I used to watch this every Saturday. These 2 teams were rivals. My favorite skaters were dynamite Mike gammon and big bad Charlie O.. the fights they used to get into were incredible

I loved Mike Gammon. He and Nick Scopas and Tony Roman and Bill Hill were my favorite male skaters!😊

Thanks for sharing this great game, Tom! It cool to see some of the greatest skaters of all time. Look at the smooth strides of Ruberta Mitchell and Jeanie Porter! Two of the best in the history of the game.

All these games have been available for sale online for 25 years and held by skaters and friends 35 years before that.

I received my copies back in around the mid eighties right after my generous friend received them from Jerry Seltzer. I was fortunate that I didn't have to pay for them.@@RepriseFan

@@TomChasuk And I'm sure that originally came from Jack Wilson who gave them to fellow skaters. Contrary to common beliefs Seltzer didn't have any rare video. I do have rare 59 TV games that were saved by Jerry Cattell but I don't plan to post because of the cost to convert them.

Jerry Seltzer had the actual film kinescopes. He gave them to my friend who transfered them to videotape. As a matter of fact, I was with my friend when he was processing some of these. When he finished he gave me videotape copies which I have since transferred to digital. @@RepriseFan

As was reference many times, Gerry Murray and Gene Gammon had been traded to the Bombers for Jean Porter and Julian Silva. As you could imagine the uproar when Gerry and Gene were gone. I don't think it lasted that long before they were swapped back again. I am very surprised that this was a Saturday night game shown live. When I was growing up the games were on Sunday afternoon on ABC channel 7 in NY @ about 2:30pm. We got to see the entire game except for the first half of the women's 1st period. I think the staring time was 2:15 for the game. I also noticed that Elmer said they only skated Fri- Sun. Again, I remember Thurs- Sun @ the 9th Regiment Armory. Maybe they were out of town on Thurs. Elmer was also a surprise since Ken Nydell was normally the announcer. Looks like the banks were steeper and Elmer made reference to the green paint no longer being on the track. That "dust" went everywhere...LOL. A couple of other mentions, Jan Vallow coming off her Rookie of the Year (1959); Darlene Anderson was at one time on the Chiefs; look closely when Knerr gets injured you will see Nick Scopas in street clothes on the infield. Great memories, keep them coming.

Really loving these games. Maybe someone will know where "Red" Jensen went? No mention of her. Seems like the Bombers' women's team was captainless. First fight and first mention of the Westerners, although I could swear they played in '59 as well. The fluidity of the teams and their rosters always fascinated me. Still does, I guess.

Annis Jensen rarely if at all traveled outside of the Bay area with the team. I believe at the time she had 3 daughters, one of them Barbara Baker.
