How to Complete W-8BEN Form Amazon Associates 2024

This is an updated tutorial on How to Complete the W-8BEN Form as an Amazon Associate. In a previous tutorial, I showed you how to complete the W-8BEN form if you are submitting it for the first time. In this tutorial, I’m essentially submitting an updated W-8BEN form since it is only valid for 3 years.
The W-8BEN form is a United States legal tax form from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) which is also referred to as the “Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding”. If you are an individual, you should complete the W-8BEN form; and if you are a business entity, you should complete the W-8BEN-E form.
Essentially, the W-8BEN form is required to be completed by foreign nationals or non-US residents and submitted to companies or individuals through whom you earn US-based income.
The form has three main parts: (1) IDENTIFICATION OF BENEFICIAL OWNER; (2) CLAIM OF TAX TREATY BENEFITS; (3) CERTIFICATION. The purpose of completing the W-8BEN-E form is so that individuals or companies, in the US, from whom you earn income from, will not withhold tax from you.
This will allow you to avoid double taxation, if your country has a tax treaty with the US. You don’t need to send this to the IRS you only need to provide it to the individual or company (in the US) from whom you are receiving income. Since we are completing this W-8BEN form by logging into our Amazon affiliate account, it’s a little bit different than completing the form manually.
