Traxxas Trx4 clicking issue fixed. Gearbox? Motor and mount?

  • So I had the dreaded click! like so many others I took the motor out and yes the click was still there. So the gearbox has had the once over. You'll find all information in the video. Sorry about the intro but it has to be said for future reference.

      Dam dude a month old, I wonder if they anticipated the breaking in period. the body makes the entire car sound loud as well. However this has been a great improvement for that clickety click. Thanks for the comment and support

      I don't think any model company offers a fix for the click, I honestly haven't seen such an item yet. It's simple enough dude if you get stuck give is a shout.

      @@mehimrc1314 I think, Traxxas is a little bit better than AXIAL. I think... I have an Axial SCX III Gladiator... Click! Click! Click! Sounds from the Gearbox, Portals... (the spare-parts lists from Axial... terrible... many Numbers are not korrekt a.s.o.) But: "Shit happens"! 😎 Pull the Trigger and shoot that Thing up the Hill! Bashing befor Crawling! What ever you can hear, it is still working! Is there Nothing to hear, is it broken... 😉 I try to fix it whith shims, like you do... Or put somthing in my ears. 😉

      Cheers dude I had to figure this one out, diesel noise but no sound box haha something wasnt right. Now I'm a happy crawler, well sort of only the motor mount to figure out next.

      @@mehimrc1314 I have the Carisma F150 and I'm torn on going brushless with it, I love the truck but it needs a bit more speed between obstacles.

      @@robsrcinsanity1220 i thought crawling was meant to be slow haha. But I get you dude bit more speed doesnt hurt. I think I'd run this in sport mode if I go brushless, Crawl/trail mode would probably strip my portale axle if I stop hard.

      @@robsrcinsanity1220 it doesn't do over 15mph wow I see your point. The trx4 does like 20mph at least, swap the motor out for a 15T the trx has a 21T stock.

    Hey m8 inno its been a year but i was wondering if i can use also the stock traxxas ones 5x8x0.5 ?bc i can find any in the right size🙈

      0.5 on the thickness might be too much, that's why I always suggest 0.1 or 0.2mm thickness so you can still have free movement. I only added one 0.5 mm shim the rest are 0.1mm
      Sorry I can't suggest anything more.

    What are the exact measurements for all the shims you used? I'm going to do this as I don't want that diesel sound.

      @@mehimrc1314 yeah I realized that now! I'll get me pause finger and pen at the ready! What do you think the benefit of this shimming is? Bar noise reduction, will it extend the life of the gearbox/ transmission?

      @@martinchristopher80 don't know about extending the gearbox life But it definitely gets that diesel noise out the way.

      @@martinchristopher80 I honestly never thought of it like that. It's the clicking at low rpm that done my head in. But I totally understand your point, why pay £30 when the noise is there epic.

      eBay has been my go to place, I find most shims and bearing I need.

      I used to types of shims 5×10×0.1mm thick added the link.
      The other are the same size but 0.5mm thick can't find that link sorry mate. But just buy 0.1 and add as many as you need. Hope this helps 👍
