    He seemed genuinely concerned from the start, when he was asking "are you okay? Please tell me" He sounded actually worried about her. He seems like one of the really good officers and this is devastating to hear him after the fact.

      Absolutely , he's one of those that went in law enforcement for the right reason and my heart hurts for him and this lady . I have no idea what her story was but officers get killed all the time just walking up to a car after pulling someone over and in so many other situations .I know they r trained but that doesn't change and make them less then human , I can't imagine what its like to always be afraid for your life and to never know what they might face on a daily basis. People talk a lot of hate and I do when it's a dirty cop r one that can't admit when they're wrong but this officer is a good man , one that isn't ok after shooting someone , I don't know how they handle it , no matter the circumstances, poor Guy. I hope he's ok and stays on the job , Lord knows We need officers with compassion and caring like this one.

    20 years ago I was going through DV and I was at the end of my rope. I was hopeless and had lost my will to live. So I grabbed a knife to protect myself. My abuser called the police because I managed to stab him. I still had the knife when they showed up. At that moment I thought that suicide by cop was going to end my suffering so I charged the officer. He used rubber bullets to dispatch me. I was taken to the hospital and I was blessed to receive all the help available for victims of DV.
    I was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon but later dropped and my record was expunged a year later.

      It is not easy to go through abuse and dv! I’m just happy you’re okay! I went through 14 years of such, as a man. Aggresion is just not my thing! Filed for divorce and suddenly had to go through 3 years of death threats and extortions! I became really distrustful of women and could never imagine being in another relationship. I didn’t see the need to remain alive, going through depression with suicidal thoughts! The only thing that kept me positive was my kids. Each time I get ideas to end it all, I’d look at my kids. I realised that if not for any other thing, just for them I must stay alive. There’s always a reason for one to keep going, there’s always a purpose for one to want to get to the other side of a painful journey!

      @humanmerelybeing1966 Před rokem

      @@samuelpancake4084I worked at a restaurant in my 20s and one of my managers left for and returned from a tour in Iraq. When he got back, he started bragging about killing people, describing the situations in rather vivid detail while laughing about it. Keep in mind we had several 16-year-old kids working there who had to listen to these stories. Some of them were pretty intense, and one of them is burned into my memory due to the rather gruesome details he shared about the bodies of some men he'd killed.
      He was an overall one of those people obsessed with authority who mistreated everyone beneath him and came across a bit sociopathic at times. On the other hand, he was also in his early-20s when he started his tour and (in my opinion) too young to really understand why the US military was even in Iraq, aside from the post-9/11 propaganda we'd all been fed. So I'm honestly not sure if talking about things so nonchalantly or braggingly was his way of coping, à la gallows humor, or if he genuinely thought he'd done the right thing or that his enemies deserved what he'd done to them. Or maybe a bit of both.

      I can't imagine that. It's hard for regular folks to even conceive of a job that includes the possibility of having to kill another human.
      I have a friend who fought in Afghanistan. He was put in prison for refusing to go back? Something like that, I didn't totally understand what it was. Some kind of desertion but I'm not sure the technical charge. He never talks about it but on a long drive once I asked him how it was over there and why he was charged by the military. He said (take it for what it is, I have no idea if this is true but he isn't a bullshitter for as long as I've known him. Very serious person), that he was at a roadblock and a car was coming towards them that wouldn't stop, wouldn't respond to their directive to stop and he opened fire. When they got up t the car it was kids that he'd killed, teenagers I guess. Again, he didn't go into detail and I didn't press him but he refused to keep fighting after that is the story he gave me. He didn't breakdown and he didn't glory in it or brag. He seemed ashamed but resigned to what had happened. I'm probably not getting all that correct.
      He just seemed like a regular family guy in our small town but quiet, a bit down all the time.

      @t-and-p Před rokem +8

      @mattosborne1366 I served in Afghan, too (I'm British). What your friend went through was not uncommon over there.
      A common tactic of the Taliban was to recruit poor kids (often orphans), give them love and the feeling of family to earn their complete trust and loyalty, then use them as discardable weapons. Sometimes they'd have a suicide vest strapped on, other times they'd have them drive at patrols or checkpoints. The Taliban knew it would either portray Westerners as evil for shooting a child (making it a good propaganda/recruitment tool) or that it would mess up the soldiers, because the last thing anyone wanted to do was harm a child.
      So your friend sounds legit to me and is far from alone in that experience. If it would help him, maybe gently recommend that he talks to other veterans or gets in touch with some of the organisations providing support to veterans with PTSD. If he feels let down by the US military and wants to avoid them, an alternative would be to look at the groups supporting other militaries around the world - because any country involved in Afghanistan went through this.
      I have a friend who was helped a lot by talking to others who had been through it. He had to shoot a young child in the late 2000s and it changed him. Completely. This child had a suicide vest strapped on him and was running into a packed marketplace that also had Western soldiers nearby on patrol. Stopping the child saved at least 100 people (local Afghanis and allied soldiers) from being killed or seriously injured. He made the right call, but it's easy to see why he struggled with it. The real monsters were the people who strapped explosives to a child and then sent that child to commit both suicide and utter carnage. It's taken him a long time to even start to understand that because he's a good dude. These things affect good people.
      Please let your friend know that there are many of us out here who understand. He's not alone in this and help and support are out there if he wants them 👍

    I lost my friend 6 years ago today to 5uicide. I hate this situation for everyone involved. I pray for this officer and that he gets help quickly. I found my friend, which was added trauma. I can’t imagine the trauma of this situation. I see ALL trauma so differently now. I will say it makes me angry that people do this to officers. Go out of this world by your own hand. Don’t take others with you or have someone else do it for you.. To see or find a dead person who died a violent looking death is forever life changing. It doesn’t ever go away.

