I cannot believe how gracious and polite he is. I’ve been around famous people and I can see just how endless the “wants of the crowd” can be, and I am always amazed at just how special a person has to be to deal with that day after day, with everything they do. When I think of the peak of humanity I see Bowie. What a truly gifted and special man he was.
He was always so sweet to his fans, and when he signed an autograph, he almost always wrote the year under his name so that the person would remember! Lol. I know I never would have forgotten it!
This man was a truly great artist in every sense of the word, he was intelligent, wise, poised, mild tempered, kind, handsome, unique, unabashedly himself, and on top of all of that a genuinely good person. It's a rarity that any one person can inhabit and embody all of these things so effortlessly, gracefully, all the while signing autographs with a smile on his face. We can only aspire to have even an ounce of the great qualities he had, but if everyone tried to be more like him I'm sure we would be on track to living in a much better world. Truly one of a kind.
Thank you for sharing this with us! What a sweet, kind man Bowie was. This recalls Dick Cavet’s story about his elevator ride with Jack Benny prior to Cavet becoming very famous. From the top floor of some tall skyscraper they stopped at nearly every floor on their way to the lobby, and on each stop new strangers greeted Benny with huge enthusiasm, hugs, edgy familiarity, etc. When they were finally in Benny’s car and on the freeway Cavet asked him how he was able to greet each stranger with unfailing courtesy, acting as though he was hearing every compliment for the first time. And Benny said, “You just have to remember that while they’re strangers to you, you’re family to them and they genuinely love you. Their love made you what you are, so you love them in return even though sometimes you just want to tell them to go fuck themselves.”
This keeps popping up on my CZcams but can't complain because there is one thing you can say about David Bowie is he is so friendly and also very polite as well as being a great entertainer and a writer of fab songs and very good at musical arrangements and has a lovely wife and family and is a very funny chap and a bit of a fashion icon.
I love it! When Bowie died, I cried precisely because of this, that it was never going to happen to have an autograph from him or to meet him live! Bowie forever
If I met Bowie like that I wouldn't know what to say to him. I've been a fan all my life and he's been a big influence on me. I would want him to know how much he means to be but to say all that woyuld be really uncool.
Dave has signed his last autograph, but my godness, what a life he had! Considered by many to be as big an influence on music, in the UK, as the Beatles.
Definitely not a star that believes his universe is too good for common folk! Looks like a kind, gracious and down to earth man! A down to earth star! How cool! I almost hope for his own sake he wasn't always this accessible. Even after announcing, "OK thanks folks- I've got to go" when asked for yet more autographs and more photos he doesn't hesitate to smile and accommodate his ceaseless droves.
Remember meeting through GREAT MAN in Copenhagen at the start of reality tour. I had a cup of coffee and said "Here Dave. Can you hold this while a get my pen out" And being the gentlemen he is, he did 😀😁😂 I got caught in the rafters of the venue filming afterwards so only got the first 6-7 songs. Good times.
@@Tanaferry Hi, of course I don't mean personally. Thank you for the footage, it's just that the camera was all over the place, up, down, left and right, shaking a lot. RIP David
He must have had to add a couple hours travel time every time he went somewhere in public. What a sweetheart.

What a gentleman, breaks my heart that that soul has left this earth. The world is dimmer without him.
His 'soul' did not leave the earth....his soul is 'everywhere' !

THANK You for the upload!
I would faint if I had ever met him.
I'm a HUGE Bowie fan but in all these years I have never realized he's a south-paw.
Same!
Neither did I
the clue was in 'He played it left hand but made it too far'
& played guitar right handed.

Rock god turns up to dreary Southampton. He avoided flying if he could.
I lived near Southampton in my teens, and Yes, it's dreary and so are the people, but Portsmouth is far worse.

Il n'y a personne sur Terre que j''aurais dérangé pour un autographe ou un selfie, hormis David Bowie.
I saw the guy counting money, how much was an autograph?
@theresa The guy counting the money is his bodyguard, Erik Hausch.

Why was the camera focused on their feet? Lol
Sorting out things to get signed. Can’t do 2 things at once ha ha
Lol, sorry petal. Isn’t this my footage? Cheeky
What my camera. We both filmed. Cheeky ?
@@Tanaferry ooh many apologies sir, I bow down to your better memory and beg forgiveness on my knees.
Should not sign for grown men. They sell them.
Not ALL grown men do. They can be fans as well!
How did all these fans know he’d be there? 😮
We are friends and we share our knowledge with our friends. and some of us didn`t have to much of a problem getting to the location.
