    • @shanerothery
      @shanerothery Před 6 lety +60

      Sruti Praba It's for cast iron; you wipe off the excess oil, as the video shows, and the remaining oil is left to soak into the pot or pan, which is what keeps it in good, non-stick condition.

    • @jennyreed3331
      @jennyreed3331 Před 6 lety +24

      Most cast iron skillets you've just gotta wash with hot water. If you use soap to clean, you'll strip the pan of its seasoning & it can also cause rust.

    To clean greasy dishes with no soap use warm/hot water and add some wood ashes. Give it a minute to dissolve and you get 100% eco-friendly alkaline cleaning solution.
    Works like soap and even better. Use a bunch of hard grass to make a disposable cleaning sponge.
    Tested by hundreds of years of practical use :-)
    In critical situation ashes properly diluted in water and filtered through cloth+fine sand could be used for hair and body washing.
    White clay can be used as a hand washing soap.

      @@sherlxck-221b9 no, they don't, that's the problem. Age appropriate sex ed should be taught from very young. Ignorance is what causes unwanted pregnancies. In states where sex ed is illegal, there are MORE teen pregnancies. And unfortunately that's a lot of states. The most sex education I EVER got in school was in my honors biology class when we reviewed the reproductive system.

    You can also use soot from a campfire as soap

    • @beth8775
      @beth8775 Před 6 lety +1

      Spotty Sprocky Be careful with that one. You're basically making lye.

    • @beth8775
      @beth8775 Před 6 lety +1

      Spotty Sprocky Lye is an extremely caustic base(think drano); if you let the solution sit you will burn the hell out of your skin. It is used in making soap. The old school way of making lye was to soak wood ash in water. If you have only just mixed them and you don't have sensitive skin, it could be ok. But I would not recommend trying it with a child.
