  • HI there,
That did not go well at all! I made this video to show the hard time I had in hopes of saving your dolls!
Sorry if it was painful to watch. My crafting is not always a success, and so much get edited out of my videos- it was time to show that it's not all rainbows and unicorns!
    Thanks for watching..
    Tanja

😂😂 Oh my gosh, you had me cracking up! I went through a VERY similar process trying to paint a doll for the first time recently so I feel your pain! 😂 Needless to say, I was unsuccessful. They really do make it look so easy on the videos. I found it incredibly difficult. Thanks for sharing. This was such a fun video to watch! 😂😉

Wash the doll before applying anything to her, spray with MISTER SUPER CLEAR, then if you mess up water will do the trick. Water down the paint and do layers instead of all at once. Try, try, try again 10:34

That’s why I don’t paint my dolls. I love them just the way they are. If I repaint them and ruin them, I would be losing the dolls and money.

Omg! You made me laugh so much with this video!!!😂. But, no worries I’ll help a little.
You just need white acrylic paint for the white of the eyes, because with pencils it’ll take long to get a nice shade!
Water the acrylic paint down first, then, apply about 3 times till you get the white shade you like. For the rest of the face you’ll use color pencils. Buy good quality ones they are smoother, there are good ones and not so expensive. Prismacolor are good.
You can erase any error you make with the pencils, so good!
Buy a “gloss varnish” or sealer and a small can of “matte sealer” .
It’ll be like a primer (don’t forget to protect the hair with a plastic bag).
Spray the face once, not so close to the face , let it dry and spray again. Let it dry between sprays!
The face is ready for painting it’ll be a smooth!
When you feel happy with the new face and the finish product…spray it again for a soft cover and protection.
Use the gloss sealer for the lips and the eyes, if you want cool bright eyes!
Paint them using a thin paint brush.
A tip for the “blush” on the cheeks: paint them softly and use your finger to blend and make them look natural.
I painted my daughter’s American girl doll which is really old, I gave it to her when she was 7 and my daughter is 33 now! She saw it and she thought I have bought a new doll and I told her: “Oh no, this is your doll!”
I just gave her pink cheeks and fuller lips, wider eyebrows, soft eyeliner and freckles. She looks different now! Just with the color pencils!😂
Well, have fun practicing, oh, and no acetone please, that will eat the doll’s face use water only!!!😱

I agree with the commentor who said to spray with Mr. Super Clear first. The reason the pencils didn't work is you need to spray it first to create a surface that will accept the paint. You should then have a lot more control using a very sharp watercolor pencil. If you really want to use paint, try using detail nail art brushes and less paint on the brush. Also thin the paint using a high flow medium. Also try holding the head very firmly to keep it steady. Otherwise you are holding the head with one unsteady hand and painting with the other unsteady hand and it will be difficult to achieve the look you are going for. Hope you keep trying!
