God of War - How Atreus Will Cause Ragnarok // Loki Brings End Times

- Here is a collection of all the scenes I think show how Atreus with Kratos has caused Ragnarok to begin:
(From Reddit helpers) The signs of Ragnarok in Norse mythology order. Baldr's death, 3 endless winters with no summer called "Fimbulwinter". The two wolves in the sky swallowing the sun and the moon, the stars will go dark. The 3 roosters crow. Heimdall will blow his horn, the final sign.
The World Serpent in our time is from the future after his battle with Thor (this world Serpent could also be Kratos!?! Some very compelling theories suggest this). In the lore, The World Serpent remembers Loki which suggest they are related in someway like in the actual Norse Mythology.
Fimbulwinter has come, thanks to Baldur's death the question now is how will Skoll and Hati come to be? Perhaps that is who the wolves are walking beside Loki on the mural? Perhaps, Santa Monica is setting up Fenrir instead, as Brok and Sindri have already cuffed him up? WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

Here is a collection of all the scenes I think show how Atreus (Loki) with Kratos has caused Ragnarok to begin A THEORY;

I am not looking forward to Atreus changing from a cool kid to a sneaky trickster that I will have conflicted feelings about.
Video Game Sophistry the Kratos being the serpent "theory" made me laugh
I think this theory holds weight, although I do have one question: in the mural in Jotunheim, who was the third wolf with Atreus/Loki?
i dont Belive on theory that kratos is the world serpant as far as i know kratos is the key to ragnarok not loki
Good theory, but if you remember those wolves are Oden's pets now . So the only way to start raggnerok.Would be to stop time with venir magic. V. I all so think Kratos will die .But of course he won't stay dead. And the boy will stay with the world serpent,Or Surt for some years .
Kratos: Destroys the Greek world and kills almost all of the gods
Atreus: _My turn_
@jeffery cody True probably
@jeffery cody my man has become old, you know how brutally he kills his enemies like popping their eyes out of socket, I want that kratos back
@@factsandmyths3301 dont worry fam he'll came back from hell 2×
I read "My Turn" in Gru's voice lmfao
Might be true but i think Kratos might stop it
Kratos to Thor : "I have been zapped by thunder more furious than yours, boy."
Indeed. I don't even get why people are expecting Kratos to die at the hands of Thor. The wall painting is merely showing him as he dies in Atreus' arms. For all we know, he will simply sacrifice his life for Atreus'. Nonetheless, Kratos defeated a God far stronger than any of the Norse Gods. As you put it, Thor is a mere BOI compared to Zeus.
PierrotBolnezify if thor killed kratos it wouldnt make sense because he killed zues...with his hands
Incog2k6 thor is much stronger the zeus thor is an actual warrior while the only battle zeus fought was against the titans
calvin Suleaudu Here's a little comparison, aesir fights giants, olympians fight titans, titans are few times bigger than giants (albeit minus giants crafting skills), chronos is bigger than average titans, so the summary is....and let's not forget that thor and the rest of aesir rarely fight frontal war, and they are often pick on giants one by one, kill a lonely stranded giant, or resorting to underhanded means.
PierrotBolnezify Norse gods are more like warrior gods most of the olympians are not take zeus for example he fought a war against the titans and thats it. Most of the time his just chilling and sleeping around whereas norse god like thor fight giants and monsters on a daily basis and they also had a large war against the vanir. They also train and gather knowledge in peperation for ragnarock.
If Atreus is the cause for Ragnarok then it’s almost a resemblance to Kratos opening Pandora’s box when he was in Greece.
Yeah but Pandora's box is a punishment for the us and ragnarøk is how the world ends, almost every god gots killed and the new beginning of the world
@@JBD915 Not really the end of humanity, just made humanity's lives worse. Ragnarok was really a series of events that would lead to the death of most powerful and notable gods
Yeah but at least they had the power of hope that kratos give then in gow 3
Loki is the cause of Ragnarok by he's two sons and daughter which is The Wolf, The World Serpent and Hella. When Mimir said what The World Serpent said in Snake Language, how he knew the boy and how The World Serpent clashed with Thor and got sent back in time before he's own birth, that just gave us all a hint that it's Loki Son and on the wall with him walking with The Wolves just gave us another hint about The Wolf. Kratos seen that he is going to die, but since he seen that, he might change something or just die and than Ragnarok will be caused if Kratos dies.

