Wait time is about 6-8 months in Finland. But that''s not even bad compared to Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5 with their 12+ month wait time. Great review! Volvos is definitely for people who appreciate a bit of luxury and a lot of practicality, safety and simplicity.

We ordered our XC40 electric in mid October and still waiting for delivery as we approach the end of April, I'm envious when you mentioned 10 days wait after making your order. I live in Australia.

Wondering about the safety rating?
I ordered one on Nov 9th and signed for it on Mar 10th so they do take some time to ship them from Europe. If they have your exact color and specs you can expect it in about 5 weeks though
I live in Sweden about 135 km from the factory in Gothenburg and I have to wait 6 month for my car. They apperantly don´t have the parts they need.
hmm i'm curious when the full sized xc90 will be electric only, I think there's a hybrid version - possibly in the next model?

Excellent review! Thank you for that! I am very keen to get my first EV and have chosen the XC 40 after careful consideration and your review was also of great help to me.
I like almost everything about this car - I've been driving a Volvo since 1993 (with a few cheats with the Audi ;) ) and I definitely like its classic Scandinavian design, much more than the lean design of most modern EVs.
And with us in Bulgaria it's like in Finland - half a year of waiting. But there was a time (1980) when you had to wait 3-5 years! Then they told us that socialism had won in our country. Now, this victory of socialism will probably be incomplete, but global. Just kidding, I hope. Oh, God forbid!
Let me just mention - every car with an automatic gearbox both in Europe and in the homeland of automatics has the same distribution of the directions of the gears. Illogical, but traditional. It is the same with motor boats. It would be revolutionary to change them as logic demands and surely the marketing department will not allow...
