals. I wish they’d kept his vocals cleaner on the whole album!
@@vervor I love THIS live version just the way it is (a reference to Billy Joel's song). Sorry, I misunderstood that your comment was actually about the album, not this live version. I don't want it Changed - at all!
Yeah cause the studio version was filtered through a fart
Fell in love with the guitar right from the start and after several listens and seeing the lyrics fell in love with all of it. I feel struggle and so much hope entwined in this. Amazing.
Aunt Sharon, you should be so very proud 👏 ❤
Who else thinks Charlie the drummer looks like if Animal from the Muppets became human?
Also, another amazing gem from TWOD, best band out there.
Love everything about the war on drugs ♥️ my favorite band of all time keep doing yall thang
Sameskis 🙌
The piano at the end.... ❤ ❤
Once again, exceptional musicianship. I discovered this band during the first lockdown in the UK. They are the real deal.
this is marvelous! what a song! can't wait the live event!
They are awesome live....LOUD....and tight. One of my favorite concerts.
Es ist unbeschreiblich, wie mich dieses Lied berührt! Danke, War on Drugs- ihr seid die beste Band, die ich je gehört hab! Und das sind immerhin schon 71 Jährchen...
Margret Baldus I'm 71 also and I so concur with you! This is the Best band I have ever heard. I don't listen to pop music anymore but I listen to this band everyday on repeat. I hear something new everytime I listen. I avidly wait for any new music to come out by them. Right now I'm waiting for the Season 3 Podcast to appear because I enjoy learning about each song and the stories behind the music. I also love hearing from all the members in the band and the crew!
@@ruthmannahan9240 Hello dear Ruth, thanks a lot for your answer! It's really incredible, this band inspires me for playing their songs on keyboard since 2 years now. I love it so much!! Greatings from Germany!
Thanks so much for responding to my comment!!! I don't play any instruments but I was a singer. I went to school early at least 3 times a week to practice with a chorale group starting in 4th grade. I loved singing so much. My mother was in a band in the late 1940's to 1951 when I was born. She sang and played the guitar. She passed away from breast cancer when I was 14. I miss her dearly, even after all the time that has passed. This band takes me back to my mother just by listening to their songs and music. I can't thank them enough. I wish I had learned to play piano when I was young. By the way, both my mother and father's families are German. They came over to America in the 1800's. I love speaking with you and I'm sure you play beautifully. You feel like a part of my family. Greetings from America!!
Dear Ruth, what touching words, thanks a lot! I am sorry that you lost your mum so early, can understand you, lost my Dad at the age of 52. Music is so helpful brings a lot of joy or comfort, what you need in right time. I have also experience with singing together , and the first keyboard I got when I was 30. Now there are 4 ....! Got the talent from my father and gave now to my son! ("Thank you for the music.../ ABBA ") And i believe, you have the talent too!!! Try it with a keybord, i suppose, piano I found too complicate , keyboard gives chills very, very soon😅
Greatings from the river Rhein!
Hello, Margret! I was just thinking about you and decided to check in with you! I hope that you and your family are well. I've just been listening to TWOD's music as I usually do. This band's music while having sad lyrics always makes me feel better. They seem to be a magical group of musicians! I now love Eliza Hardy Jones. She's such a good fit for this band with contributions both vocally& her ability to play different instruments. She has been playing the piano since she was 3. She comes from a musical family. At family get togethers, they would all play music together, each playing their favorite instruments. Hope you have a wonderful week!
This song gets me every time. Such a beautiful piece and brilliantly executed. One of my all time favorite bands.
So, so good! Leaves me with a lump in my throat and watery eyes hearing such beautifully performed music like this.
One of the lovelier outros in recent memory!
The atmosphere that TWOD achieves is simply magical🎸
I love piano outplay last 2 minutes very Bruce Hornsby vibe just brilliance from great band thanks
That bit where the backing vocals kick in at 4:10, paired with Robbie’s piano....just beautiful. What an amazing song....
Just Extraordinary, neverlasting song.
This song and this version is an absolute masterpiece. These guys crush it live like no other!
Fantastic band, fantastic album. It grows on every listen with little gems popping up in each song. I love the back end of ‘Change’ - the way it fades away with that lovely piano 🎹🎸🎤👏
I was flying home to see my grandmother before she passed away when I heard the outro. It was very difficult for me. Very pretty. Like her.
Granduciel is a sound alchemist
That is the truth truth
I keep getting back to this live version, because I just can't get over the piano mix int it. One of the most beautiful piano pieces I've ever heard. Tearing up every.single.time.
@Balint Szollar, OMG you know it! That piano gives me goosebumps at the outro and I love the way Adam steps back and let's Robbie shine! Just absolutely gorgeous! Gets me everytime! I can't wait to see you all in concert again for my 4th TWoD concert in NYC, and yes,
Adam we will wear our masks there - y'all are so worth it!
Herregud vilken låt, får gåshud varje gång jag lyssnar på den, så perfekt harmoniskt speciellt på slutet med piano solot
I love every tune you guys and gal ( shoutout to Miss Eliza) have released.☮️
...and when the second voice comes in, oh God, that’s so good!
My ears are made happy by this. 🥰
A true masterpiece!
Fav video on youtube rn. So good.
so glad they played the piano part on the outro vamp just like on the record! my favorite part of the song :)
I can't stop watching/listening to this…
IMO, this song perfectly captures the metaphorical idea of being trapped in the "storms of life". From the lyrics to the general tone of the song - it starts off "sunny" and ends on a dark note.
I absolutely love it.
Jeez Louise you guys are ridiculous. Hope God blesses you more and more with your talents. Next level sh!t indeed. Everyone so talented and those piano notes just kills everything that eva came before.
Ladies & gentleman
The war on drugs.
Just wow. I don't know even a record can sound this good
This is the stuff! See you in Leeds, UK!
Does anyone else just really get this band and this song?
Your music is always awsome, from the first album. Love from spain.
someone show this to Kimmels sound tech, this is how theyre suppose to sound live
This entire show was amazing, but this song (this version of the song) is so beautifully haunting.
I have no words...
Great music, I love you guys!
Can’t wait to see you in April, in Amsterdam!🥰
After living in the USA all my life, I may move to Europe. I’m hoping a War On Drugs concert in Europe will be my first concert in the EU. Keep on Rockin in the Free World!
Can't wait too😀 het word mijn 2e concert van deze fantastische band🙏

Sweet nostalgic❤
Absolutely insane work
What a song! Such a perfect band... God bless you guys!
Best regards, love and positive thoughts, from Greece.
Tight AF!
Backing vocals superb
Love the keys drone on the outro.
Listening to you I remember the good times, where the music was great ... Made of real musicians. I remembered how excited I was listening to good music, around, everywhere ... Thanks! 🍻❤🎸