Kratos- That is madness

That's exactly why he knows IT IS MADNESS.
@@Iberny3 madness ? No, THIS IS SPARTA
Kratos probably couldn't believe Thor is actually that powerful, for a blow from the God of Thunder could shake the world tree(which exists outside of time and space) given it's recieved by someone resilient enough to produce a great clash. It's unlikely that Kratos meant time travel is madness, just wouldn't make sense, but this is a cool little detail letting us know Thor is gonna be one bad mofo in the next few games. Also I think Kratos will fully take The World Serpents place during Ragnarok in fighting against Thor and the snake will be used more tactically or to take on someone else, the Eitr imbued Leviathan Axe will be what ends Thor rather than Jormungandr himself, and yeah Kratos will probably die during the fight, because they are hyping up Thor to just be way too powerful for Kratos to kill.

What if he goes to Valhalla???
Knights of the Nine I think there’s a VERY good chance Kratos would be accepted into Valhalla, if not being personally escorted into Valhalla by Sigrun. Given the selfless service he did for the Valkyries, and how Sigrun spoke to him, he and his son are now held in very high esteem among the Valkyries
I think Kratos is gonna sacrifice himself 2 free Atreus/Loki from the chains Odin will bound him in...And then Ragnarok will follow

There is truth to his words.
Didn't he think fate couldn't be changed at that point? Cant remember clearly, I thought he think he couldn't change fate (which usually is true) until he went and killed the Fates
More specifically the sisters of fate.
The sisters are controlling the fate of everybody even kratos.. They are unable to stop because kratos change his own fate not because the sisters allowed it
Pepsi Boy42 they couldn't actually control his fate because I'm sure they did not make it fate to have him go and kill them. Nor could they stop him although they were the controllers of fate. Overall this shows us Kratos has a problem with prophecy and staying dead.
I was watching a play through of this and at the big reveal that Atreus was Loki, I immediately thought back to when Jormungandr said "the boy looked familiar," and thought to myself, "Well of course he looks familiar, you'd think you'd recognize your own father."

In Norse mythology, at Ragnarok, Loki would then be captured and be chained to three rocks, with a venomous snake dropping venom from above. Loki's wife, Sigyn, uses a bowl to capture the venom to help with the burden before, eventually they are both able to break from the snake and chains.
I am positive, that venomous snake is the snake we see in the prophecy with Kratos and Atreus. Atreus is being poisoned and Kratos is either, sheltering Atreus from the poison as much as he can or sacrifices himself for his son so that he doesn't die(I'd bet on the first one).
Atreus(Loki) will escape, with or without Kratos, and bring the end to the Norse Gods like his father did to the Greek Gods. Like father like son.
Edit: Loki was chained before Ragnarok and his release started Ragnarok.
Thanks for the insight
King Blase so... Spinoff?

Omg I just realized that in Norse Mythology, Loki’s mother was a giant but she was specifically a FROST giant and the game represents this by having her have a FROST axe, omg the signs were there this whole timeeeeee
Just look at most of the runic attacks. A lot of them reference the frost giants in the same way that the blades of chaos attacks reference a lot of greek mythology

I think maybe Odin has prevented Raganrok countless times
But this time it is different. Not because Ragnarok is supposed to happen. Because this Ragnarok happens with Loki being the son of the God of War.
Maybe Faye foresaw a possibility of Loki being something greater than just a trickster if he was Kratos’s son.
A Trickster and a Warrior.
And I believe Faye truly loved Kratos. Because she found his spirit to be wounded beyond redemption after his quest for vengeance. And maybe being a loving father, dying in the arms of his beloved son will change everything how he perceives himself to be.
Or maybe they are just fucking with us. Maybe we will se the old Kratos return whence it is not Kratos who dies in the arms of his son but the opposite.
Whatever be the fate, Kratos is the unprecedented element the allfather never saw coming. The unpredictable God of Fucking War.

