      You didn't realize that he use a visual trick to remember that? All the position look like a chess board. He don't need to remember all the numbers, just visualize pieces and a chess board. For me, it's more impressive to see him playing a whole chess game blindfolded than that.
      It's very very hard (probably impossible) for a human to remember all those number, that's why we use trick like that. It's the exact same in exams at school by remember the first letter of every important word, or the sentence to remember all the planets etc etc

      @@XxKidnoffxX visual trick probably isnt the best word for it, hes making an order of moves in his head, not necessarily seeing them, and it is never as easy as just visualizing. not to mention it isnt an 8x8 board like chess. id also assume blindfolded chess is different, as he has done that multiple times and most if not all chess games follow a pattern of playable moves allowing him to figure it out himself. although his experience has without a doubt helped him develop his brain for this kind of memorization

    • @XxKidnoffxX
      @XxKidnoffxX Před 2 lety

      @@dexorne9753 of course 'visual trick' is not the best word, i'm not even english... But by visualising a chess board, it's a lot more easy than all the numbers. For exemple, at work sometime I need to memorize 7 numbers. Everyone can of course, but I can memorize 3 or 4 x 7 numbers easy, because I just have to remember the picture of all the numbers and not all the numbers alone. It's just trick like a other to remember. I know I have a good visual memory, so I can use it. And it's the case for most of the people, but not everyone know it or use the 'Trick' correctly.
      Here, it's very similar to a 8x8 board and we clearly hear him imagine a whole game with the order of moves. It's a good trick for him and of course, I couldn't use that.

    Actually it isnt testing the photographic memory. Having a photographic memory describes the ability to remember many details of a situation at a glance. This ability is symbolized by the term "photographic", as it could be explained as if you were storing an image in your head. Engineering doesn't require memory at all. Engineering requires problem solving skills. Also it's different from the pattern recognition in chess. So if you're good at chess, it doesn't mean you're good at engineering. Engineering requires you to be proficient in Calculus 1 & 2, Discrete Mathematics, Probability and statistics (depending on your stream). For all of my engineering tests I have score 90+ without memorising a single word because I had practised problems once. Neuroscience shows eidetic memory doesn't exist, if you take the board away from a chess player he is as good as any normal person.
