Great review! Yes, I agree with your assessment of your Number 1. I've only seen a few (3?) but only that one stands out as memorable to me.

That and the new prequel I would say are the only 2 worth watching! I can understand some people enjoying 2, but not for me. Thank you!

I haven't seen them in quite a while (aside from the new prequel), but I feel like I would rank them roughly the same as you did, though I am in general less critical than you seem to be and overall enjoy most of them to some degree. I am pleasantly surprised to see you rank the remake so highly when many people online seem to dismiss it as one of the worst things ever produced. For my money it's a very solid remake, well shot with a great cast, just perfectly solid. I believe one of the main reasons fot it being made was to take advantage of the 6 June 2006 release date (6-6-6).
Regarding the prequel, I find your comment regarding the ending interesting, as in creative writing you are often told to keep your endings open, not closed, but it seems you like it the other way around!
One piece of work that went unmentioned here is the short-lived 2016 TV series which serves as an alternate sequel to the original, ignoring the film sequels. And there are a couple of sequel novels which continue on from _The Final Conflict_ and are apparently quite entertaining (Damien's son is born "from behind" from the reporter he took "from behind" in the 3rd film). But another short-lived TV series I'd recommend is 2005's clearly _Omen_ influenced _Point Pleasant,_ which was sadly canceled after only 13 episodes, but at least they were aware of this after filming the tenth one so the last three suddenly rush to get to some sort of an ending.
In any case enjoyable ranking, and I appreciate that you seem to not spoil too much and go into the plot details of the films you're discussing, a pretty rare quality nowadays. Keep at it!

That makes sense re the remake! I didn't realise that. It definitely doesn't deserve the hate, it's a decent film. I just found myself wondering whilst watching it why they decided to make it. I probably sounded too harsh on Omen 2, just the fact it's reviewed so well and I look at a lot of horror (particularly modern horror) that receive huge amounts of criticism so wanted to make my point on that.
That's interesting, I mean I would agree with that for the original in which it's left fairly open ended. it just sat with me wrong in the prequel because it's specifically to tell the lead up to the events of the OG and to have that story running parallel didn't feel organic to me and more like an afterthought as a setup for potential sequels.
      Thank you for your comment!

THE EXORCIST done in the style of a documentry/diary I felt was far too arty for a horror type film, with too much symbolism like in an art house film, best for being atmospheric, & obviously frightening for ground breaking for it's effects at that time, it had the pond to itself

That’s interesting you say that, I enjoyed it I felt like it had a more sinister feel to it than The Omen which I liked. I do see what you’re saying but I found I got more into the story of the characters in the Exorcist

OMEN the awakening, you might not know was originally a made for American tv offering (hense the puny horror set pieces, they had the nerve in the Uk to put this out at the cinema only)
DAMIEN 3 basically a persuit film trying to stop an Evil entity before it's too late & that's about all we got, the weak tea ending was especially disappointing - he gets stabbed in the back & falls, no thunder bolts or slow motion dramatic music, as there was in the beginning.
OMEN 2 not bad a bit plodding, but again an anti climatic ending that felt VERY much set up for yet another sequel.
THE OMEN itself a VERY important film, about the nature of Evil & being marked for death, also a clever & unique film daring for it's time. THE FIRST OMEN I can't comment (i havent seen it & missed the boat like most modern films it got very little publicity, & a limited cinema run.

The first film was great I just definitely don’t think we needed the sequels, first omen is actually worth seeing if you like the original I think it complements the story well and is a genuinely well made horror movie

I would imagine they went down the route of ROSEMARY'S BABY with the 1st OMEN (conspiracy theory) BUT I'm still interested to see it,@@jackpetriereviews
