Nerf Dog vs ChuckIt // What’s the Best Fetch Toy for Dogs

  • Testing two fetch toys for dogs to see which is the best ball launcher out there.
    To be honest, I was really underwhelmed by the Nerf Dog Blaster. I think my 6-year-old daughter can throw the tennis ball as far as the gun shoots it. Very disappointed.
    On the other hand, I love love love the CHUCKIT! dog fetch toy. This ball launcher sends the ball a good 50 to 75 yards every time. That is a great workout for an eager Labrador or Golden Retriever (or any other large dog that loves to retrieve). Here are all the links to my favorite places to buy the ChuckIt and the ULTRA balls that won't hurt your dog's teeth.

    Seriously, I think that every dog owner (especially large breed dogs) needs to have some kind of a fetch toy. Your arm simply cannot out last the dog's energy. I think the ChuckIt! is the best one out there. If you know of another one I should try, please leave me a comment below and tell me all about it.

    A great idea would be to use a tennis racket. I use those blue hand balls. They go farther, bounce more and don't soak up all the dog slobber.

      @mattfletchall5550 Před 3 lety +1

      But I think it's pretty cool to use a ball chucking gun, no doubt my dog would love anything that puts a ball out at a decent distance at a faster pace, but anything that gets my dog some exercise is cool in my opinion.

    • @ted1792
      @ted1792 Před 3 lety

      @@mattfletchall5550 I agree! Most people have no idea how much energy a dog has. A walk on a leash can't do much for a dog. My dogs are lucky enough to run free and get lots of exercise.

      thats actually a great idea. i can hit a tennis ball with a racquet way further than i can throw it.

      I've used a tennis racket a couple a time too. It''s a lot better then just throwing the ball with your hand.

    If you swing your arm and pull the trigger at the peak of the swing I find it shoots just as far as the chuckit

    • @eggyboi1217
      @eggyboi1217 Před 2 lety +1

      @@MollyDies the nerf gun should be held together by a few screws. If you take it apart there will either be a spring or a rubber band for tension. You would replace it with a stiffer spring of the same size or a stiffer band of the same size. If you disassemble it be sure to take pictures so you can put it back together correctly. I gave away this model before I got to open it up so I’m not sure what it has.
      (Edit: I saw a clear version online that has a large band running the length of the barrel at the top. One ending of the band is attached inside above the grip and the other end is attached to the sliding orange piece on the top of the barrel from the inside. I don’t see any screws in online pictures so you may need to pry it open gently.)

      Hey! Chuckit sells the glow ball to use with the thrower or you can buy a chuckit ball that beeps and helps the dog find it (its hard plastic so it has to be used in grass).

    Dog prefers the guns but they all break or jam. The slings seem kind of pointless when you can just throw them, you can probably get better momentum and range just carrying around a tennis racket and lobbing off tennis balls. 😝

  • @howyoodoon
    @howyoodoon Před 2 lety +1

    Wish I'd seen your video before shelling out the dough for that useless Nerf launcher. I'm on the Central Coast of California, with lots of off-leash dog beaches. The Chuckit has been a godsend to my 4-year-old Yellow Lab and me, and we do about 30 ocean Chuckit tosses a day. Only problem: I must be throwing it wrong, or I'm abusing muscles I haven't used in ages. I was intitially thrilled to find the Nerf launcher. I was sorely (literally) disappointed at the meager distance of the gun device. And party was over, once it got sand in it. The trigger froze solid. Major fail. It lasted one day.
    Do you know if is any kind of viable sling-shot type device that could fit the larger sized Chuckit ball? For ocean use, those blue and orange Chuckit balls are the gold standard. They seem virtually indestructible...and they float extremely well.

      @@DogFocusTraining with the regular old Chuckit! launcher, there's literally nothing that can go wrong, either. Unless you actually snap the thing in half, which would be difficult given the flexibility of it.