Yes
That is some borderline Star Wars shit. I love it!
That’s just Norse mythology stuff, dreams are treated as signs by most people. I’d imagine being half giant and god would allow him to see the actual future as dreams though lol

-Kratos, God of War (2018)
Well, he used the fate itself to travel in time, but he never did so just by fighting someone.

MisterTbone thats a good ass point lmao and the funny thing is that Cory barlog was the director of God of War 2
i think Kratos is referring to the 'way' Jormungadr traveled is madness, not the idea of time travel itself. I mean having powers to traverse through time is one thing but getting hit so hard you go back in time?...You have to admit that sounds a bit insane even for the Gods.
that's fair, but it's also like saying a helicopter is the only way to fly because you've never heard of an airplane. It's still silly to me how he can be so closed-minded considering all the new shit he's constantly experiencing.
MisterTbone its because that if you get hit so hard, you normally wake up a few years later, paralyzed and in a hospital bed. Not wake up in the past (unless youre dead)

I could totally see them doing though a middle sequel in Egypt or in Celtic myth. How Kratos met Fae.
Notice; They said SEVERAL YEARS LATER, when the cut came around.
They could very well do other shit BEFORE Kratos dies.
And if Kratos dies, it can be executed well.
Shit, they already took a concept people abhorred, the concept of a little kid being by your side constantly, and managed to make it fine, even when the public surrounding god of war were screaming "NOOOOOO"
Kookachulu Let’s hope it’s not like the last of us 2.
I disagree. As a new fan, I’d probably play games without Kratos, like for example with Atreus/Loki being the main character. Why else would they revive the series if they weren’t doing it to make spin offs?

I feel like everyone is missing this whole cycle theme that is reoccurring during the story. Everything from the World Serpent being shoved back in time and appearing over and over, the mural of Sutr describing how he's both in the past and present causing Ragnorok, there are all all these examples of the end of the world happening not once, not twice, but over and over and over. Maybe when Kratos kills Baldur and claims like his father "The cycle end's here", it has a deeper meaning to it. Atreus and all the gods/giants will play their role, but maybe Kratos will do something that causes Ragnorok for the last time, I mean he already has by bringing Fibulewinter early.
Even mimir says it himself while going back to their home, faith didn't count on Kratos to appear and kill Baldur causing the long long winter to appear, he CHANGED something already.
@@farenhaid13421 that's what I don't get. He said prophecy didn't count on Kratos. But clearly, the giants' prophecy saw everything (up until that point anyway) since all the things that happened to them were on the giants' wall
@@Norbingel No the prophecy counted on Atreus/Loki, Kratos says it himself, this is HIS story after all. Remember, giants can technically see the future and is not weird to believe this works for members of their kind, so they could know about Atreus but Kratos which is from a different pantheon entirely acted like a random event. Is like saying "We know that Loki will be born, we just don't know how or when yet"
Basically, Norse mythology had its own prophecies but if a god from a different religion comes and alters it, it becomes something unexpected. Makes sense, the prophecy knew Loki would exist as well as Ragnarok, Kratos is just an unexpected event that forced Ragnarok to start earlier. Mimir says it himself "You changed something" after killing Baldur, this was not what THEIR prophecy said, because this is completely unexpected.
@@farenhaid13421 clearly they saw Kratos too since not only was he in the tapestry, everything else in the tapestry was due to his choices. It's not just a matter of "we know Loki will be born but not the details" since they evidently knew in detail what would happen to him. It seems to me the only thing they didn't know was Kratos' effect on the timing of Ragnarok or, depending on how it turns out, how he'll affect it's outcome.
@@Norbingel Of course, after all, he already affected it by killing Balur, plus in the norse mythology he IS killed by a mistletoe. And if it wasn't for Kratos fixing the quiver with that exact thing Baldur would have never become vulnerable. They might know of him for just being his father after all. rosure7 yes that’s going to be Atreus/Loki’s biggest advantage he’s going to have over pretty much all the gods him and kratos are going to be facing from here on out. True, but he gained that power through a long journey. It’s not the power itself that surprises him,, it’s the method.

