Hey Kliks, i have to say that your old juggling vids inspired me to start juggling seriously back in high school. At first i would practice and just have fun with school board marker caps.. i would pick up three caps and throw them around.. later i took it seriously and practiced with tennis balls, and damn those were pain in the ass.. they are just too big and bounce off too far away upon collision.. but in college i watched your vids one more time and bought actual juggling balls. I mastered regular 3 ball cascade, i can do 4 ball "cascade" for about two minutes(i know its not a real cascade).. right now im trying to smooth out the 3 ball "mess" thing because it really is one of the best maneuvers. I can also juggle 5 balls but fore just a few seconds, its really hard.
And yes picking them up time after time is the only way, but learning it in just one hour is impossible! Took me a whole week of one hour a day just to juggle 3 balls for a longer period of time.
    Greetings from Serbia

It's called Audiosurf 2. Not everything translates perfectly of course, but the things about practicing daily, making progress every day, upping the difficulty, trying out new tricks, even the online leaderboard that disappeared and was replaced by communities that don't feel the same. They all have their parallels.

I started juggling like 3 weeks ago. Currently I can do 150+ with 3 balls cascade, 50+ with 2 balls left hand and 75+ right hand. I got motivated because I saw the video where you juggle in the mountains and that looked so freaking cool that I did promise my self to learn how to juggle (plus i thought this will be a good way to exercise in these quarantine days).
I injured my right elbow tendon yesterday (idk how, but it still hurts and I stopped practicing with it, which helped me to focus on the left hand and that's why I managed to hit 54 catches today with it) My next goals are to "master" the 2 balls juggling (100+ per hand) after which I will try hard the 4 balls pattern. Next I will learn some tricks with 3 balls, and after it I will try hard for the 5 ball pattern. My ultimate goal is to hit at least 100 catches with 5 balls and then go to the beautiful mountain near my city and record a video , where I will tell my story of how/why I started juggling (at this moment if the quarantine continues I will probably try at least to qualify for the 7 ball pattern). You are making awesome quality videos Philip i really enjoy most of them but my favorite one is the Operation Flashpoint Nostalgic Review, I re-watch it once every 5-6 months for the last 3-4 years (probably because it gives me the best nostalgic feelings) but anyway, I wish you to stay healthy and best of luck in these dark times. You will hear from me when I'm done with my juggling video (i guess in 3-4 months), I promise that I will send it to you (somehow). Greetings from Bulgaria.

    Alright listen here Phillip.
I started juggling 11 months ago after seeing this video.
I've been juggling sitting infront of my desk a lot, and I think it has been really helpful learning to juggle while sitting.
It has helped me learning to juggle using mostly my wrists since there is no room to move you arms while sitting in a gamer chair.
I'm now juggling 6 and 7 balls while sitting in my chair - though more air space is definetily needed.
I'm not recommending only juggling while sitting but don't be afraid to do so

I started juggling two years ago in thailand. I was in a small "hippy village" in the middle of nowhere. I stayed at a pretty cool hostel tripping on mushrooms when I saw a couple juggling. The pattern of the throws were so nice to look at and I asked them if they could teach me. I literally learned juggling while tripping and I practised for 3 hours straight. Still doing it to this day (juggling not tripping)

The night after I wrote this comment, I had a strange dream. I was in my bed, trying to get to sleep, and Philip burst through the door, spanish inquisition style. From each of his sleeves, he produced 8 juggling balls, and began impossibly juggling them all. He then walked out, and I followed him. We weren't in my house at all, we were in a huge castle, philled with pianos (excuse the pun). He then sat down at a piano, and played the dragonborn theme from skyrim, while still juggling, throwing up a ball inbetween each note. The dream ended there, but the fact that it was just a dream seems like 'a cop-out'.

Thank you for making this video. I've started to juggle the day you have posted it, but with 2 socks instead of 3. I think what you've forgot to mention is, that for a person not used to throwing balls between the hands, even 2-ball juggling can become quite difficult. 3 ball juggling was nearly impossible for me at the beginning, i couldnt even throw 2 balls in the air and catch them. But after enough practise with 2 balls, the transition to 3 balls felt really easy for me. What i've noticed is, that you need weight to your balls. Once i got my juggling balls in the mail, juggling became way easier to do. I'm currently working on my 3-ball tricks and enjoying the process a lot. So thank you again!

There's a trick to start: rythm. Punctuate each beat in your mind: find a decent slow and fast enough tempo, and quantizing helps (split each beat into 2 halves and assign throw/air/catch actions).

I never juggled, but I know what you mean with the satisfying feeling of progress. I'm a mountain biker and I really like to improve my riding technique, so manuals, bunny hops, endos, etc. It is so satisfying to see yourself progress with those skills and string all of them together. It's the smoothness of execution of these that makes me love to do it. Even when commuting I throw in obstacles try to be as stylish as possible, not to show of, but to get that experience of flowing from one feature to another seamlessly.

Your progression is really impressive. It took me nearly a year to master 5 balls as my brain would always overthink trying to flash 5 and I would constantly find myself freezing up and not being able to do it for long periods of time. But to this day I find it very exhausting even with lighter balls. I was never able to consistently learn the 4 ball mills mess. I've had really good runs and then other times where they just collide non stop. I do agree with the 3 ball mills mess though. There's a day where it just clicks and suddenly you are doing it. I actually felt like I wasn't even juggling when I first successfully was doing it. My sister to this day can't figure out how to make it flow and move smoothy. I have some runs with 6 balls but sadly I haven't juggled much since college a few years ago. The lack of having someone else to juggle with and everything just getting a lot harder to consistently improve quickly turned me off from the fun I originally had.
I missed the days of 3 balls where I was learning new tricks like every week for the first few months. I ended up winning my schools talent show. I also hate how my face looks when I juggle, I concentrate too much and I envy those who can be doing some of the hardest stuff and look completely normal like Jason Garfield. My favorite juggler by far is Wes Peden as he is just as much technical as artistic. He has put out several juggling videos over the years that are just amazing to watch. I was lucky enough to meet him in person a few years ago. My goal is to still one day juggle 7 balls and 5 clubs. I hope to get back into it again. But man your numbers are crazy good. Most people watching this have no idea how hard that really is.
That's the problem with juggling. Lamen tend to think tricks like eating an apple are harder than 5 club back crosses. They have no idea the years of dedication it takes to get to those points. You must have been naturally gifted to achieve what you did in such a short period of time. But I bet it took many long days as well.