    Happy you and Michael are back together doing your collaborative content magic.
    Bless this officers heart. The raw emotion in his voice after the shooting proves he is grief striken by what he had to do. He also sounded genuinely concerned about her leading up to the incident. I hope he gets whatever help he needs to deal with what happened and move past it. ❤

    Being a cop and going from calm to almost having to use deadly really comes this quick. Being military police we got all kinds of people who you never think would do something so crazy. Especially on base overseas. We were conducting a DUI check point and it was next to this bowling alley. Dude was driving towards us but it looked like he was parking at first. We also had a car coming from the opposite direction. In a split second this other dude in the bowling alley came at us speeding and we tried to flag him down to stop but he was on us so fast. He jumped the curb almost striking us. He took off blew several red lights and was driving about 75 mph in a 25mph zone. Dude ended up recking out basically trying to kill himself. He was hammered and later blew like a .225. Once he wrecked we pulled out our guns and ordered him out of the car. We were about 25ft away and could smell the odor of alcohol. Had there not been a guard rail there he possibly would have killed himself with there being a 15ft drop off. Never did I think this would happen overseas involving another military dude. When he means spilt second decision he means it. Using the right amount of force to stop the threat. Whether it’s non lethal or deadly force. The force necessary to stop the threat. Cops never shoot to kill only to stop the initial threat from continuing their action.

    I worked in Law Enforcement for just a little more than a year after retiring as a flight nurse. I went from being a welcome professional on the scene (as a flight nurse) to being very hated as a LE officer. I ended up being involved in a situation where my partner and I were ambushed. After fatally wounding the individual who ambushed us, I realized that I had gone from saving lives to quite the opposite. After this incident I resigned and went back to school. I have the utmost respect for those who do this job. I was not cut out for law enforcement. I know very many good men and women who dedicate their lives to this profession. In my eyes, it’s one of the most difficult jobs in this country. Aside from a few bad apples (the few you hear about on the news - a true minority) these men and women should be commended for what they do. Y’all have a blessed day!

    In the area where I live a street over the sheriff's deputies were responding to a case is infant SID or "crib death", this just wrecked one deputy, I ran into him when he was leaving the area and he asked if he could interact with my dogs saying he's had a really rough case. One of my dogs was a service dogs and she ran over to him and started licking his face, my other pup climbed onto his lap, both were large dogs. I'm glad I could get his mind off his day.

    Awwww I felt so bad for this cop. You could tell he was a kind hearted man who really didn’t want to do this. Him crying and talking to the Jess girl made me want to cry. You could tell by the time he got to her he didn’t know what to do and just wanted to comfort her and break down himself. He was really just freaking out. Understandably. His adrenaline was definitely high as hell then crashing. Poor guy. I hope he’s okay now and the lady’s family is okay too. Ughhhhh

    Lovin' the beard, Mr. Rivers! It give you a very trustable appearance and one of strength and safety. Your unwavering, universal compassion and confidence rings out authentic and loudly, as usual. I seldom feel bad for a cop, but this one certainly tried everything else first. He DID NOT want to shoot this lady.

    I dont think the officer was aggressive when he was asking if the people in the other car were ok...he probably just realized that a bullet had hit the windshield and that potentially they might have a 2nd victim and he may have killed another person...so his stress was already at 2000% and then probably went over 9000% when he saw that

    • @gamerslockerslife4444
      @gamerslockerslife4444 Před rokem

      he made a huge mistake backing up and opening them to the line of fire. he had body armor and once she reached he shoulda shot her. you know life if the person in the car was black.

    • @FYAjibber000
      @FYAjibber000 Před rokem

      @gamerslockerslife4444 you're wrong. First of all his decision to move towards the back of the vehicle is part of his training, it gives him better cover and 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time there won't be someone in the forward direction. So it wasn't a decision he made, it was his training kicking in.
      2ndly, man oh man if I had a nickel for every time someone played the "if they were black" card...woo I'd be one wealthy bastard. But no, just because the media reports on every single police interaction that leads to the death of a person of color doesn't mean it happens a lot. There are damn near a million cops in the US, each doing numerous interactions with people of color every single day. If your argument of "if they were black" held water it would be a daily bloodbath, particularly in the cities and neighborhoods with large PoC population density areas. This isn't, and has never been the case.

I wish him the best in recovering from this. I feel bad for the lady's family, too. They probably didn't imagine that she wouldn't come home that day.