Loki bears witness to kratos dying by Thor's hand and Loki starts Ragnorok as vengeance for his father's death
I think it’s more likely that Thor manages to kidnap Atreus while Kratos is injured or distracted. Then takes Atreus to Asgard, Odin then puts a curse/brainwashes/tinkers with his memories over many years, making Atreus belive Odin is his father as per the mythology. While this is happening, Kratos desperately tries to find a way into Asgard searching for many years, because he hasn’t got the traveling rune. Finally one day, grown up Atreus (Now called Loki) goes searching for Kratos, because Odin has told him a lie that Kratos is the last of the Giants & must be killed/captured. So Loki kills Kratos & with Kratos’s dying breath, Odins curse on Loki’s mind lifts, Loki’s now realizing he has killed his own father. This is the moment we see painted om the wall in Jotunheim. The hole here though, is that fimbulwinter is supposed to last three years & Thor probably shows up at Kratos and Atreus’s home maybe 2 years after Baldur was killed. Then again, Mimir said that Kratos killing Baldur, changed something, so fimbulwinter started early. Perhaps in kidnaping Atreus, Thor changes something too, ending the winter & delayes Ragnarok back to it’s original prophecy time. About 100 years. They’re gods, so they won’t die anytime soon of old age. Plus we know time travel is possible, so who knows. Just a little theory for y’all. Cheers!

You are the only youtuber that I seen so far showed the last part of the mural with Atreus walking with the wolves. I seen that too when I beat the game. I ask about that and many say they didn't see it. Glad you posted scenes and stories of the game so we can see them again.
I think those wolves might be skol and hati
I was thinking that too. it also a 3rd wolf so maybe his son Fenrir
Skoll, Hati and Fenrir; All companions of Atreus?
You know what I think? It ties in to how the wolves catch their prey! *Loki tells one of them to reverse direction! And then both of them go the opposite way when the other has been consumed*
In Norse mythology when Loki gets caught after causing baldurs death. Odin makes sure that he gets caught and poisoned by a snake over his head. The crazy part was when his 2 sons were made to kill each other. One of his sons was turned into a wolf in order for him to maul the other brother to death. They then used the dead brothers entrails to tie Loki up. Loki’s wife had a plate to catch the poison although Loki would feel it every time she went to empty the plate. What if kratos dies protecting Loki from the poison in the game?
Kratos didn’t even bother moving, he truly doesn’t fear anything 😂
Atreus: Johny Johny,
Jörmungandr: Yes father.
The last mural I think portrays the birth of the World Serpent... I mean it would be a little odd to include Loki parenting a goddess of death, a giant snake, and a wolf in the traditional way (Speaking of Hel I was interested why we didn't get mention of her during our stay in Helheim, and now the ending points us to why). So it's clearly going to be by some Giant magic that results in the birth of Loki's children. Also it appears that Mjolnir is lodged in the head of Kratos, furthering the reasoning that Jormungandr is a natural enemy to Thor... He is literally the incarnation of Loki's vengeance against Thor.
Also the panel with Atreus with the three wolves is interesting. The first thing that came to mind was Skoll, Hati, and Fenrir but I wouldn't have any clue.
yes i agree in all
I refuse to believe that Thor can beat Kratos
William Wykoff Kratos can easily change his fate and Kratos is stronger than Thor if baldur can knock out the serpent (and we know that the serpent fought Thor and didn’t lose ) that means Kratos has to be stronger than Thor
@@MakaveliDior Thor punched Jormangdur so hard it basically yeeted him backwards through time. Sooo I dunno whether you want to call it "winning" from the front of the World Serpent , but it sure as hell looks like he was in for a pretty nasty ass whoopin' by the God of Thunder.

DJ Beynon if he does he will be unbelievably powerful
The blade of olympus is junk, it stabbed Athena, Zeus and Kratos twice and none of them stayed dead. At this point i'm pretty sure that it can only kill titans.
good observation although zeus was the kind of the gods lad, kratos at that point had killed all the gods and death as well, which in itself made him incredibly strong, and athena was " raised to a higher existence "(was raised to plot convenience that makes no sense) ,so unless kratoses enemies sacrifice themselves,i am sure the blade is very useful.
Giovanni Culmone the blade of Olympus holds all of Kratos original god powers that he had when he was the God Of War

If what mimir has said is true about odin trying to influence the outcome of ragnarok little by little. I think he is succeding.
In the real norse mythology there are only two people who will survive ragnarok and they are magni and modi. Now that they are killed by atreus and kratos. The outcome may be now different
Dunno where you got that from, but the two survivors are a man and a woman, an Adam and Eve kind of deal.

