Hint 1-Much easier to adjust if rear wheel is lifted off the ground. Hint 2- pg 254 of the manual says Static Sag 12mm, Riding Sag 34mm. Preload should be adjusted to get close to these numbers, not for adjusting seat height. Lots of videos online about setting sag. Hint 3 - if not set right, handling is affected. If set low/soft, and you are heavy, the back of the bike will sit too low and the shocker will be in the hard part of its stroke. So you get a harsh ride and slower steering. Hint 4-if you are about 75kg with riding gear on, leave on setting 3.
Actually i've watched your review twice and this dog really got my attention. And i've also watched your other reviews on "how to" on an adv 390. For someone like who is planning to buy, what you shared were priceless. Btw i also own a ktm duke 200....and a dog that does not howl. 😀😀Thanks so much for sharing. Ride safe!
The upper cuff sets the preload, which can lower and raise your seat a bit, and help with handling pot holes and what-not. But if you want to soften your suspension, the flat head screw on the bottom, hidden by the frame is where you want to adjust. My rear suspension came installed backwards from the factory, so the frame was blocking the lower adjustment screw. Turned it around, and I was good to go.
Hi bro, unfortunately, we do not get the front adjustable shocks here in India. Do look up more videos on how this can be done, I am sure you should be able to find it!
Hi Manish, unfortunately there isn't any noticeable difference in the saddle height of the bike! However, even if you can tip toe the bike and are slightly experienced, you should be able to manage the bike! Here's a video for inspiration - czcams.com/video/zYp1zXyc0fA/video.html . Dont worry too much about the bike height!
Doesn't move when I use the tool. I want to set it to Max Payload - 10 clicks... not really sure which way it has to turn. May need to take another look at it! How hard did you have to pull?
great explanation ... I have a question 2U, is under the seat the accessories plug for M+S LEGOS 4 alarm system, as they are in the other KTM models? Or could you show us which plugs are available?
Thanks brother! I am not sure about the alarm system as I have not used it, but I did use an accessory that let you use your indicator switch for hazard lights as well. Will see if I can upload a video about the different plugs that are available on this bike, will do it soon! Cheers 🍻

Hey Peter, so I finally for some time to open up the rear, unfortunately there is no such plug in the rear, you can see the video with the details here - czcams.com/video/oH4piy7X7IM/video.html I'll be opening the front tomorrow to check if the same is there in the front! Hope this helps!
Patience is the key brother, do not worry, your bike will be delivered as soon as all this is over! Look at the bright side, I got delivery 2 days before the lock down and since then I have not been able to ride, the bike is in front of my eyes, but I am not able to take it out! Imagine the pain! 😭
I'm a little disturbed by this video that explains how to turn and change the preload on the rear wheel but with no proper explanation of why it's important, what do gain from the right adjustment that is adjusted to you and why, when and how it should be done. Anyone can play with knobs but do you really know what they're good for?
generally stiffer suspension for off road, softer for more comfort on road. Think of a dirt bikes suspension and how much it takes to get travel, then think of a road bike that easily moves. It's not a hard concept but you come throwing attitude around for no reason. Google it, it's covered in unbelievable detail. The video is only to show how you can adjust it, because the adjustments will be different for every rider and every riding type.
My bad that I didn't explain why and when the pre-load needs to be adjusted. This video was more focused on the change, if any, in the height of the bike when changing the pre-load as that seems to be one burning question that a lot of people here in India are asking. This is primarily because of the 855mm seat height which seems to be on the taller side for most of us in India.
Hey Akshay, I have not had the opportunity to ride on the highway properly yet, but I only find the rear suspension a little stiff, that too only when riding solo, don't find it hard when riding with a pillion. But a lot of friends are telling me that the rear does get soft as we keep riding more... Hope this helps

How did you figure out that stage 3 is best for a 75 kilo rider? Did you test that yourself or found it in the manual?
Interesting content, and thanks for the english speaking, not only in the tittle =) Subscribed
Thanks for the Sub!
Very informative. Thank you. The dog is great!

Love your reviews including the howling dog.😀😃

Unfortunately, we in India do not get adjustable suspension so we only have the pre-load adjustment :(
Yeah, the Duke 390 has the same suspension. We can only adjust preload.
Thanks.
So which is softer setup? Getting down to 2 or going up?
Down, as standart suspension is 3 clicks, and full load is 10
@@valerakarpenko8079 which one we use if we are having a pillion
Thanks man 👍
No problem brother!
Wish to what rider weight to adjust to which notch...? 😊 Tq 🙏
How do you adjust the front forks ( rebound & compression)

Hi bro, any idea how to open the forks?
Hi bro, the forks needs to be opened from the top, however, from my chats with the SVC, the spanner for the same has still not reached my SVC!
I had booked the KTM 390 ADV for my birthday ie 21st march... But due to Lockdown I didn't got the delivery :/

You never adjusted anything, the wrench slipped off just like it does for me. This video was useless
