The really give Flitwick his moment to shine here. Not only does he initiate the shield, he's also the one right on the bridge, right at the front to confront trolls and dementors. Small man, giant heart.
it wasn't mentioned in movies but durring his school years he was The master of the duels
He’s even more poweful in the books. He alone casted the enchantments.
He killed a few Death Eaters, one of them being Dolohov, who killed Molly's brothers.
also bro took down DOLOHOV, the guy who defeated moody in the 5th and killed lupin
Fillius killed antonin dolohov
“A true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”

She still have that childish streak on her.
She passed away you know?
@@eduardoargueta5074 No she isn't dead. U are talking about another badass granny from GOT.
I'm so happy that after all the deaths in Harry Potter, McGonagall isn't one of them 🙂
Yes, I'd cry myself for days if that ever happen
That's because death is afraid to approach our Minerva, our queen..
okay no joke if McGonagall died I'd be crying for like a week straight
She’s like my fave, i’d cry if she died
It's nobody would attack her, unless they had a death wish
"I've always wanted to use that spell"- That muttered excitement of Prof. McGonagall while saying those words and the childish blush that followed was such a adorable moment. It was like a kid finally getting his hands on a Christmas present that was wrapped for years.
And the side eye from Molly like "yeah I am sure you enjoyed that"
If you’ve got a humdinger like that in your pocket? Wouldn’t you?
... and yet we dont get it in HL? So sad XD We get Bombarda Maxima, wich is used to DESTROY WALLS FFS! but not a spell letting us animate unanimate objects, or in this case an entire army of guards? Thou yea i agree, Quiditch is more important now XD
she is like a child getting a candy , so cute and such a nice way to show it
@@christianresel8051 Yeah I always play summoner so I wish I can summon minions in Hogwart Legacy. It could be a spell to turn object into a monster and fight for you(which kind of monster will depend on the size of the object), It could be pet we captured and now we can release them to fight. Too bad the closest thing to a minion in HL is Imperio.
By the way, we do "get" this army in Hogwart Legacy but they are enemies protecting the trial and we have to destroy them
the fact that in the book fitwick was the only one casting the spells to put the shield over Hogwarts is amazing because it shows just how powerful he is because he's half goblin and a dueling champion apparently
Yea. Especiel when you see ONLY the most powerfull, aka the order of Phönix, pulling that spell around the perimeter. Mcgonagle isnt doing it because their more powerfull for that particular spell OR she was worn out. She did face Snape prior to that AND needed her power to cast Pietotum Locomotor, wich considering how large that army is is no small feat.

The spell used to shield Hogwarts was a combination of multiple instances of Protego Maxima (the Shield Charm), Fianto Duri (the Durability Charm), and Repello Inimicum (unknown, but possibly the Repelling Charm) layered atop one another.
Protego Maxima was already a nearly impenetreble version of the Shield Charm, and when bolstered by the effects of Durability and Repelling, should have been able to withstand any magical and almost all non-magical attacks known to the Wizarding World.
In fact it seems likely that Voldemort was forced to invent an entirely new spell through sheer force of will alone, and compel the Elder Wand to cast it, which is what cracked and nearly destroyed it while casting.

I think the cgi was pretty good in most of the harry potter movies... but god that werewolf scenes haunts me to this day with how genuinely terrible the scene was and it still made it to production...
Yeah, it helps if a scene is in darkness aswell, as it hides some errors, but I agree that the werewolf scene were flawed.
Obviously. They use magic
"I've always wanted to use that spell" What I love about that line is that it's funny, but it doesn't take away from the seriousness of the situation
I always thought the scene where the goblin professor walking in the middle to cast the spell was so powerful. It literally showed how despite being small he was on equal level with all other professors the robe flowing also made him look badass
Imagine how the teachers felt seeing their students died in front of them😢, realizing they failed to protecting them😭😭😭
Well, I don't blame them. Big part of protecting students is to teach them to defend themselves to their best ability. Given that Snape was in charge, Deatheaters must have interfeared with classes and activities, what teachers will teach and what not. And I think Defence Against Dark Arts was terminated class and all activities related to that subject forbidden. Take the year when Dolores Umbridge was in charge(Order of The Phoenix) as an example.
@@marchlander1 yeah defense against the dark arts was replaced with dark arts according to the books. They taught the students dark magic such as the unforgivable curses. Among other dark spells.
Great motivation to then fight and win the battle, I'd think but also heartbreakingly sad.
Hogwarts students fought well though, to think that all their Defense of The Dark Arts teachers somehow always ended up missing, losing memories, mental breakdown, crazy, dead, etc. Not to mention the witch Karen (Umbridge), lmao, who basically didn't teach them anything but ministry propaganda and brainwash. Beside, you can't compare Death Eaters with wizard students, even Aurors having hard times facing Death Eaters. The book describe the battle of Hogwarts way more epic. Hogwarts ghosts are so underated. (Edit: Professor McGonnagal is badass, Professor Flitwick too, but this is Voldemort)

