  • Francis Ngannou once held the record for the worlds hardest punch. But Alex Pereira came along and broke it. Now Eddie Hall, a worlds strongest man, he broke the record once again.

    "psi or something like that" Bruh it literally says it in the video: Human Force franklin(f)
    The "Franklin" (f) is a unit of measurement used to quantify human force or destructive capability, specifically in the context of measuring the power and energy within an impact. This unit is named after Kevin Franklin, associated with the company StrikeCoach, which developed the PowerKube-a device used to measure striking power in combat sports. The Franklin measures the power and energy of an impact, with the scale ranging from 150 (f) to 200,000 (f)
    StrikeResearch state they measure:
    “1. Power (which is speed related, so we refer to it as ‘speed power’), we chose to display it, in foot/pounds weight per second 7” and
    “2. Energy (which is the moving body weight, so we refer to it as ‘compressive energy’ because this characteristic gives a strike its penetrative capability). We chose to display the units as ‘calories X 10’.”
    To match the kinetic energy of a Ford Escort (1,804,640 J), Ngannou would need a 22 pound fist that he can throw at supersonic speeds (1300 mph; Mach 1.7).
    The PowerKube does not measure striking power in psi (pounds per square inch) because it uses a different set of units and methodologies specifically designed to assess the power and energy of strikes in combat sports.
    This unit is tailored to provide a more comprehensive assessment of the kinetic energy and power of a strike, which is more relevant in the context of martial arts and combat sports.
    The Franklin unit, used by the PowerKube, combines measurements of speed and energy to give a more holistic view of a strike's effectiveness. This approach is beneficial in sports performance analysis because it captures more dimensions of the strike than just the force distributed over an area, which is what psi measures
    The PowerKube's technology, including its sensors and proprietary algorithms, is designed to capture detailed data on the strike's power and energy, providing immediate feedback that is crucial for training and performance improvement in combat sports
    In summary, the PowerKube uses the Franklin unit instead of psi because it provides a more relevant and detailed measure of striking power for the specific needs of combat sports, where understanding the kinetic energy and overall power of strikes is more critical than just the pressure exerted

They use to have their own site and a "how it works" page, despite not having any research listed for how they measure this franklin unit (the total number these punches generate). Their site is now gone and a new company, PowerKube has taken its place, with the same "how it works" info on the franklin unit... again with no actual research or legitimate formula breakdown.
    In other words... its all inconsistent BS. This record breaking is all marketing hype, but if the machine has a new calibration to it, I wonder what Ngannou would measure on now on it? That might completely ruin their marketing lol.

    You cannot compare these "new" numbers to the old ones. Eddie was testing his punch almost 3 years ago and his best attempt was 113999. Now he almost doubled that. This machine clearly changed the scaling and therefore if we use Eddie as a benchmark we might assume that Francis today could get as much as 220-230k.

    • @thegreg9800
      @thegreg9800 Před 15 dny

      Yet scale was clearly changed. Therefore we cannot compare the old and new numbers, because we don't know how much it changed. I would assume, that Eddie don't punch much harder if at all.

      @@LCSILVA2706 I don't know where the idea is coming from. Eddie was always athletic and he always knew how to punch. Better technique might bring some benefits to someone with total lack of grasp, but it won't make your punches magically twice as powerful if you already had an idea.
