I don't mind Police going to the parents, but these “nonsensical” cops would go to neighborhood and in the name of enquiry, they'll say all about case indirectly which inturn moves into gossips, blaming, accusing things to the girl (and/or family)...
It will be non liveable situation.

The cops will take bribes and waste time with “accused in large”...
I was pickpocketed and wallet was stolen and it had my id proofs and debit cards and cash. I went to the police station with a theft complaint and they gave me a good 30 mins lecture and shamed me on how stupid I am that I cannot take care of my stuff and sent me back with a complaint that said I lost my stuff and not a theft complaint. This happened in the trade fair in Delhi and I could not help but think that police gets their share by the end of the day from these pickpockets.
They also did the same with me when my phone got stolen from my pocket. And they said. How can you say it is stolen

Car value is more than phone so focus is on it . And for protection is 138 police man per 1 lakh people is like crazy ...

We understand that once it's stolen ...it's gone.. what I was expecting is if police knows that there are pickpockets in the area they should take action. Or don't take action but atleast take my complaint properly and don't shame me for getting my stuff stolen.

The problem is most people of the society are not open minded. Girls feeling scared of the fact that her parents or the society would find out about her relationship with a guy is what many police persons take advantage of. Nosy neighbours create rumours and spread it to the whole locality. Then the girl and her family would be shamed and blamed.

Police is the main culprit in India. It is often felt that we would have been much safer without these uniformed goons.

If we are simple, normal people-we pay tax, to hire police and other government personals which harass us. We pay to get harassed.
I think it's judiciary more than police. They have the ultimate power in our country and they are the one who are most corrupt. If they will do their job correctly then most of our country's problem will solve. And that includes ordering the police to do their job as well.
@@vikrraal We don't deal with judiciary on a daily basis. It is rare that we do so and even if we do, the red tapism is woven by the police. Further, the first respondent is police and for most of the matters they are the authority (in practice).
@@philosophy_Matters That's why I said if police are not doing their job then Judiciary can order them to do it. Simple!! Police will never try to contempt the court by not following the orders properly.
They have every power in the world in their feet.

Thank you so much. My sister is currently going through this. She never spoke or did anything sexual with him but being from a conservative family even saying I love you to a boy will cause trouble for her, especially because she's getting married to someone else now. Her ex sent her a threatening message telling her he'll expose their relationship. Although my sister firmly told him that she doesn't care what he does, I know she's anxious and I wanted to know if approaching the police is the right way or not. Our parents know about the guy and support my sister for breaking up with that asshole, but I'm scared the jerk will show up at her wedding. Especially since we have a lot of mutual friends.

if the woman makes a complaint to the police then it is fine that the police go to the woman's house, and it is natural that her parents will be informed about this(if she is living with her parents). because of the complaint the guy's life is going to be turned upside down, regardless of the fact if he is guilty or innocent. And his parents are definitely going to know of this, reputation gone, job gone, life gone. So according to me the parents of the girl finding about her relationship, or police coming to her home is extremely minor as compared to the consequences that the man is going to face regardless if he is guilty or innocent, if she files complaint.
it will be ridiculous if the woman files the complaint, after that she remains anonymous, no one ever finds out, police never visit home, she goes to police once or twice, goes to court once or twice, and guy's life ruined, family's life ruined, stuck in court for years. It is reasonable for complainant to also endure trouble if the accused is going to go through hell
Man will lose everything, job, status, even if he is falsely accused.
Only thing I would say is the police should make the complainant feel safe about lodging a complaint in that police station, whether the complainant is male or female.
The police get their salary from us taxpayers money for giving us no utiilty.

Amish, going by the understanding of the way of proceeding without the police as explained by you in this video, would a 'civil suit for injunction' work similarly well in cases of any kind of threatening in any other context different from the one of a man stalking/threatening a woman? Like cases where one person is threatened of assualt by another, etc (provided there is sufficient evidence)?
I knew this police doesn't help. My ex made my life hell but I didn't go to police.

@@garimaverma1632 I couldn't do anything, my life was hell , I was just waiting for something to happen good one day like waiting for the sunrise after a long dark night, that one day came after 6 years . In India to get your voice heard, either you need to have money power or men power, I didn't have both. Going to police would be waste of time and wasting my little money which I had that time , also my ex was influential where I didn't have anyone to stand with me.
I feel so bad for ppl like us. Why do stalkers abuse in India? People are psycho cases in India

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think neither Order XXXIX of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 nor Section 38 of the Specific Relief Act, 1963 would be applicable in such a case since they apply to properties (immovable or movable) and contractual obligations. Just a point that I wanted to mention.

It is not the complete answer, because the steps to be taken if the offender ignores the injunction is missing. I believe in this case one will have to go to the cops and inform about the court order with proof of the violation. The other option is to go to any organisation which supports such victims, like the women's commission or some NGOs, which then informs the police. But I will concede to the knowledge that comes from experience.
But sir ultimately the parents come to know and its a headache

Dear sir ours country is secular , we have right to choose & practice any relegion we want .
So why can't we choose provisions ,remidies or acts of other relegion if we want .
If our country is secular a person should also have right to use provision, privileged, remidies of other acts of other relegion too .
Hindus and others should be able to use other relegion provision remidies of Christian marriage act, mus-lim marriage act, intercaste provision and BENIFITS too .
Sir please shed some light on , if for violating Lockdown a section 188 IPC has been registered against a person, and as it is a bailable offence bail has been granted but as the case has been registered, will there be qny further complications for issuance of passport or visas as a criminal complaint has been registered. And as a case hass been registered magistrate calls the person and has been convicted by paying a fine will there be any further complications for passport and visa.
Agree sir, bt what if women is making false allegation , does size of guy determines the crime committed? There has been certain cases where court has handed over the victim to culprit's family back in name of rakhi ,shaddi or through some other excuses recently a case judgement was passed by SC , what if the guy had no false intention as the intention matters the most as a normal person if consider a hypothetical situation and modern law does consider the intentions , in case of Arun court is just roaming him around showing no solution no doubt he is TADA culprit if court has passed that judgement must be true I respect that at all grounds , bt his plea to meet his father was legit as a as human and he is being just could have been released on short parole , but no court SC diverting to HC and HC diverting to CM and CM back to SC I respect all the judgements passed by SC as the citizen of nation we all do respect and we are compelled bt if such hilarious judgements would be pass then nobody would rely on system for their solutions and their belief will get shattered please sir you being an honourable and renowned advct with good connections has the power to make change we believe you 🙂

@@AKASHSHARMA-ng4qx it was over a year ago when still in a relationship. Ofcourse it ended that very day. Violence and verbal abuse is what I faced. But I froze and was shocked to do anything about it at that time plus Lockdown was going on. Was in the middle of it.
