There's an endless list of reasons people fail to succeed on Amazon KDP. Just ask those who have failed, and they'll quickly tell you that it's not them; it's Amazon! Yes, that chestnut of an excuse! However, if you dig down a few layers, I'm sure I could expose some key reasons outside of a Print on Demand Platform (KDP) why people fail to succeed. Many want to lay the blame on everyone but themselves however, you must take accountability for your own actions and the decisions you make when Self-Publishing. If you don't tick all of the boxes below as a starting point, it's a good starting point on why you may have failed:
1. Low Competition but High Need Niche
2. High Quality Book Cover
3. Best use of keywords in your title and subtitle
4. Captivating and professional book cover
5. High-quality and detailed manuscript addressing the needs of your audience/ customers
6. Great description, grabbing the attention of a potential customer
7. A well-planned out launch, including a solid marketing plan
8. Great early reviews
9. Solid sales for the first 30 days 'plus'.
10. Effective use of Amazon Ads.

Yes, you can always learn through books however sometimes it's easier to follow along online via courses and apply the knowledege as you learn.

Hi Dan, yes, start with lower content books to get comformtable with the uploading process and runnings Ads before transitioning to High Content books.
These tips are great and the basic start from. However, in every niche, there are good and bad quality books in all in-between grades.
A low-quality content book in a niche can be a best seller though, and that is hard to explain.