0:22 The moment when you stop letting fear keep you from doing something as simple as speaking a name, a terrifying name though it may be.
The Sorting Hat was right to make Mcgonagall a Gryffindor.
That little glance from Molly!
😂
Maggie Smith has two of my favorite lines in this movie! “As I recall, he has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics” and “I’ve always wanted to do that spell!” Just the way she says the second line is great!
"I can make it happen."
"That's the spirit, now go.."
Again, it was the way it was said
My favorite of hers is; is that.. is that a student!!?? (From Gof)
... and also "Have a biscuit, Potter"
My favourite is" something you'd like to say dear?" " Oh there are several things I would like to say"
"They are supposed to be out of bed you blithering idiot"
"Hogwarts is threatened. Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!"
This scene always brings tears to my eyes. Love McGonagall! And the whole battle scene is very well-crafted.
I love how she got all giddy when admitting to wanting to use that spell.
Its amazing how she was fighting cancer while filming.
Goosebumps
This was the moment when I realized that Hogwarts is not just a school, a fancy castle. Hogwarts is a stronghold of ancient magic. And even Voldemort should think twice about attacking it.
Did anyone see Slughorn's reaction in the background when she used that spell to make the statues move? I laughed a bit XD
RIP Hagrid. Wand's up to you😢
I love Minerva McGonagall, she was probably my favorite professor. This part is one of my favorite scenes that have her in it.
What I love is that the overlooked housewife, Molly Weasley is right next to all of the badass professors being a badass herself
Molly is part of the Order of the Phoenix, and she's been in a world at war for the past three years. She's an overlooked housewife. She's also a powerful witch who's been working hard to prepare for that moment.
@@Cailus3542 She’s not officially part of the Order but she and Bill are affiliated since they were blood traitors
@@enriquepowers She is in the order. She gets to attend all the meetings and stuff
If Voldemort's right hand was Belletrix, Harry's right hand was his future mother-in-law Molly Weasley.
Remember Izumi Kurtis from Fullmetal Alchemist? You cannot simply grasp what a housewife is capable of.
When the soldiers appeared and the professors all starting to say the Latin protective spells, it send so much pride and love down my spine
I don’t care what anyone says, Harry Potter is the best thing that happened in our childhood and lives in general
The lockdown made me watch the movie n read the books with my daughter.....the best thing to happen n introduce me to the World of Potter n Wizardry
I mean maybe in your Childhood
I mean maybe in your Childhood
I like Star Wars better, but Harry Potter is pretty good too.
And somehow my eyes go watery everytime at that moment ,don't know if it's normal.
I think this is the most epic and moving scene of the whole series
Excellent actress mcgonagall
That scene, where the head of griffendor, ravenclaw and the head of slytherin, work together to protrect the school is wonderful
A true reference of the three harmonious founders taking their essences in Molly(Godric), Rowena(Flitwick), and even a hybrid with Slughorn(Helga & Salazar) in order to shield Hogwarts
And in thr books professor Sprout is next to McGonagall, and she uses all kinds of plants to blind, deafen and delay the enemy as well if I remember correctly
Professor Sprout (Hufflepuff) was there as well. In the books, she raids her greenhouses for dangerous plants to throw at the Death Eaters.
@@kevinmencer3782 Plants
vs Death Eaters.
@@olympus4628 Doesnt Sybill drop crystal balls on people in the books
Dame Maggie Smith is such a badass in all characters she has taken.
She is a real queen and nobody change my mind. This woman is fantastic!
Next, she can easily play the British queen, she would be perfect for that post, too! 😎
I remember reading somewhere that Maggie was battling cancer during production of this movie. If that's true then she's even more of a badass to not let cancer stop her from doing such an epic job!
"And his name is Voldemort!"
Such a powerful, underrated line! The moment when the fear of the legend was finally broken and he was reduced to being just a man.
McGonagall just spat out two of the best quotes in the series back to back. Gotta give her credit.
Also, I too would always have wanted to use that spell
“He has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics!” Her accent is so freaking cool!!
British
@@kdohertygizbur Scottish as well
Translation: "that boy has been blowing things up since he first came here."
Don’t forget her amazing availing of alliterations! 😄
That's world class alliteration.
"And his name is Volemort!" It just brings the first book and the gathering at Privet Drive when Dumbledore found Minerva spying on Dursleys. It was the first time we have hear Voldemort's name being uttered. And we know how McGonagall didn't feel comfortable using it.
And then comes this scene... She knows the enemy, she knows what must be done. She is in full Headmistress mode, a valiant woman who will do what must be done to protect those that are given to her. In many ways, more than Snape or Dumbledore, McGonagall is an epitome of a perfect teacher. I truly wish we had seen Voldemort dueling her, Kingsley and Slughorn.
Ooooohhh that would have been BADASS!!!
Especially Slughorn, vindicating himself with that fight.
Just her vs Voldermort. I know it should follow the book but Minerva vs Voldermort is more than enough.
@@vuanhachoi2409 As much as I love the character of McGonagall: No it's not. Having Slughorn there was at least as important. Troughout book 6 he is portrayed as someone far from a hero and at the end of book 7 he fights the most dangerous dark wizard of all time alongside two people who where always portrayed as brave, powerful and strong.
I KNOW! And the spell of the statues brings me back to the giant magic chess she created to protect the Philosopher's stone! It's basically the same strategy and I loved it.
Perfect second-in-command. Drafted anyone willing (even students) to fight. Badass
After Professor McGonigal, said she always wanted to do the spell that brought the stone golems to life. Molly Weasley looked as if to say ‘Yeah Right’ 😂
This is one of my favourite scenes in the film
At least, Prof McGonnagall casts "Piertotum Locomotor" *CALMLY*
HARRYDIDJAPUTYANAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIYA
@@ThePureawesomness have to admit, when I saw that scene, I had to go and re-read the book, thinking I missed out on something ~ xD xD xD
Dumbledore asked "cAlmLY"
Well, she didn't put her name in the Goblet of Fire, did she?
she would have it molly put her name in the goblet of fire
