If you are looking to lease a house or an apartment. Leasing starts at $1800/month for a well used one bedroom. You would be hard pressed to find a 'Newer' one bedroom for under $2400/month plus HOA fees and insurance. Sounds reasonable? Take into account commute costs (gas, bridge tolls, etc). House leases can start at $3K no matter what condition the house is in or where it is located.

Con: You didn't mention the godawful heat in the summer. It's not as bad as Phoenix or Las Vegas, but the Central Valley can be brutally hot.

We moved to Vacaville 16 years ago. Rich does give a great overview of Vacaville. He is a realtor. BUT... Heat can be stifling during the summer with sometimes days without air movement. If you don't like the heat don't move to Vacaville. Housing pricing starts at over $625K for a decent home with bidding wars. The only homes under $600K are flippers or shacks if you can find them. Crime rates are low because the police force is extremely well trained, responsive and don't put up with teen-age nonsense. My understanding is applicant must have at least 5 years experience just to apply. Vacaville is also is a gun friendly town with two indoor firing ranges. Note: the state medical facility houses the those who have mental problems. Electrified fence surrounds it. All in all Vacaville is a nice place to live. Vacaville tends to be of the conservative mind set. It would be difficult to find a residential area without American flags flying. Vacaville proudly celebrates and recognizes our military and country. People mind their own business and they expect you to do the same.

@@amandeep994 ... Vacaville is very safe overall. Pretty much anywhere in the city should fit your safety needs. Numerous areas to rent a 1 bdrm apt. Most are going to be relatively close to Hwy 80. Places on the south end of Vacaville tend to be newer than on the north end.

These are facts and findings about living in Vacaville/ Solano County. Take note of these facts and findings. Read carefully.
Advocates have long maintained that Solano County Family Court mishandles Domestic Violence cases too consistently to be mere coincidence. This pattern of judicial mismanagement has repeatedly compromised the safety of victims, leading to severe injuries, gross negligence, child abuse, and even murder / manslaughter.
It's worth noting that, in the past, Solano County obtained federal grants from the DOJ Office on Violence Against Women, while often routinely and predictably denying restraining orders in cases with concurrent custody proceedings.
In our history of advocacy, we have seen Solano County Judges leverage DVROs and Family Code 3044 to manipulate outcomes of custody cases also involving allegations of domestic violence.
The Judicial Council of California published the disposition rates of court cases by type, by County. The purpose of this report was to measure the impact, if any, the pandemic had on the Courts' caseload and efficacy. This report measures how long it takes the Court to "resolve" a case - from filing to clearance.
The state average clearance rate for Domestic Violence cases was 73% in 2019 and 76% during the pandemic (March 2020 to June 2022).
Solano County's clearance rate for Domestic Violence cases, during this reporting period, is only 3%. This is the lowest rate, of any Superior Court, in entire state of California.
This disparity indisputably demonstrates that Solano County has a systemic problem with handling Domestic Violence cases. Advocates call for intervention and oversight from the Judicial Council and State Auditor.
We encourage you to share this information, forward this email, and post to social media (if you can, and if you feel safe doing so). Judges are able to evade scrutiny because these rulings rarely receive any Judicial oversight. If you live in Solano County now and are aware or experienced police misconduct and Solano County local government misconduct submit your complaints to the Solano County Civil Grand Jury's office. The Civil Grand Jury is a watchdog organization that investigates police and county government misconduct. Then the civil grand jury writes, and publishes a public report about it. That is how parasite corrupt people working in law enforcement and the county government are held accountable, terminated, not re-elected and sued for lots of money$$$$$$