When Kratos is in Hel and Mimir warns about how he shouldn’t go into the inner city of Hel a couple times, it could be a foreshadowing of his next climb out of the underworld. Because if he sacrifices himself that means he did not die in “glorious combat” so he can’t go to Valhalla unless he uses the Valkyries’ get out of Hel free card and goes to Asgard anyway
My Jaw Dropped when Atreus said "Loki"
One of the signs ragnarok begins is when Loki (Atreus) kills Baldur,Kratos May have technically killed Baldur, but it was the mistletoe from Loki’s quiver that made Baldur killable, so in a way, he was the cause for his death, plus I mean he did fight with Kratos and did a lot of damage in the fight
Christian Mullins loki never directly killed baldur In norse mythology it was baldurs blind cousin that shot him with a mistletoe
I mean kratos is the one who out the mistle toe there in the first place

I wanted to point something out in this video: I have seen the ending to this game (more times than I care to admit out loud), and I find it weird that when the picture of Kratos dying is shown, he acknowledges that he and his son are near the end of their journey (meaning he will be passing the torch to him). The thing about this scene that gets me is his tone; it as if he knows that this time death is gonna get and keep him, and he is accepting it. This scene makes me think that the next game may very well be it for Kratos; he will die for keeps and pass the torch (possibly the axe) to Atreus/Loki and leave it to him to destroy Odin.
Jeremy Woodruff dont forget the gods in japanese and egypt, our boy, atreus will follow his father path
David Lopez i hope i can telepath to you, i want to answer your answer, but i just can't put it into words
I don't think so, Kratos has changed fate before, and when he claims "nothing that is written cannot be unwritten" he IS speaking from experience, so I regard the walls as null for now. In the pre-order bonus comic that comes with the game, Kratos says "in the end, the rage always triumphs" referring to his own rage that he has so much trouble mastering, which seems to foreshadow his rage winning him over again.

Well it is called Ragnarok so it should all end within one game, if they can squeeze enough content into it which I know they will
"Remind me to tell you about the Wolves" I can't wait to see Fenrir.
Barely a minute in and I love this scene, it perfectly represents the complexity and hubris of Gods. They have the power or resources to predict terrible future events and yet instead of waiting and preparing for that time may come the way a mortal would relying on hope, they rely on power and try and prevent what may happen and in doing so end up causing it. Classic story of destiny in Greek Mythology, "Your son will kill you. Then I'll kill him first," he fails and spawns a hateful vengeance that one day leads to his death.
One of those stories concerning a grandson ended up being fulfilled totally on accident. Dude beaned the old guy in the head with a discus.

Whats to say that when Kratos dies he goes to a Norse afterlife? He's a greek god, but in Scandinavia. I figure thats worth noting.
Year late comment but for real though Im a bit ignorant of Norse mythology and some of the game content...What actually happens to a being like him when he dies in another land/world/universe. Not only is he a God he is not a "local" so would any of the options for the dead even BE available to him? We dont actually know the relationships this world even has with Kratos old one nor what powers he has retained that would apply even after his bodily death. Even if options were available to him if Kratos got sent anywhere after death that pissed him off I could totally see him just slaughtering his way back to life and destroying whatever realm they sent him to if he didnt like it. It would be incredibly easy to justify additional powers and the inability to die in lore.
To further your note it would also, now that im thinking about it, be possible to have Kratos die and as a result of another destroyed pantheon due to Ragnarok end up in the afterlife of another pantheon like the Egyptions, Indian, Chinese, Aztec, or even a more modern approach with Abrahamic religions. Could be because of "wandering soul" or just another pantheon/world took over their job. Either way it seems like they could easily bring Kratos back if they wanted to. He is a big time money making character so I doubt they could just replace him. Btw I think it would be SICK if they made a God of War in the Crusades. Imagine a storyline with Kratos getting involved with war between humans backed by Gods and Angels of different but similar faiths.
