    I just ordered one for $169. I been doing Verizon prepaid for almost 13 years. $35 a month. I've owned many Moto devices. Had the 1st Moto G. The 3rd. Have the Moto G power 2021 now. They do everything I need it em do. I'm rough on a phone. As an electrician I'm always using it as a flashlight, banging it, dropping it. I've never broke a screen.
    I did drop one out of a scissor lift at about 12ft. It didn't crack the screen but it popped the back off and still worked. The speaker sounded funny so I replaced it. I'm looking forward to getting the wireless charging and NFC. I can afford a flagship device but have a budget set to meet future financial goals. Plus it would sting much more damaging a $1000+ device than it does one in this price range.

    I've got news for ya man, there ain't a damn thing wrong w/this phone! ONLY 1 operating system update is a GOOD THING! Everytime Motorola (...or anybody else either for that matter) wants to do a (so-called) "system update", it tends to phukk w/the entire set-up of the phone. I don't need to be RE-learning the damn phone every 6 months, or some such thing, everytime they supposedly wanna "update" stuff. Most "system updates" are bullshit in the first place. There's nothin' wrong w/the screen, and there's nothin' wrong w/the camera either. I think Motorola has everybody totally fooled. They've got an outstanding phone @ an outstanding price, and it seems to have everybody baffled.

      Same. I started buying them when the Z3 Play came out in 2018. What an awesome phone that was. Kinda broken-hearted that they canceled their Z line after such a short time, because they were absolutely awesome how you could buy the accessories that magnetically snap to the back of the phone.

    So I just picked up this phone for $50 via straight talk limited time promotion. I am in love! I have owned many budget phones and honestly this is one of the best so far. I require a phone for my job. It runs 5-7 apps all at the same time flawlessly. I'm crazy about the battery life because it gets me through a full day of heavy use then I recharge when I get home. Honestly, if you're not a mobile gamer and you don't necessarily need a super computer in your pocket, you like android, get this phone.

    Is the 2023 model worth it for $45 through my carrier?
    They look like normally they are around $120.
    Or should I get something used off ebay with better tech specs like a Pixel 7a? I'm actually coming from something very old so anything is an upgrade. Also, it doesn't look like the battery is replacable.

  • @DerekDudage
    @DerekDudage Před 25 dny +2

    I have this phone. I just got an upgrade from Cricket, paid $120. I have been using these phones since I took a gamble and got the first Moto G Power back in 2020. I am picky about my phones and I LOVE the Moto G Power series. The battery life is unbeatable, the ease of use features such as being able to flick your wrist twice to turn on the flashlight are wonderful!
    My FAVORITE thing about these phones is they are built EXCELLENTLY! You may not be getting fancy glass backing, thin bezels, etc. but these phones HOLD UP! I am notoriously hard on phones. Virtually every phone that I have had before moving to Moto got broken at one point or another. I have NEVER broken a Moto phone. These phones are also GREAT for people who use their phone a lot for work! Great performance when it comes to using multiple apps and plenty of storage as well!
    I did notice that the newer versions come with more bloatware than they used to (still less than most budget phones) but the bloatware apps can be easily deleted within 5 minutes. Motorola never fails to impress me with their new releases and I'll continue to be a Motorola customer as long as they keep cranking out good quality phones at an excellent price point!

    Hello techright, I was just curious as to if you have any suggestions for a smartphone that has a great camera, sd card and a headphone jack? I’ve been an iPhone user pretty much ever since my first smartphone and would like a change. Im tired of needing to constantly delete stuff or having to pay for iCloud space so an sd card slot seems like the best way to go and Motorola is a well known name but also seems like an underdog. They also seem to have cool little quirks and im not sure how well I’d adjust to using Samsung I feel like Motorola is just different enough and their set up seems user friendly. Anyway, any recommendations would be appreciated, (even if they aren’t Motorola.)

      @@marcsonnenberg623 I know, it's just incredibly impractical for the the moments that I need a headphone jack. I generally use bluetooth, but when I'm drumming for long sets, we'll sometimes play covers and I may need to quickly switch my in ear monitors into my phone to refer back to the original song for a quick few seconds before switching it back. So it needs to be quick, easy and accessible. Not an extra adapter to carry around.

    One update is OK 2 would be great. Security updates are good. Samsung pulled a fast one on the extended Android updates. Why? Because after one update almost all the A series phones slow down and lag. With second updates lagging is bad. One problem is the 4gb ram on the lower A series phones. Also the Samsung skin on Android is a weight on the system with the low ram and low internal storage on some of their phones. The biggest issue are the old and slow Mediatek processors. Like the 700 or just a rebranded processor.

      @@dscrive I ended up buying the Power it's been great so far but I did a factory reset on day 2 after realizing the battery was draining way faster than it should plus the haptic feedback wasn't working at all even when using hardware diagnostics in the Moto Device Help app, it said warranty repair might be needed but after a factory reset the battery is lasting even longer than my 2021 Stylus 5G (which also has good battery life) and haptic is working. Crickets version of the Power does have 8GB RAM / 128GB storage so pretty good deal IMO. As for the initial battery / haptic issue when I first setup the phone I used Googles account transfer feature where it copies over contacts / apps / device settings etc. with a USB cable connected between both phones (cable came with the Power) during this copy process the phone had a system update that was installing in the background so not sure if there was any conflicts there, after the factory reset I did the google transfer again but only chose to copy over my Contacts, music & sounds and not the old device settings etc which in hindsight not sure why you'd want this, it even duplicated my old lock screen settings, wallpaper, fonts etc. EDIT: Cricket is getting the 2024 Stylus 5G in the next few weeks too.

    This phone looks decent for what it is although I don’t think anyone should buy it unless you get it for free or heavily discounted. I believe the new 2024 Moto G Stylus 5g is being released at the end of this month(May 2024). It will retail for $399 and will have a 6.8 pOled display, dual speakers, wireless charging, a new magnetic stylus setup, and the snapdragon 6 gen 1. Although they should have updated the processor, the new Stylus is the one to buy. It’ll come in a beige/tan or a scarlet wave(red) color. The only downside on the new Stylus is it won’t have IP 67 or 68 ratings and will likely be IP 52 which is Motorola’s “splash proof” coating. Still, I think the G Stylus 5g 2024 or even the Motorola ThinkPhone would both be better than the G Power 24.

    If they can get this down to under 200$ it would make a nice beater phone. I dropped motorola after the moto g power 2020 when the next version got worse. Moved to samsung because they started promising 5 years of support and for the price you can't beat that. bought some smart tags for things I want to track now I'm in the samsung ecosystem. Low end motorolas make for good beater phones. I still use my G power 2020 as my bike phone on my handlebars for runkeeper. Moto needs to step up their game and give at least 2 timely major uppdates minimum.

    128 GB of storage should be the minimum amount that you should have for any 5G phone. On my Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 I have 256 GB and 6 gigabytes of RAM. Even with the exterior storage of 256 GB which was included with the phone.

    • @rzombie79
      @rzombie79 Před 14 dny

      You can get less storage 64GB and 3GB with the Moto g Play 2024 for $50 on most prepaid providers. Some people don't need a lot of storage. They use their phone for a phone and not a computer, gaming system and television.

      Wired headphones: Better sound at 1/10th the price, less weight in ear, more difficult to lose, cheaper entry point, doesn't have a non-replaceable battery, easier to waterproof, stays cooler without battery, less lag with video sync, more comfortable.
      Wireless headphones: No wire.
